PERSONS WHO WISH TO SPEAK DURING AUDIENCE FOR GAS MUST HAVE COMPLETED THE FORM FROM THIS PURPOSE AND PLACE IT IN A DESIGNATED LOCATION PRIOR TO THE OPENING OF THE MEETING, UM AND WE DO HAVE, UM I HAVE ONE SPEAKER HERE. HAVE WE HAD ANY ADDITIONAL SPEAKERS? OKAY SO BEFORE WE BEGIN, I'LL REMIND OUR AUDIENCE MEMBERS OF THE BOARDS PROCEDURES FOR HANDLING AUDIENCE FOR GUESTS. I WANT TO SAY FIRST AND FOREMOST, MY NAME IS RICHARD FLEMING, AS MOST OF YOU KNOW, FORMER SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE FOR CARROLLTON FARMERS FRANCHISE STATE FROM 2009 AND 2018. AH GLADLY, VERY PROUD TO SERVE MY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND AS WELL, UM, I GREW UP IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. I GRADUATED FROM THE FBI STATE 1986 GRADUATES, SO I A LET ME SAY GREETINGS TO MR
[00:30:06]
MERSCH AGREED THAT THE DOCTOR LESS BLACK AND THE REST OF THE SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEES. I KNOW THAT THIS IS AH, APPRECIATION MONTH FOR SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS AND LET ME JUST SAY THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, BECAUSE I KNOW ALL THE HARD WORK THAT GOES INTO DOING WHAT YOU GUYS DO. UM I WANT TO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT KIND OF WHY I'M HERE TODAY. UM YOU KNOW, I'M HERE TO TALK ABOUT THE AGENDA ITEM FOR A DISTRICT'S ANNUAL REPORT. I HAD A CHANCE TO REVIEW THAT TEXAS ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE REPORT COMMONLY CALLED THE TAPER. IF YOU LOOK AT THE 2021 22 TAPER AH, THE TEXAS ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE REPORTS, WHICH BY THE WAY FOR THOSE THAT DO NOT KNOW, UH, THAT PULLS TOGETHER WIDE RANGE OF INFORMATION ON PERFORMANCE OF STUDENTS, UH AND EACH SCHOOL DISTRICT AND IN TEXAS PERFORMANCES SHOWN DISAGGREGATED BY GROUPS, INCLUDING ETHNICITY, SOCIAL ECONOMIC STATUS, AND THE REPORT ALSO HAS EXTENSIVE INFORMATION ON SCHOOL. DISTRICT STAFF, AND SO I'M AWARE THAT WE, UH, WE GOT THE RESULTS OF THAT AND I HAD THE CHANCE EARLIER THIS WEEK TO TAKE A LOOK AT OUR THIRD GRADE READING. UM THIRD GRADE READING WHEN I WHEN I WHEN I TOOK A LOOK AT IT. AND IF YOU LOOK AT AT MEETS GRADE LEVEL OR ABOVE UM, I SEE THAT OUR AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENTS THIRD GRADE WAS THAT 39. SO 39% IS AT ME GRADE LEVEL OR ABOVE. DOWN FROM 11% OVER THE PREVIOUS YEAR. THE HISPANIC IS THAT 41% THAT MAKES GREAT LEVEL. WHICH IS DOWN BY 9% OF 2021. BUT THEN THE WHITE STUDENTS, ALRIGHT 69% AT MIXED GRADE LEVEL AND THEY'RE UP PLUS EIGHT. SO MY QUESTION IS WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH THAT THIRD GRADE READING SCORES. AND OUR AND OUR BLACK AND HISPANIC KIDS. WHY SUCH THE WHY THE VARIANTS? UM, DOING MY TENURE SERVING ON THE SCHOOL BOARD FOR NINE YEARS? UH, IT HAS NEVER BEEN THAT LOW. AND SO AS A PROFESSIONAL AS A TAXPAYER. I'D JUST LIKE TO KNOW, YOU KNOW. WHY IS THAT? AND WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO TO RECTIFY THAT? UM YOU KNOW, WHY DO WE HAVE 11% DECLINE IN HISPANICS? I'M ON THIRD GRADE READERS. WHY DO WE HAVE A 9% DECLINE IN AFRICAN AMERICAN READERS? I MEAN, THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WE ALL SHOULD BE SCRATCHING OUR HEADS, TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S GOING ON IN OUR DISTRICT. WHAT'S GOING ON WITH OUR CURRICULUM. YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE CLASSROOM REGARDING OUR STUDENTS. THANK YOU, MR FLEMING. YOUR TIME IS EXPIRED. THANK YOU. I'M SORRY. WE WILL NOW MOVE TO AGENDA ITEM NUMBER FOUR FOR A IS NON ACTION[4. NON-ACTION ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION]
ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION, AND WE'LL GET THIS ANNUAL REPORT AND HOUSE BILL THREE GOALS REPORT FROM DR PARKER. THANK YOU.OKAY. GOOD EVENING. UM THANK YOU FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE INFORMATION ON STUDENT PERFORMANCE HERE AND C F B I S D. PLEASE KNOW THAT THE DATA WILL BE REVIEWING TONIGHT WAS RECENTLY RELEASED BY THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY LAST MONTH. ON DECEMBER THE 15TH WHILE THE INFORMATION ON STAR IS FROM THE 2021 22 ACADEMIC SCHOOL YEAR, OUR FINANCIAL RATINGS AND THE COLLEGE CAREER MILITARY READINESS FACTORS ARE FROM THE 2020 21 SCHOOL YEAR IN WHICH THE MAJORITY OF OUR SECONDARY STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN REMOTE INSTRUCTIONAL OPPORTUNITIES.
TEXAS EDUCATION CODE REQUIRES THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO PUBLISH AN ANNUAL DISTRICT PERFORMANCE REPORT AND HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING ON INFORMATION PROVIDED WITHIN THE TEXAS ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE REPORT. OTHERWISE KNOWN AS TAPER. THIS YEAR KILLED IN FARMERS BRANCH INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL HOLD THEIR PUBLIC HEARING VIRTUALLY BEGINNING AT FIVE P.M. ON MONDAY , JANUARY 23RD DURING THE REGULARLY SCHEDULED DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT COUNCIL MEETING.
TONIGHT WE SHARE WITH. THE BOARD AND THOSE IN ATTENDANCE INFORMATION RELATED TO THIS ANNUAL REPORT, AS WELL AS AN UPDATE ON CHANGES TO THIS YEAR, STATE TESTING AND STATE ACCOUNTABILITY RATING PROCESS. EACH YEAR. SCHOOL DISTRICTS ARE ASSIGNED TO RATINGS. ONE ON ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE. AND ANOTHER BASED ON PUBLIC SCHOOL FINANCE, KNOWN AS FIRST LAST YEAR. C F B I S D EARNED AN OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITY RATING OF AN 88 A HIGH B WITH SEVEN CAMPUSES, EARNING AN A RATING AND 25 CAMPUSES, EARNING A B THE DISTRICT'S FINANCIAL RATING WAS
[00:35:04]
AN A THE HIGHEST SCORE BASED ON THE 2020 21 FINANCIAL STANDARDS. REPORT. 2022 SPECIAL EDUCATION, DETERMINATION, STATUS OF NEEDS. ASSISTANCE IS CONTINUING TO BE ADDRESSED THROUGH OUR RESTORATIVE PRACTICES WORK IN ORDER TO REDUCE DISCIPLINING REMOVAL RATES FROM OUR CLASSROOMS. BEFORE WE BEGIN LOOKING INTO ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE. LET'S FIRST TAKE A LOOK AT THE PROFILE OF OUR STUDENTS AND OUR DISTRICT STAFF AND CFB FROM LAST YEAR. OUR DISTRICT SERVES STUDENTS FROM AGES. 3 TO 21 ACROSS 35 CAMPUSES AND THREE EDUCATIONAL CENTERS.LAST YEAR, WE ENROLLED NEARLY 25,000 STUDENTS AND EMPLOYED OVER 3500 PERSONNEL OF WHICH 68% WERE PROFESSIONAL STAFF. AVERAGE TEACHER SALARY IN CFB IS A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN $3500 ABOVE THE STATE'S AVERAGE. FULL TIME TEACHERS COMPRISED 52% OF OUR FULL TIME STAFF LAST YEAR. AND AS THIS BAR GRAPH SHOWS A MAJORITY OF OUR TEACHERS, 56% HAD OVER FIVE YEARS OF CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE. THE DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE OF OUR STUDENT POPULATION SHOWN HERE HAS REMAINED RELATIVELY UNCHANGED FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS AND ARE HISPANIC POPULATION RATE IS VERY, VERY SIMILAR TO THE STATE. REGARDING STUDENT ENROLLMENT BY PROGRAM TYPE. WE SAW A SLIGHT DECREASE IN ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS FROM 67.6% IN 2021 TO 63.6% IN 2022.
SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM ROSE FROM 13.6% TO 13.9% AND EMERGENT BILINGUAL FORMERLY KNOWN AS ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS INCREASED FROM 33.4% TO 35.1. ONE THING TO NOTE ABOUT THE PERCENT OF ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS SHOWN HERE IS THAT LAST YEAR WE WERE STILL UNDER THE FEDERAL COVID GUIDELINES THAT ALLOWED ANY STUDENT TO RECEIVE A FREE LUNCH IF NEEDED. LOOKING AT OUR CURRENT PROJECTIONS FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR, WE'RE ON TRACK TO HAVE AN ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED SCHOOL ENROLLMENT OF ABOUT 66.4. TURNING OUR ATTENTION TO STATE TESTING RESULTS. THE PRELIMINARY SCORES FROM 2022 WERE INITIALLY SHARED DURING OUR SEPTEMBER 1ST SCHOOL BOARD MEETING. THOSE RESULTS INCLUDED ALL STUDENTS WHO TESTED DURING THE SPRING SEMESTER AND THE SPRING ADMINISTRATION OF STAR THREE THROUGH EIGHT AND THEN, OF COURSE EXAMS. THE SCORE SHOWN HERE WERE RECENTLY RELEASED BY TAPER AND THEY INCLUDE ALL VERSIONS OF THE STAR TEST FROM THREE THROUGH EIGHT END OF COURSE TESTS AS WELL AS THE INTERCOURSE TESTS THAT WERE TAKEN BY STUDENTS DURING THE DECEMBER REALLY ADMINISTRATION AS WELL AS THE SUMMER ADMINISTRATION. ALSO INCLUDED ARE STAR ALTERNATE TO TEST SCORES. ADDITIONALLY THESE SCORES ONLY INCLUDE STUDENTS WHO ARE ENROLLED IN CFB ON THE SNAPSHOT DATE, WHICH IS THE LAST DATE AND LAST FRIDAY OF OCTOBER. NOW OUR TAPER REPORT THAT WAS RELEASED BY THE STATE OF TEXAS INCLUDES TWO CONSECUTIVE YEARS OF STAR DATA, HOWEVER, TONIGHT FOR COMPARATIVE PURPOSES WE'RE REPORTING THE PREVIOUS LAST YEAR'S DATA THAT WAS REPORTED IN THE DISTRICT ANNUAL REPORT AS WELL. THE TABLE ON THE LEFT SHOWS THREE YEAR COMPARISON OF STUDENT PERFORMANCE AT THE APPROACHES GRADE LEVEL OR ABOVE PASSING STANDARD. THE TABLE ON THE RIGHT SHOWS STUDENT PERFORMANCE AT THE HIGHER MEETS GRADE LEVEL OR ABOVE STANDARD.
LOOKING AT ALL SUBJECTS COMBINED FOR APPROACHES GRADE LEVEL 71% OF STUDENTS WERE AT OR ABOVE THE PASSING STANDARD. SUBSTANTIAL GAINS HAVE BEEN MADE IN COMPARISON TO 2021. WE'RE ONLY 5% POINTS AWAY FROM THE 2019 SCORES. MOST NOTABLY, WE CAN SEE HERE THAT ARE READING SCORES MATCHED PRE COVID RATE OF 71% OF THE APPROACHES GRADE LEVEL OR ABOVE AND IT ACTUALLY ROSE ABOVE THE PRE COVID SCORES IN THE MEATS GRADE LEVEL OR ABOVE. ANOTHER REQUIREMENT OF THE DISTRICT'S ANNUAL REPORT IS PROGRESS TOWARDS OUR HOUSE BILL, THREE BOARD GOALS. THIS INFORMATION ON GRADE THREE READING WAS PREVIOUSLY SHARED DURING OUR JUNE 2ND SCHOOL BOARD MEETING. IT SHOWS A YEAR OVER YEAR COMPARISONS OF THE PROJECTED PROFICIENCY AT THE MEATS GRADE LEVEL SCORE ON GRADE THREE READING STAR TEST. IN GRADE THREE. READING OUR SCORES INCREASED 12% POINTS FROM 36. IN 2021 TO 48% IN 2022, SURPASSING THE HOUSE BILL. THREE BOARD GOALS SET AT 39. SIMILARLY IN GRADE THREE MATHEMATICS SCORES INCREASED 20% POINTS FROM 25% TO
[00:40:09]
45% AT MEETS GRADE LEVEL, SURPASSING THE BOARD GOALS SET AT 33. NOW THESE PAST TWO SLIDES HAVE SHOWN OUR QUARTERLY PROGRESS THAT'S BASED ON OUR THE MAP TESTING WE DO THREE TIMES A YEAR. LAST MONTH, THE BOARD RECEIVED THEIR FIRST QUARTERLY REPORT FOR THE CURRENT 2022 23 SCHOOL YEAR, BASED ON THE FALL MAP TESTING THAT OCCURRED BACK IN SEPTEMBER OCTOBER. WE HAVE JUST WRAPPED UP OUR WINTER MAP TESTING FOR ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADE LEVELS. SO MORE INFORMATION REGARDING THE QUARTER TO PROGRESS WILL BE SHARED IN AN UPCOMING BOARD MEMO. WITH REGARD TO SEE CMR. BOARD GOALS. THE TARGET FOR THE CLASS OF 2021 WAS RESET DUE TO COVID AT 68. WAS. EXCUSE ME. THE TARGET OF THE CLASS OF 2021 WAS RESET DUE TO COVID. IT'S THE TARGET WAS 69. AND AT 68% OF GRADUATES IN 2021 MEETING IN COLLEGE CAREER MILITARY READINESS WE CAME WITHIN 1% POINT OF MEETING THAT GOAL. OUR CURRENT PROJECTIONS FOR THE CLASS OF 2022 IS SITTING AT 60. AND WE'RE CONTINUING TO FIND WAYS TO REBOUND FROM THE IMPACT COVID HAD ON OUR CCM OUR INITIATIVES. WITHIN THIS YEAR'S DISTRICT AND CAMPUS IMPROVEMENT PLANS. WE'VE INCLUDED STRATEGIES THAT TARGET INCREASING PARTICIPATION AND PERFORMANCE ON OUR COLLEGE READINESS EXAMS. FOR A CURRENT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AS WELL AS IMPROVING THE ALIGNMENT AND THE PARTICIPATION IN CAREER READINESS PROGRAMS. NOW FOR MORE EXPANDED LOOK AT COLLEGE CAREER MILITARY READINESS. CCM ARE INCLUDES MORE THAN JUST COLLEGE READINESS FACTORS SUCH AS A TEST SCORE ON A KEY PLACE HER THAT S A T OR A C T. IT ALSO INCLUDES COURSEWORK TAKEN BY GRADUATING SENIORS WHILE THEY'RE ENROLLED IN HIGH SCHOOL, SUCH AS DUAL CREDIT, ADVANCED PLACEMENT ON RAMPS. AND COLLEGE PREP. AS WELL AS INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATIONS EARNED THROUGH CTE CLASSES. ADDITIONALLY IT INCLUDES OUR STUDENTS WHO ARE SERVED BY SPECIAL EDUCATION THAT GRADUATE WITH AN ADVANCED DIPLOMA OR COMPLETE I E P AND WORKFORCE READINESS REQUIREMENTS. OUR GRADUATES FROM THE CLASS OF 2021 OUTPERFORMED BOTH THE STATE AND THE REGION IN TERMS OF THEIR OVERALL CCM ARE AND THE PERCENT OF STUDENTS THAT WERE GRADUATING. COLLEGE READY. TURNING OUR ATTENTION NOW TO GRADUATION RATES. AS SHOWN ON THE 10 YEAR. TREND LINE. CFB CONTINUES TO HAVE A FOUR YEAR GRADUATION RIGHT ABOVE 90. THE GRADUATION RATE FOR THE CLASS OF 2021 CFB WAS 93.7. WHICH IS ABOVE THE STATE'S AVERAGE OF 90% AND THE REGION AT 87.5. AND CFB SAFETY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY. LAST YEAR, THERE WERE 58 MANDATORY EXPULSIONS IN OUR DISTRICT, WHICH ACCOUNTS FOR OVERALL INCIDENT RATE OF LESS THAN A QUARTER OF 1. THROUGH OUR DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY AND SECURITY. ALL CAMPUSES NOW HAVE A SECURED SAFE ENTRANCE THAT INCLUDES A VIDEO BELL INTERCOM SYSTEM. INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR CAMERAS ARE CONTINUING TO BE IMPROVED. ACROSS THE DISTRICT, AND, ADDITIONALLY, SECURITY AND SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS ARE PRESENT AT ALL OF OUR CAMPUSES. THIS SPRING. WELL ALL OF OUR STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO TEST IN ALMOST ALL OF THE SUBJECTS ONLINE. THIS TEST WILL INCLUDE NEW QUESTION TYPES. THAT ARE MORE REFLECTIVE OF THE CLASSROOM EXPERIENCES AND THE FEATURES AVAILABLE ON ONLINE TESTING, SUCH AS CREATING A NUMBER LINE OR USING A DRAGON DROP METHOD TO LABEL A MAP OR TO PUT THINGS INTO SEQUENTIAL ORDER. WITHIN THE READING TEST, STUDENTS WILL BE READING CROSS CURRICULAR PASSAGES ALIGNED TO THE GRADE LEVEL, AND THE STAR READING TEST WILL ALSO INCLUDE SHORT. EXPANDED UH SHORT OR EXTENDED WRITTEN RESPONSES, SUCH AS AN ESSAY FOR ALL OF THE TESTED GRADE LEVELS. NOW ALONG WITH THESE UPCOMING CHANGES TO STAR AND ITS FORMAT. OUR STUDENTS THE ACTUAL TESTING WINDOW FOR OUR STUDENTS FOR STAR THREE THROUGH EIGHT AND E. O. C WILL REMAIN THE SAME AS LAST YEAR. OUR STUDENTS WILL TAKE THE START TEST AT THE END OF APRIL THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF MAY. HOWEVER THE RELEASE OF THESE SCORES ARE GOING TO BE DELAYED. HERE WE CAN SEE TH CURRENT TIMELINE FOR WIND SCORES ON THE THREE THROUGH EIGHT ASSESSMENT WILL BE RELEASED. DURING THE STANDARD SETTING TIMEFRAME. TA[00:45:06]
WILL PROVIDE DISTRICTS WITH THE DATA FILE OF STUDENT PERFORMANCE WITH DESCRIPTORS OF LIKELY PASSED. LIKELY DID NOT PASSED. OR THE LABEL OF ZONE OF UNCERTAINTY. TAKE UNTIL ANALYSIS AND REPORTING IS COMPLETE THE SCALE SCORES AND THE FINAL PERFORMANCE LEVELS WILL NOT BE COMPLETED. SCORES WERE SO USED TO HAVING OUR SCORES RELEASED BY THE END OF JUNE, SHOWN ON THE TEXAS SCHOOL .ORG PORTAL FOR FAMILIES TO SEE HOWEVER, THIS YEAR OUR STAR THREE THROUGH EIGHT SCORES WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE TO THE DISTRICT. OR TO THE PARENTS. AND TELL AUGUST.AND THE END, OF COURSE, EXAMS WILL BE FINALIZED AROUND THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE. AND COINCIDING WITH THE STAR REDESIGN. IS AN 80 THROUGH F RATING SYSTEM REFRESH. FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS, WE'VE BEEN FOLLOWING A RELATIVELY SIMILAR ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM WITH THE SAME PERFORMANCE MEASURES. AND WHILE THIS INCLUDED THAT WHILE THIS, YOU KNOW INCLUDED AND ALLOWED FOR A BETTER YEAR OVER YEAR COMPARISON. SOME OF THE ACCOUNTABILITY MEASURES WERE HALTED. SUCH AS NOT ASSIGNING LETTER GRADES FOR 2020 AND 2021 DUE TO THE INTERRUPTED INSTRUCTION CAUSED BY THE COVID PANDEMIC. WE CAN SEE HER LOOKING AT TODAY'S PROPOSED TIMELINE FOR THE ACCOUNTABILITY REFRESH. WE'RE CURRENTLY AT THE HALFWAY POINT OF THE TRANSITION PROCESS.
THROUGH MARCH. ADDITIONAL FEEDBACK FROM STAKEHOLDERS WILL BE GATHERED. AND A FINAL DRAFT OF THE ACCOUNTABILITY MANUAL WILL BE PUBLISHED DURING THE SUMMER. FOLLOWED BY THE RELEASE OF DISTRICT AND CAMPUS RATINGS. IN MID SOME IN MID SEPTEMBER. KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THESE CHANGES ARE FIRST THIS YEAR'S RATING WILL BE BASED ON THE NEW STAR TEST. THE SPRING. STAR THREE THROUGH EIGHT TEST SCORES WILL BE DELAYED UNTIL AUGUST. THE FINAL UPDATES FOR OUR ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM IS GOING TO OCCUR OVER THE SUMMER. AND OR A THROUGH F RATINGS WILL ALSO BE DELIGHTED THIS YEAR. THIS CONCLUDES OUR PRESENTATION ON STUDENT PERFORMANCE FROM THE TAPER REPORT RELEASED BY TA IN DECEMBER, AND I'M ALSO GOING TO SHARE A QUICK REMINDER. THAT CFB WILL BE HOLDING A PUBLIC HEARING VIRTUALLY BEGINNING AT FIVE P.M. ON MONDAY, JANUARY 23RD DURING THE REGULARLY SCHEDULED DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT COUNCIL MEETING. THANK YOU. POOR MEMBERS. DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR DR PARKER? MR ERIC, I DON'T REALLY HAVE A QUESTION. I JUST HAVE A FEW COMMENTS. THANK YOU, DR PARKER FOR YOUR PRESENTATION JUST FOR THE COMMUNITY FOR A LITTLE BACKGROUND FOR EVERYONE TO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU'RE PRESENTING TONIGHT THE TAPER, WHICH IS AN ANNUAL REPORT. THE BOARD WAS PROVIDED INFORMATION EARLIER IN THE FALL AND INDIVIDUALLY BY YOUR TEAM TO HELP US KIND OF BREAK DOWN THE DATA FROM THE START TESTING EVEN MORE. THEN WHAT WE'RE SEEING RIGHT NOW IN YOUR PRESENTATION, AND I WANT TO APPLAUD THE TEAM THAT ALLOWED THE HEAD TRANSPARENCY IN THAT PROCESS BECAUSE IT GAVE THE BOARD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ASK QUESTIONS AND REALLY DIG INTO SOME OF THE DATA AND WHERE WE WERE SEEING GAPS.
UM, AND READING SCORES, MATH SCORES, THINGS LIKE THAT. AND SO I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT THE WORK BEGAN LONG AGO ON ADDRESSING SOME OF THOSE GAPS. AND I ALSO THINK THAT THAT JUST ALSO SPEAKS TO THE IMPORTANCE OF THE MAP TESTING THAT THE BOARD APPROVES EVERY YEAR BECAUSE THE MAP TESTING GIVES US MUCH MORE FREQUENT SNAPSHOTS IN TIME OF WHAT WE'RE SEEING SO THAT WE'RE NOT JUST WAITING UNTIL A STAR TEST ONCE A YEAR TO FIND OUT WHERE WE'RE AT. WE'RE ACTUALLY TRACKING IT. LIKE YOU SAID. YOU CAN PROJECT AND SEE WHERE WE'RE GOING AND WHAT WE THINK IS GOING TO HAPPEN. WE HAVE A PRETTY GOOD IDEA ALREADY BECAUSE WE HAVE MAPPED DATA. TO SHOW US WHAT WHAT WE'RE SEEING IN OUR SCHOOLS, SO JUST A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND FOR THE COMMUNITY BECAUSE I KNOW THAT THE PAPER REPORTS JUST A LOT OF NUMBERS ALL AT ONCE. BUT THE BOARD SPRING PROVIDED A LOT OF INFORMATION IN THE BACKGROUND ABOUT YOUR TEAM. UM IN PREPARATION FOR THIS PRESENTATION TONIGHT, SO THANK YOU. MS BENAVIDEZ. THANK YOU, DOCTOR. I WANTED TO FIND OUT OR ASK YOU WHAT IMPACT? UM CHANGES TO THE STAR TEST AND ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM HAVE ON OUR BOARD GOALS. THAT'S AN EXCELLENT QUESTION. ONE OF THINGS IS WITH REGARD TO THE ONLINE TESTING OUR STUDENTS OF TESTING ONLINE. THEY TEST ON THE MATH TEST THEY LARGE MAJORITY OF TESTED ONLINE. WE'VE ALSO BEGAN THAT TRANSITION TO BIG STUDENTS BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE NEW QUESTION TYPES FIRST WITH OUR TEACHING AND LEARNING CONTINENTALLY DIRECTORS AND THE TRAINING THAT THEY RECEIVED LAST YEAR TRAINING THAT WAS PROVIDED TO THEIR TEACHERS THROUGH OPTIMIZING OUTCOMES. AND THEN WE'VE BEEN EMBEDDING SOME OF THOSE NEW QUESTION TYPES WHERE APPROPRIATE DURING THEIR UNITS AND SCOPE AND SEQUENCE SO WITH REGARD TO THE REDESIGN WERE OUR STUDENTS AND OUR STAFF ARE WELL PREPARED. BUT WITH REGARD TO THE
[00:50:04]
SPECIFICS ON HOUSE BILL, THREE BOARD GOALS, I'M GOING TO TURN THAT OVER TO TRACY SMITH, WHO LEADS THE WORK ON GRADE THREE, AND ALSO JOE GUILLEN, WHO LEADS THAT WORK HERE FOR RC CMR. IN REGARD TO THE BOARD GOALS. WE ARE ANTICIPATING MOVING FORWARD, HOWEVER. WITH THE STAR CHANGES.YOU CAN NEVER GUESS EXACTLY HOW THEY'RE GOING TO, UH, REPORT ALL THEIR GOALS. BUT WHAT I WILL TELL YOU IS THAT WITH THE NEW ITEM TYPES, WITH STUDENTS HAVING TO TYPE THEIR ANSWERS AND DO SHORT ANSWER RESPONSES, WHICH IS SOMETHING NEW THEY'VE NEVER HAD TO DO BEFORE GOTTEN TO DO BEFORE . WHATEVER YOU WANT THE VERB TO BE. WE HAVE PURCHASED THINGS LIKE TYPING CLUB TO HELP STUDENTS TO BEGIN TO LEARN HOW TO NAVIGATE A KEYBOARD TO ADEQUATELY BE ABLE TO PUT THEIR THOUGHTS IN PAPER. IN ADDITION, THROUGH OUR UNITS OF STUDY, WE HAVE WRITING UNITS. THAT PARTICULARLY ASK STUDENTS TO RESPOND TO PROMPTS THAT HAVE TO DO WITH PASSAGES THAT THEY HAVE JUST READ. SO IT IS NO LONGER TAKING A WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE FRIEND AND TELL ABOUT THE TIME THAT YOU WERE WITH THEM. INSTEAD THEY HAVE TO TAKE A READING PASSAGE. AND THEN THERE WILL BE A QUESTION ABOUT THAT, WHERE THEY ACTUALLY HAVE TO CITE TEXT EVIDENCE. THAT SUPPORTS WHATEVER THEIR THESIS IS. AND YES, WE USE THE WORD THESIS IN THIRD GRADE, SO WE HAVE BEEN THROUGH UNITS OF STUDY OVER THE YEARS BEING, UM, PREPARING STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO JUSTIFY THEIR ANSWERS. BOTH VERBALLY AND IN WRITTEN FORM. WE HAVE ALSO WERE. WHILE IT DOESN'T SOUND GREAT WITH THESE NEW ATOM TYPES SOMETIMES WITH SOME OF THE TYPES WERE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT IT, BECAUSE IT'S MORE IN LINE WITH WHAT STUDENTS CAN DO. IT'S NOT JUST ONE ANSWER ALL THE TIME . YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO MANIPULATE SOMETHING AND PUT IT IN ORDER FOR THE FOR THE WHETHER CYCLE FOR EXAMPLE, SO IT GIVES US THE STUDENTS REALLY SOME CHANCES IN DIFFERENT WAYS TO BE ABLE TO SHOW THEIR LEARNING. SO WE'RE WORKING ON THAT NOT ONLY IN A TEST FORMAT, BUT ALSO IN REAL LIFE THINGS THAT THEY CAN DO EVERYDAY IN THE CLASSROOM WITHOUT HAVING TO DO TEST PREP, SO WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THAT. UM AND THEN FINALLY, I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT JUST A CHANGE THAT WE'RE A LITTLE BIT CONCERNED ABOUT IN THAT OUR SPECIALISTS, STUDENTS SOMETIMES TAKE A AND INSTEAD OF AN ONLINE TEST, THEY'VE BEEN TAKING A PAPER PENCIL TEST. WELL THEY HAVE JUST RELEASED A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO . WHAT THE PAPER TEST WOULD LOOK LIKE. AND WITH THE NEW ITEM TYPES THEY'RE HORRIBLE. THEY THEY ARE NOT CLEAR. IT IS HARDER TO UNDERSTAND, AND YOU'RE AFRAID THAT OUR STUDENTS WILL HAVE SOME DIFFICULTY IN USING THE PAPER PENCIL TEST, SO WE'RE REALLY LOOKING TO NARROW DOWN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. STUDENTS THAT TAKE THE PAPER PENCIL TEST, LOOKING AT WHAT ACCOMMODATIONS AND MODIFICATIONS WE CAN MAKE TO THAT TESTING TO BE ABLE TO HELP STUDENTS TO BE SUCCESSFUL. THANK YOU. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD WILL START WITH MISS BRADY. UM MR PARKER AND MS SMITH THAT IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS YEAR FOR KIDS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS THAT ARE UNDER AN I E D.
BUT THEY WILL HAVE AN EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF ALLOWABLE ACCOMMODATION. ARE YOU FINDING THAT TO BE TRUE? I HAVE NOT SEEN ALL THE DOCUMENTATION. I CAN'T SPEAK TO THE SPECIFIC NUMBERS.
BUT THERE ARE ACCOMMODATIONS SUCH AS TRACY SMITH JUST SUCH A SPEECH TO TEXT TEXT TO SPEECH THAT THOSE ARE THE COMPONENTS ON THE TEST AS WELL AS, UM, SOME AREAS THAT ALLOW THE STUDENTS TO, UM TAKE A LOOK AND THEY HOVER OVER WORD AND IT SPEAKS TO IT OR PROVIDES A PICTURE REPRESENT REPRESENTATION OF IT OR DEFINITION OVER IT. WHAT ARE THE KEY ONES THAT THEY TYPICALLY DO IS WHEN YOU SEE THE WORD SAND SAND COULD BE SOMETHING YOU FEEL IN A IN A BUCKET THAT BY THE OCEAN, BUT IT COULD ALSO BE SOMETHING THAT YOU DO WHEN YOU ARE WORKING WITH WOOD. SO THOSE TYPES OF THINGS THAT ARE IN PART PART OF IT, BUT WITH REGARD TO WHAT PERCENT OF STUDENTS HOW WE HAVE FOR EACH OF THOSE ACCOMMODATIONS, THOSE ARE ACTUALLY STILL BEING GATHERED.
BECAUSE TO GET THEM INTO THE DATA, THEY'RE STILL BEING GATHERED AND STILL BEING A PART OF IT. I DON'T KNOW THAT THEY HAVE ADDED THAT MANY MORE THIS YEAR.
BUT IN YEARS PAST THEY HAVE AND THEY CONTINUE TO ADD THINGS TO IT THAT ARE VERY BENEFICIAL. THE BEST PART IS THIS THAT WE HAVE SAMPLES THAT WE CAN GO IN AND WE CAN ACTUALLY PLAY WITH IT OURSELVES. THEN THAT WAY WE CAN HELP OUR STUDENTS WHO ALSO NEED THOSE ACCOMMODATIONS TO PLAY WITH IT AS WELL SO THAT IT'S NOT THE FIRST TIME. THAT THEY UTILIZE IT OR SEE IT. THE OTHER THING THAT'S REALLY GREAT IS THE ACCOMMODATIONS. THE STATUS, GIVING. MANY OF THE COMPANIES WHO ARE DOING ONLINE PROGRAMS ARE ADDING THOSE TO WHAT THEY DO ON A DAILY BASIS. SO THAT WAY,
[00:55:06]
IT'S NOT SO SURPRISING TO OUR STUDENTS. YEAH. THIS, HATFIELD. THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATION.I WAS GOING TO GO BACK TO SLIDE FIVE ABOUT THE STAFF PROFILE, AND I WAS WONDERING IF WE COULD GET ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. NOT TODAY, BUT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THE MENTOR PROGRAM. I KNOW WE WERE MAKING SOME CHANGES TO THAT. AND SO WITH 44% OF OUR TEACHERS BEGINNING OR 1 TO 5 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE I WAS WONDERING IF I COULD GET SOME FOLLOW UP INFORMATION ON HOW WE'RE ADJUSTING OUR MENTOR PROGRAM TO SUPPORT NEW TEACHERS. WOULD THAT BE? YES. THAT INFORMATION. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FROM MORE MEMORIES. GARCIA ROJAS, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TONIGHT. I CAN BARELY REACH THIS. WHAT DO YOU WHAT DO WE ATTRIBUTE THE INCREASE IN OVERALL INCIDENTS TO AND WHAT ARE WE DOING TO ADDRESS THEM? SO WITH REGARD TO SPECIFICALLY WITH REGARD TO DISCIPLINE, I MEAN, WE RECOGNIZE THAT YOU KNOW A NUMBER OF THE INCIDENTS HIGH PERCENTAGE OF THEM DEAL WITH SUBSTANCE USE, AND WE'VE ALREADY BEGUN TO ADDRESS THAT RECOGNIZING IT RIGHT OFF THE BAT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, AS AS AS A PART OF LAST YEAR AS WELL. OKAY ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE DO IS WE HAVE, UH, INCREASED OUR DRUG AWARENESS COUNSELORS AND THE WORK THAT THEY'RE DOING THE TWO COUNCILS THAT WE HAVE ON THE CAMPUSES, AND MOST RECENTLY WE'VE HAD TO FAMILY NIGHT PRESENTATIONS TO ADDRESS SOME OF THOSE ISSUES, BUT TO TALK MORE ABOUT THOSE SPECIFIC DETAILS. I'M GOING TO TURN IT OVER TO DR LANCE HAMLIN, THE ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT HERE FOR OUR SUPPORT SERVICES.
OH YEAH, I WON'T SAY THAT WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE NUMBER OF 58 INCIDENTS. WE HAVE 40 TO THEM.
ELECTRONIC CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE. ALSO I THINK IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT IN 2000 PRIOR TO 2018 THC, WHICH IS REALLY 90% OF THE 40 THE NUMBER 42 THAT YOU SEE ON THIS 90% OF THE TEAM.
TESTING PRIOR TO 2018 WAS CONSIDERED A MISDEMEANOR. SO THEY WOULD NOT EVEN BE ON THIS.
TO REPORT ON YOUTUBE. NOW THAT IT'S CONSIDERED A FELONY. HIT THE ARK SHARING. ONE SO WHAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT ABOUT THC? IT DOESN'T MATTER THE AMOUNT IT COULD BE 16 OUNCES BUT COULD BE A TRACE AMOUNT. IT'S CONSIDERED A FELONY. SO THAT REALLY ATTRIBUTES TO THE LARGE. NUMBER GOING THROUGH WHAT IT WAS PRIOR TO. I THINK THAT YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL. WE HAD ACTUALLY 18.
WE HAD 30 INCIDENT. ACROSS THE DISTRICT. WE HAD 31 18 1930 1920. AND NOW HERE WE ARE. 22 WE SAW THAT BIG SO IT REALLY WAS ABOUT. NOW I WILL SAY THAT THE THINGS THAT WE HAVE DONE SO FAR THIS YEAR. TO MAKE SURE THAT WE CAN WE HELP OUR STUDENTS. GOING TO TRUST OUR DISTRICT. OF COURSE, OUR REGIONS ACROSS THE STATE AND ACROSS THE. YOU HAVE HELD THOSE TWO PARENTS EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS THAT WE'VE HAD THAT CREEPY HIGH SCHOOL WAS DURING THE WEEK. WE HAD ONE ON A WEEKEND AT OUR ALTERNATE. WE HAVE ALSO WORKED WITH OUR DRUG COUNSELOR. POLICE DEPARTMENT. WE HAVE CREATED. TRAININGS AND PRESENTATIONS FOR OUR STUDENT. WE'RE GONNA BE WORKING WITH MR SULLIVAN, CHIEF OF STORE LEADERSHIP FOR SECONDARY TO WORK WITH OUR PRINCIPLES TO SCHEDULE THOSE TRAININGS FOR OUR KIDS. WE WANT TO MAKE SURE WE START WITH ALL OF OUR SIXTH GRADES, ALWAYS IN 12 TO GET THOSE PRESENTATIONS DONE. SO WE'VE ALSO IN WORKING WITH MR MARSHALL. WE FELT THAT WE HAD AN ISSUE THAT WE'RE REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT. YOU HAVE NARCAN DID EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR SHOW. AND WE ASK FOR THAT SUPPORT, AND IT WAS IMMEDIATELY . WE WERE ONE OF 10 DISTRICTS IN THE STATE OF TEXAS THAT HAD IT FOR EVERY SINGLE BUILDING. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE NUMBER IS TODAY, BUT I KNOW AT THE TIME WE WERE ONE OF STUDY ALSO HAVE WORKED WITH OUR SECURITY DEPARTMENT, MR FREEMAN, SHE WORKED WITH THE LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY. AND WE HAVE STARTED. PAIN IN BUSINESS THERE. SEARCH AND THEN WE'RE GOING THROUGH OUR BUILDING. IT'S WE WANT TO MAKE. OUR STUDENTS ARE AWARE THIS IS SERIOUS. WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THEY'RE OKAY. UM, THEY SAY THAT THIS IS A AFTER PRESSING. ALSO WE HAVE JUST STARTED FINALIZING SOME MUNICH ATIONS FROM POSTERS FOR ALL OF OUR BUILDING. ALWAYS AND RESTAURANT. THAT REGARDING THE IT'S NEGATIVE IMPACT FITTING, ALL USED AND TEACH. WE HAVE HAD A VERY AGGRESSIVE APPROACH. GET
[01:00:01]
RID OF THE PROBLEM. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I APPRECIATE EVERYTHING YOU DO. ANY ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS, MR ERIC. I WANT TO JUST MAKE A COMMENT REAL QUICK. MR HAMLIN, DOCTOR HAMLET ABOUT WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT NARCAN . UM AND THAT'S SOMETHING I RECENTLY LEARNED THAT OUR SCHOOLS ALL HAVE NARCAN ON CAMPUS AND JUST TO INFORM THE COMMUNITY ABOUT HOW IMPORTANT THAT IS. THAT'S THE EQUIVALENT OF HAVING AN A E. D ON EVERY CAMPUS FOR A DRUG OVERDOSE, AND SO WE ARE ABLE TO RESPOND. QUICKLY TO OVERDOSES AND SAVE LIVES BY HAVING NARCAN ON EVERY CAMPUS IN OUR DISTRICT, AND I APPLAUD THE EFFORTS THAT WE TOOK TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN. THAT'S HUGE , AND LIKE YOU SAID ONE OF 10 DISTRICTS IN THE STATE THAT WAS DOING IT AT THE TIME, MINUTES, SECONDS MATTER WHEN THOSE THINGS HAPPEN. WE HAVE TO TALK TO OUR KIDS ABOUT THESE THINGS. THEY ARE REAL, AND THEY ARE KILLING KIDS EVERY DAY. BUT IN OUR DISTRICT, WE ARE TAKING STEPS TO TRY TO SAVE LIVES WITH AN A E D AS WELL AS WITH NARCAN, AND SO THAT IS THE NURSE ON THE BOARDS COMING OUT. I'M SO PROUD OF THE WORK WE'RE DOING ON THAT. THAT'S THAT'S HUGE, SO THANK YOU AND TO MISLEAD AND HER TEAM FOR THAT WE ARE LOOKING TO SCHEDULE MORE APPARENT.THANK YOU ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS? WHO DIES? OKAY UH, DR PARKER. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE REPORT. UM MISS SMITH. DR HAMLIN, THANK YOU FOR ADDING IN YOUR EXPERTISE, AND WE WILL MOVE
[5. CONSENT AGENDA]
TO OUR NEXT AGENDA. ITEM NUMBER FIVE THE CONSENT AGENDA. THE CONSENT AGENDA IS A MECHANISM THAT THE BOARD USES TO APPROVE A NUMBER OF ROUTINE ITEMS TOGETHER WITH A SINGLE VOTE AND COMPLIANCE WITH THE TEXAS UP IN MEETINGS ACT. THE PUBLIC NOTICE FOR THIS MEETING INCLUDES THE LIST OF ALL CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS , AND THE BOARD HAS BEEN PROVIDED AMPLE INFORMATION ABOUT THESE ITEMS IN ADVANCE PRIOR TO ANY ACTION TAKEN ON THE CONSENT AGENDA. ISLAND BOARD MEMBERS MAY REQUEST WITHDRAWAL OF INDIVIDUAL ITEMS FOR CLARIFICATION. OR DISCUSSION, SO I'LL ASK BOARD MEMBERS AT THIS TIME. ARE THERE ANY ITEMS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE CONSENT AGENDA? OKAY HEARING NONE AND SING KNOWN BOARD MEMBERS. DO I HAVE A MOTION REGARDING THE CONSENT AGENDA? MISS HATFIELD. I MOVE THAT WE APPROVED THE CONSENT AGENDA AS PRESENTED. OKAY, WE HAVE A MOTION FROM MISS HATFIELD. DO I HAVE A SECOND? HAVE A SECOND FROM MR ERIC? IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? OKAY. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR, PLEASE SHOW BY RAISING YOUR HAND. LET'S SEE. SIX HANDS RAISED ALL OPPOSED. SO BY A VOTE OF SIX IN FAVOR AND ZERO OPPOSED THE CONSENT AGENDA CARRIES. UM[6. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION AND/OR ACTION]
SO OUR NEXT AGENDA ITEM IS, UM, SIX, UM AND SIX A IS ITEMS REMOVED FROM CONSENT, BUT WE DID NOT HAVE ANY ITEMS REMOVED FROM CONSENT, SO WE'LL GO TO AGENDA. ITEM SIX B, WHICH IS TO CONSIDER APPROVED THE DISTRICT'S ANNUAL COMPREHENSIVE FINANCIAL REPORT. THE A. C F R FOR SHORT FOR THE PERIOD ENDING AUGUST 31ST 2022. SO, MR GARRETT, I'M GOING TO TURN IT OVER TO YOU, SIR. THANK YOU, DOCTOR BLACK. SO AS YOU KNOW, AS A BOARD TONIGHT YOU ARE. YOU ARE APPROVING OUR ANNUAL FINANCIAL COMPREHENSIVE REPORT, WHICH IS BASICALLY OUR YEARLY FINANCIAL AUDIT. SO AS YOU KNOW, OUR FISCAL YEAR ENDED AUGUST 31ST, BUT WITH THE AUDITORS COME IN, THEY COME IN A COUPLE OF TIMES DURING THE YEAR AND THEY COME IN AFTER WE CLOSE. AND THEY START AUDITING ALL OUR BOOKS FROM START TO FINISH AND TAKE SOME REALLY THROUGH THE END OF DECEMBER. SO THE REPORT, AS YOU KNOW, CAME OUT TODAY. AND UM, WE PRINTED IT TO THE AUDIT COMMITTEE WITH, UM MISS DEREK AND MISS. BRADY THERE, SO THEY GOT TO HEAR KIND OF WHAT IT ALL ENTAILS. AND WHAT GOES INTO THE ANNUAL FINANCIAL AUDIT REPORT ALONG WITH MR MURCH WAS IN THERE SO AS YOU KNOW, UM THE REPORT IS VERY COMPREHENSIVE, VERY INTENSE AND WHAT THEY ASKED FOR MOST, AND WHAT THEY REQUEST FROM US IS REALLY ALL YEAR LONG, WHERE THEIR QUESTION DIFFERENT THINGS SO UM IT'S NOT FOR LACK OF LOOKING WHEN THEY GIVE US AN AUDIT REPORT. I THINK THEY GOT TO HEAR THAT IT'S NEAT WHEN YOU GET A CLEAN AUDIT, BUT IT'S HARD TO MAINTAIN AND WE'VE MAINTAINED IT. YOU KNOW, FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW, WILLIAM, WE MAINTAIN IT AGAIN THIS YEAR. AND, UM LIKE I SAID, IT'S NOT FOR LACK OF LOOKING. THEY REALLY THEY REALLY GET INTENSE. THEY REALLY ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS. THEY REQUEST A LOT OF DOCUMENTATION FROM US AND THEY CHECK EVERY EXPENDITURE THAT GOES IN AND OUT. THEY CHECK EVERY FUND. THEY DO REALLY EVERYTHING TOP TO BOTTOM AND CHECK IT OUT. SO UM AGAIN. I'M HAPPY TO REPORT WE DID HAVE A CLEAN AUDIT. AND IT WAS AN UNMODIFIED UNQUALIFIED OPINION, WHICH MEANS EVERYTHING THEY PUT IN THE REPORT. THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO MODIFY ANYTHING. THEY SAID THEY HAD TO MODIFY ANYTHING. ANY NUMBERS ANYTHING ANYWAY. DOCUMENTATION TO MAKE A STATEMENT THEY MADE WAS WITHOUT HAVING TO SWITCH ANYTHING BASED ON THE FINANCIAL, SO IT WAS A CLEAN AUDIT REPORT WITH NO FINDINGS. SO IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, I'LL TAKE IT. FOR[01:05:04]
MEMBERS. WE HAVE QUESTIONS FOR MR GARRETT. MR ERIC. I'LL JUST MAKE A COMMENT AS BEING A MEMBER ON THE AUDIT COMMITTEE WITH MR BRADY. UM SO WE DID CHANGE AUDIT COMMITTEE. UM COMPANIES AND I DON'T KNOW WHEN THAT CHANGE HAPPENED. I CANNOT SPEAK CONFIDENTLY ON THE ANSWER OF THAT, BUT I THINK THAT'S IMPORTANT FOR EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT WE HAD ALWAYS HAD AS FAR AS I AS LONG AS I'VE BEEN ON THE BOARD TO CLEAN AUDIT, BUT WE DID CHANGE COMPANIES TO MAKE SURE THAT LIKE ARE WE ACTUALLY GETTING THE FULL LOOK THROUGH TO MAKE SURE WE ARE DOING WHAT WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING. NEW COMPANY. SAME FINDINGS, AND TODAY WE WERE ABLE TO ASK THE QUESTION. OKAY DOES EVERYONE GET THIS? DOES EVERYONE GET A CLEAN WRITING AND NO FINDINGS? UM YOU KNOW, IS THIS REALLY EVEN NECESSARY AND SHE ASSURED US THAT IT'S VERY HARD LIKE YOU SAID TO GET A CLEAN RATING WITH NO FINDINGS. UM, AND THAT DISTRICTS WOULD DO IT. BUT THERE ARE ALSO LOTS OUT THERE THAT HAVE FINDINGS. SO I APPLAUD THE TEAM FOR ALL THEIR HARD WORK BECAUSE THIS AUDIT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS INTENSE, AND THEY FOUND NOTHING. THANK YOU. YEAH IT IS HARD AND WE DO HAVE A REALLY SOLID TEAM. Y'ALL GOT TO BE MISS ESPINOSA TONIGHT. WHO'S OUR DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND LIKE I SAID, THERE WAS A LOT OF LOT OF REQUESTS FROM HER FROM GISELLE FROM MISS PENALTY OR OTHER DIRECTORS. SO IT'S A LOT THAT GOES INTO IT. AND, UM YOU KNOW, I INVITED ALL THE STAFF TO COME HERE TONIGHT TO HEAR BECAUSE I GET TO SAY, HEY, EVERYTHING WAS GREAT. WE DID GREAT. WE HAVE A GOOD CLEAN AUDIT. SO I GET TO GET THE SMILES FROM YOU GUYS, BUT THEY'RE LIKE, OKAY, WE'RE GOOD. WE'RE JUST WATCH THEM. NOBODY WANTED TO COME. BUT THEY'RE ALL HAPPY. WE GOT TO CLEAN ON IT. SO THAT'S FUN THERE. OTHER COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD. I'LL JUST TAKE AN OPPORTUNITY TO THANK YOU, MR GARY IN YOUR ENTIRE TEAM FOR THE WORK YOU DO AND IT'S HAS MISSED. ERIC JUST MENTIONED IT'S I DON'T THINK IT'S EASY AND NECESSARILY ALL THAT COMMON. UM TO HAVE CLEAN AUDITS. YOU'RE IN. YOU'RE OUT. YOU'RE IN. YOU'RE OUT. AND SO WE APPRECIATE ALL THE WORK THAT YOU'RE DOING, AND I ALSO WANT TO THANK MR ERIC AND MISS BRADY FOR SERVING ON THE COMMITTEE THIS YEAR. IT'S A IT'S A BIT OF EXTRA WORK, AND IT'S SOMEWHAT OVERWHELMING IT TIMES. WITH ALL THE NUMBERS YOU SEE, UM , BUT IT IS. IT'S GOOD NEWS, AND WE'RE EXCITED TO GET THIS REPORT FROM YOU TONIGHT. OKAY DO I HAVE A MOTION REGARDING THIS ITEM? UM MISS BENAVIDEZ. THE NOTION THAT WE OKAY? HAVEN'T EMOTION FROM MS BENAVIDEZ TO ACCEPT THE COMPREHENSIVE FINANCIAL REPORT IS THEIR SECOND A SECOND FROM MISS BRADY. IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? OKAY. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR POLICE SHOW WITH A RAISED HAND. ALL THOSE OPPOSED SO BY A VOTE OF SIX IN FAVOR AND ZERO OPPOSING THE MOTION CARRIES AND THAT TAKES US TO AGENDA ITEM[7. COMMENTS FROM BOARD MEMBERS REGARDING POSTED AGENDA ITEMS]
NUMBER SEVEN, WHICH IS COMMENTS FROM BOARD MEMBERS REGARDING POSTED AGENDA ITEMS. BOARD MEMBERS STANDING OF YOU HAVE ANY COMMENTS? YOU WISH TO MAKE IT THIS TIME RELATED TO THE POST OF AGENDA ITEMS, MISS BENAVIDEZ. I JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE HARD WORK THAT GOES INTO THESE REPORTS ALL YOUR TIME AND EFFORT. IT MEANS THE WORLD TO US, AND IT REALLY MAKES OUR JOB EASIER AND WELCOME BACK AND HAPPY NEW YEAR. COMMENTS FROM ANYONE ELSE. MR. WITH IT BEING SCHOOL BOARD APPRECIATION MONTH. I WANTED TO THANK ALL OF Y'ALL FOR SERVING ALONGSIDE ME.Y'ALL ARE ALL JUST INCREDIBLE AND IT'S A PLEASURE TO SERVE AND I THINK THAT IT'S SO FITTING THAT TASK BEES THEME FOR THIS YEAR'S MOVING FORWARD TOGETHER AND I FEEL LIKE THAT KIND OF ENCOMPASSES WHAT WE'RE DOING LIKE OUR BOARD HAS REALLY UNITED IN THE MISSION AND AT HAND AND WE KNOW WHAT NEEDS TO GET DONE, AND WE ARE EXCITED TO MOVE ON AND WORK ON BUILDING THE BOARD.
