[3. Audience for Guests]
IS OUR AUDIENCE FOR GUESTS. PERSONS WHO WISH TO SPEAK DURING AUDIENCE FOR GUESTS MUST HAVE[00:20:02]
COMPLETED A FORM FOR THIS PURPOSE AND PLACE IT IN DESIGNATED LOCATION PRIOR TO THE OPENING OF THE MEETING. UM MISS CANADA. DO WE HAVE ANY? I'VE GOT A FOLDER. I THINK WITH THREE AND HERE. ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL OH, SEE. I ONLY HAVE. THREE 33. OKAY. ALL RIGHT. SO UM, WE DO HAVE SOME CITIZENS HERE WHO WISH TO SPEAK DURING AUDIENCE FOR GUESTS. SO BEFORE WE BEGIN OUR MIND OUR AUDIENCE MEMBERS OF OUR PROCEDURES FOR HANDLING AUDIENCE FOR GUESTS. UH AS I MENTIONED EARLIER, ANYONE INTERESTED TO SPEAK IN PERSON DURING AUDIENCE FOR GUESTS MUST HAVE COMPLETED A FORUM ENLISTED THE TOPIC THEY WISH TO DISCUSS PRIOR TO THE START OF THE MEETING. EACH SPEAKER WILL BE ALLOWED TO SPEAK ONCE DURING AUDIENCE FOR GUESTS WILL BE ALLOWED A MAXIMUM OF THREE MINUTES TO ADDRESS THE BOARD IS DICTATED BY BOARD POLICY B E. D LOCAL BECAUSE THE BOARD WANTS TO HEAR FROM AS MANY OF YOU AS POSSIBLE, WHILE ALSO KEEPING THE MOVE MEETING RUNNING EFFICIENTLY. GROUPS OF MORE THAN FIVE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO PRESENT ON A PARTICULAR VIEWPOINT. ON TOPIC SHOULD APPOINT ONE PERSON TO SPEAK ON BEHALF OF THE GROUP. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE BOARD CANNOT DELIBERATE. ON ANY SUBJECT THAT IS NOT INCLUDED ON THE AGENDA FOR THIS MEETING.MORE MEMBERS WILL LISTEN TO COMMENTS BUT WILL NOT RESPOND OR ANSWER QUESTIONS. EACH SPEAKER'S PRESENTATION IS LIMITED. LIMITED TO THREE MINUTES AND PLEASE MONITOR THE SCREEN BECAUSE I DON'T REALLY ENJOY CUTTING PEOPLE OFF WHEN THEY TALK PAST THERE. THREE MINUTES. SO UM ALL RIGHT, SO WE'LL HAVE OUR FIRST SPEAKER. UM THIS IS KELLY NORRIS.
GOOD EVENING, EVERYBODY. MY NAME IS KELLY NORRIS. I'M EXTREMELY NERVOUS. SO PLEASE FORGIVE ME.
I'M HERE THIS EVENING TO TALK ABOUT OUR COACH STARKS FROM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. UM THAT'S MY START OFF, SAYING THE WAY THAT OUR TEACHERS ARE TREATED ORIGINALLY DISRESPECT THE CHILDREN NEEDED UNDERSTAND THAT , OF COURSE, THEY CANNOT TREAT THEIR TEACHERS WITH SUCH DISRESPECT. UM. SCHOOL DISTRICT , YOU KNOW, NEEDS TO HELP SUPPORT OUR TEACHERS TEACHERS TO DEAL WITH A LOT OF THINGS THAT BACK IN THE DAY OR OR TEACHERS DID NOT. UM PETERSON HAD TO DEAL WITH DISRESPECTFUL CHILDREN. IN THIS CASE, THE SITUATION THAT HAPPENED UM, ARE DESCENDANTS SAID CHILD TO THE OFFICE FOR ACTING ACTING UP THAT SAID CHILD CAME BACK MADE DISTURBANCE WAS THROWING RACIAL SLURS AT THE COACH. AND ONCE THE COACH TRIED TO DANCE SITUATION, THE KID THEN KICKED OUR COACH IN THE HEAD SEVERAL TIMES AND ITS CULTURAL COMING DOWN. HE BACKED OFF. AND THEN, MR LARRY, OUR SECURITY OFFICER, YOU KNOW, HELP! CALM DOWN THE CHILD. UM MANY OF US DO KNOW SOME OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE SEEN THIS VIDEO ME AS A MOTHER AS A HAS A STUDENT THERE. UM, I FEEL HE DID NOTHING WRONG AND I FEEL THAT PEOPLE SHOULD SUPPORT HIM. LOT OF PEOPLE MIGHT HAVE TAKEN IT A DIFFERENT WAY. WE ALSO DID SIGN A PETITION. WE HAVE 4153 PEOPLE THAT SIGNED IT IN LESS THAN A WEEK. UM I JUST WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW THAT THEIR COACH IS A VERY, VERY AWESOME CLUTCH. SOME OF THESE KIDS DON'T EVEN HAVE HIM AS A TEACHER. HE WANTS BY THE HALL. HEY, GUYS, HOW YOU DOING? AND IT'S YOU KNOW , MOST PEOPLE DON'T HAVE THE TIME TO TAKE. I TALKED TO HIS CHILDREN. ONE IS CHILDREN. SHE ACTUALLY WENT TO COACH TALKING ABOUT HOW SHE COULDN'T AFFORD HER CHEERED. HE'S LIKE, YOU KNOW, I CAN HELP YOU BECAUSE STARTING A FUNDRAISER WE CAN DO THIS AND WE CAN HELP. AGAIN NOT MOST TEACHERS DO THAT THESE KIDS PROTESTED FOR HIM TWICE. THEY CHOSE NOT TO EAT LUNCH INSTEAD OF GOING TO THE ENTER THE GYM. TO PROTEST TO GET THEIR TEACHER BACK. AND THEN AGAIN ON FRIDAY, UH, THEY DID A WALKOUT, WHICH MAY BE PROUD. YOU KNOW THAT MY SON ACTUALLY HAD A VOICE, AND IT'S ACTUALLY STANDING UP FOR SOMETHING HE BELIEVES IN. I DO BELIEVE THAT COACH DESERVES HIS JOB BACK. AND IF NOT, HIS NAME NEEDS TO BE CLEAR. BECAUSE I DO BELIEVE THAT HE WAS WRONGLY FIRED, SLASHED VOLUNTARILY RESIGNED AS WHAT WAS SENT OUT.
UM. I JUST I JUST THINK THAT OUR TEACHERS NEED TO BE RESPECTED AND SUPPORTED WHEN SITUATIONS HAPPEN LIKE THIS IN THE SCHOOL YOU GOT YOU GOTTA WORRY ABOUT KIDS. THEN YOU GOTTA WORRY ABOUT YOUR KIDS. FIND ANOTHER COACHES INCIDENT WHERE SOME LADY TOLD ME THAT HER KID SO MY PRINCIPAL GET CHOKED OUT BY A CHILD. THE CHILD . AS IN THIS SET, HE GOT SUSPENDED FOR THREE DAYS LOST HIS JOB. AND I JUST DON'T FEEL THAT THAT'S FAIR. THEY HAVE A YOUNG BRILLIANT COACH GET FIRED, FIRM SAID INTO THEM. AND I'M DONE. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MR NORRIS. OUR 2ND 2ND SPEAKER
[00:25:05]
TONIGHT IS RACHEL DAVIS. HELLO MY NAME IS RACHEL DAVIS. AND I'M AN ALUMNI OF CFB AND I'M CURRENTLY A SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER ASSISTANT. I'M HONESTLY DISCUSSED IT. I HAVE TO STAY IN HERE AND BRING THIS ISSUE TO YOUR ATTENTION IN THIS WAY. I WOULD LIKE TO YOU. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY YOU THINK IT'S OKAY FOR STUDENTS TO ASSAULT TEACHERS? DO YOU REALLY THINK IT'S OKAY? I WAS ASSAULTED BY A STUDENT ON SEPTEMBER 1ST 2022. I WAS KICKED IN THE KNEE BY THIS CHILD. I AM IN A KNEE BRACE. IT HAS BEEN SEVEN MONTHS. SEVEN MONTHS OF ME BEING IN A KNEE BRACE. I LET MY ADMIN KNOW THAT I WAS ASSAULTED. I STARTED THE WORKERS COMPENSATION PROCESS.I'VE BEEN GOING THROUGH IT SINCE SEPTEMBER 1ST AND HAVE RECENTLY BEEN DENIED. BENEFITS FOR ME TO HAVE SURGERY TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I ALSO THINK IT'S DISRESPECTFUL THAT I HAVE A STUDENT WHO WAS THREATENING TO BREAK MY LEGS AND RIPPED THEM OFF MY BODY. YIKES I ALSO HAVE THIS STUDENTS THREATENED TO PUNCH ME IN THE FACE. PUNCH MY ADMIN IN THE FACE, AND THE BUREAU S THAT COMES IN IT'S A DAILY OCCURRENCE . I'VE ASKED MY ADMIN TO PLEASE GIVE ME THE CPI TRAINING SO I CAN ASSIST THE CHILD WHEN THIS CHILD BECOMES DISRUPTIVE AND VERY VIOLENT. I'D LIKE TO SAY I'VE BEEN TOLD. IT DOESN'T NEED . I DON'T NEED TO WRITE THIS MOMENT. IT'S NOT NEEDED, BUT I'M IN THIS CLASSROOM WITH THIS CHILD DAILY. WHO IS VIOLENT. I ALSO FIND IT VERY INTERESTING THAT I HAVE THREE X ADMINISTRATORS SITTING ON THIS BOARD TONIGHT, DOCTOR BLACK, YOU ARE MY PRINCIPAL FROM 2010 TO 2012. DR HAMLIN. YOU WERE MY PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATOR BETWEEN 2013 OR 12 4013 AT BLAYLOCK AND THEN KELLY, YOUR SULLIVAN. YOU WERE ALSO AN ADMINISTRATOR AT CREEK VIEW WHEN I WENT TO CREEK VIEW BETWEEN THE YEARS OF 2015 2016. WHEN WHEN A TEACHER OR OR A STAFF MEMBER CALLED FOR ASSISTANCE. Y'ALL WERE RIGHT THERE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT. WHY WHY CAN'T WE BE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT NOW? WHEN I CALL FOR ASSISTANCE NINE TIMES OUT OF 10, NO ONE WANTS TO COME TO MY AID. I DEAL WITH THIS CHILD BY MYSELF. WHO IS THREATENING TO BREAK MY LEGS OFF. I HAVE CALLED MULTIPLE TIMES. NO ONE WANTS TO ANSWER MY CALLS. I HONESTLY I IT'S SAD. UM BUT I THINK THAT CHANGES NEED TO BE MADE AND INSTEAD OF ANNOUNCING WHEN Y'ALL ARE COMING TO THE SCHOOLS, I THINK THAT YOU ALL NEED TO COME UNANNOUNCED AND SEE EXACTLY HOW IT IS BECAUSE WHEN Y'ALL ANNOUNCED THAT Y'ALL ARE COMING, EVERYTHING'S IN PLACE. STUDENTS ARE ON THEIR BEST BEHAVIOR, SO YOU'RE NOT GETTING THE TRUE PICTURE. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE YOU ALL COME TO OUR SCHOOLS AND ANNOUNCED VERY SOON. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MISS DAVIS. OUR THIRD SPEAKER TONIGHT. IS THE REVEREND WILLIE RAINWATER. GOOD EVENING. MY NAME IS WILLIE RAINWATER LEAVE IT TO 06 OTHER LOCHS AND CARROLLTON, TEXAS. I IOVE AH DEDICATE. AT LEAST 65 YEARS OF MY LIFE TO THIS COMMUNITY. AND THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. I ACTUALLY NEVER HAD A CHILD. COMING UP. UH, OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY. ALL MY LIFE WAS SERIOUS LIFE. RETIRED. BEEN GONE FROM HERE OF ABOUT THREE YEARS. I HAVEN'T BEEN TO SCHOOL BOARD MEETING. WIFE IS BACK THERE AND WANTING TO RAIN WATER FOR SHE'S RIGHT BACK THERE. I HAVE DEDICATED, UH ALL MY LIFE.
TO THIS COMMUNITY TO BUILD A COMMUNITY. I'LL RETIRED AND BEING GONE IN THREE YEARS FROM THE SCHOOLBOY. BUT I GUESS SOME CALLS AND PEOPLE CALLING ME TOO. COME AND SPEAK TO COME AND HELP AND EXPLAIN TO THEM RETIRED. I'M OUT OF IT. I'M TIRED. I'M PLAYING GOLF. BUT THEY STILL KEEP CALLING AND KEEP CALLING AND READING THE PAPER. YOU KNOW, THAT'S A BAD THINGS GOING ON.
AND I WANT TO GIVE MY BLESSINGS TO THOSE YOUNG KIDS, MOTHERS AND FAMILIES HAVE PASSED AWAY. ON THIS DRUG DEAL. I HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. THIS IS NOTHING
[00:30:03]
NEW WHEREAS SCHOOL DISTRICT WE HAD TROUBLE WITH DRUGS AND GUNS AND GAMES. DR DAVIS WAS OUR SUPER TENDER. HOW MANY OF YOU KNOW DR DAVIES. YOU DIDN'T HOLD LEVEL. YOU MUST DON'T KNOW HIM TOO. WELL, YOU KNOW HIM. BUT ANYWAY MOST Y'ALL DON'T KNOW HIM. YOU'RE NEW IN TOWN. I STARTED OUT AT, UH 15 YEARS 15 YEARS OLD. DOING A CIVIL RIGHTS. BUT JUSTICE AND FREEDOM AND CARLTON BUT BLACK PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO GO TO SCHOOL AT DISCOUNT IN FROM GRAD SCHOOL DISTRICT.ALL OF MY LIFE. I NEVER HAD THE OPPORTUNITY. TO GO TO CARLTON FROM GRADE SCHOOL DISTRICT BECAUSE I WAS BORN BLACK AND WASN'T MY FAULT. BUT I WAS TREATED LIKE IT WAS MY FAULT.
THEN UH, GOING TO BOOKER T. WASHINGTON THEY SENT US INTO THE INNER CITY. ALL WE GIVE US THE OLD RECORD JUNKIE BUS, BUT WE MADE IT. BUT GOING TO SCHOOL INTO THE INNER CITY AND COMING OUT OF COTTON PATCH SHOES AND LIVING IN A TOWN LIKE CARLTON FREEDOM AND GETTING ALONG WITH EVERYBODY AND LOVING THEY BUST US INTO A JUNGLE. INTERSTATE IT BACK IN THEM DAYS IN THE SIXTIES. WAS BAD, BAD BAD. HE WAS KILLING AND SHOOTING IN DALLAS, TEXAS, AND WE COME OUT OF THAT YELLOW BUS AND THE GANG GO STUDENTS AND THOUGHT WE HAD MONEY BECAUSE WE CAME OUT FROM THE COUNTRY. STICK TO WHAT? I'M SORRY. YOUR TIME HAS EXPIRED. I'M SORRY TO CUT YOU OFF. BUT YOU'RE THREE MINUTES HAVE EXPIRED. THANK YOU SO MUCH SO SORRY. ALRIGHT. UM, WE'RE GOING TO MOVE NOW. AGENDA ITEM NUMBER FOUR, WHICH ARE NON ITEM NON ACTION ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION, SO
[4. Non-Action Items for Discussion]
WE'LL START WITH FOUR A, WHICH IS A PRESENTATION BY DALLAS COUNTY COLLEGE, DR WEST LEAVE THIS TO YOU. THERE YOU ARE. YES THE DUCK. THE DALLAS COLLEGE FOLKS ARE MOVING TO THE PODIUM AND I DID WANT TO SAY THAT. WE'RE HONORED TO HAVE THEM HERE TONIGHT. THEY WANTED THE OPPORTUNITY TO SAY HELLO TO YOU ALL AND THEY WANT AN OPPORTUNITY TO BRAG ON OUR STUDENTS. AND OF COURSE WE WANTED THEM TO DO THAT. ALSO WANTED TO TELL YOU THAT IT WAS OUR HONORED THAT, AS THEY HAD ASKED TO COME DO THIS. THEY ALSO HAD UP AND THEY WE ASKED THEM ALSO IF THEY'D COME UP AND MEET WITH US, SO ASSISTANT SOUPS AND CHIEFS AND I MET WITH THEM TO EVEN TALK MORE ABOUT HOW WE CAN INCREASE OUR PARTNERSHIPS WITH DALLAS COLLEGE . SO WELCOME DALLAS COLLEGE AND THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE. WELL THANK YOU ALL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY. I'M JUSTIN LENNON.I SERVED AS CHANCELLOR OF DALLAS COLLEGE AND WE'RE SO PROUD OF THE PARTNERSHIP. THAT WE HAVE WITH EACH OF YOU. SO UM, FIRST OF ALL, DR ELDRIDGE, WELCOME. WE LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH YOU AND DR BLACK AND BOARD. WE APPRECIATE ALL YOU DO TO SUPPORT CHILDREN IN THIS COMMUNITY, AND WE HAVE BROUGHT OUR A TEAM HERE WITH US THIS EVENING THAT YOU'LL HEAR FROM OUR PROVOST, DR FLOYD AND ALSO THE INTERIM PRESIDENT AT BROOKHAVEN, DOCTOR CHRISTMAS LIKE OH, AH, AND WE JUST WANT TO SHARE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT, UH, WITH THE PARTNERSHIP IS GARNERING THE OUTCOMES THAT WE'RE ACHIEVING ON BEHALF OF STUDENTS IN OUR COMMUNITY. AND AT DALLAS COLLEGE. WE REALLY BELIEVE THAT WE ARE THE BRIDGE TO ECONOMIC MOBILITY AND PROSPERITY. FOR THOSE SEEKING TO GET INTO THE EDUCATIONAL PIPELINE AND THEN FOR BUSINESS EMPLOYERS SEEKING TO GET PEOPLE TO WORK. AND WE HAVE RAPIDLY EXPANDED OUR DUAL CREDIT OFFERINGS AS YOU'LL SEE, UM AND SOME OF THE PRESENTATION OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS BECAUSE AGAIN WE BELIEVE THAT OPPORTUNITY IS FOR ALL AND WE WANT TO CREATE A COLLEGE GOING COLLEGE GOING CULTURE IN THIS COMMUNITY, AND WE INVEST HEAVILY AS YOU'LL SEE IN SOME INFORMATION WILL PROVIDE IN UM, IN OUR STUDENTS IN THAT WE DON'T CHARGE FOR DUAL CREDIT FOR EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL, UM, OPPORTUNITIES, SO THAT MEANS WHEN WE HAVE OUR COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES NEXT MONTH THERE WILL BE MANY STUDENTS ACROSS THAT STAGE WITH AN ASSOCIATES DEGREE OR CREDENTIAL FROM US, UH, THAT THAT WE HAVE SCHOLARSHIPS THOSE DOLLARS THAT THEY HAVEN'T HAD TO PAY FOR IT, SO THEY HAVE A LEG UP ON THEIR EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY.
AND SO WE CAN'T MAKE THESE LEVEL INVESTMENTS. WE CAN'T PROVIDE THIS OPPORTUNITY. WITHOUT LEADERSHIP. FROM OUR BOARD, AND SO WE'RE LUCKY TO HAVE WITH US THIS EVENING. UH ONE OF OUR LONGEST SERVING BOARD MEMBERS, DEANNA FLORES, UH, AND WITH HER LEADERSHIP, SHE'S ONE OF OUR FORMER CHAIRS OF OUR BOARD WITH HER LEADERSHIP AND THAT OF OUR OTHER BOARD MEMBERS. LIKE I SAID, WE HAVE INVESTED HEAVILY TO EXPAND OR EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL DOOR CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES. SO AGAIN. THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING US TO BE HERE AND WITH THAT TRUST AT THE END
[00:35:04]
OF FLORES. GOOD EVENING. DOCTOR ALREADY IS WELCOME TO NORTH TEXAS CHAIR BLACK AND BOARD MEMBERS. AH GOOD EVENING ON BEHALF OF DALLAS COLLEGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES. AS DR LAUREN SAID, MY NAME IS DIANA FLORES AND I REPRESENT DISTRICT SIX. PARTS OF DISTRICT SIX ARE COMPRISED OF CARROLLTON AND FARMERS BRANCH PRECINCTS. THE OTHER TRUSTEE WHO REPRESENTS OTHER PRECINCTS WITHIN CARROLLTON FARMERS BRANCH IS, UH BILL RITTER. HE'S AT MONDAY THURSDAY SERVICES WERE NOT FOR THAT HE'D BE HERE WITH US TONIGHT. UM AS UH, THAT SALON AND SAID. AND I WANT TO REITERATE. WE'RE ONE OF THE LARGEST COMMUNITY COLLEGES IN THE STATE OF TEXAS AND ALSO IN THE NATION AND WE TAKE GREAT PRIDE AND THAT WE CAN OFFER OVER 300 DEGREES AND CERTIFICATES TO PREPARE OUR STUDENTS FOR REAL WORLD SKILLS AND PROFESSIONS. NOT ONLY DO YOU AWARD DEGREES AND CERTIFICATES, WE ALSO PROVIDE A LOT OF WORKFORCE TRAINING. AS YOU KNOW, THERE'S A SHORTAGE OF SKILLED LABOR NOT ONLY IN NORTH TEXAS BUT THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY. AND SO DALLAS COLLEGE IS VERY DILIGENT ABOUT KEEPING ITS FINGER ON THE PULSE. OF THE TRENDS THAT ARE OUT THERE AND THE SKILLED WORKERS THAT ARE NEEDED FOR CURRENT POSITIONS. BUT ALSO THOSE ARE BETTER TO BECOMING ONE OF THOSE BEING THE DRIVERLESS VEHICLES. AH THAT WE'RE READING MORE AND MORE ABOUT WE HAVE A PROGRAM CEDAR VALLEY COLLEGE TO RESPOND TO THAT. WE UH, IN THAT WE ALSO WORK WITH BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE STAYING ABREAST OF WHAT THEIR NEEDS ARE, SO WE'RE VERY PROUD OF ALL THESE PARTNERSHIPS THAT HELP US TRULY FULFILL OUR MISSION. WHICH IS TO UM EDUCATE I'M ALWAYS TRANSFORM. I'M ALWAYS REPEATING THE MISSION. IT KIND OF I HAD A SENIOR MOMENT IS TO TRANSFORM LIVES AND COMMUNITIES THROUGH HIGHER EDUCATION AND BECAUSE OF THIS PARTNERSHIP WITH KILT AND FARMERS BRANCH, YOU'RE ALLOWING US TO DO THAT BECAUSE YOU'RE DOING YOUR PART ON THE PUBLIC EDGE SIDE TO THEN HELP THEM TRACK INTO US AND HIGHER EDUCATION. SO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE PARTNERSHIP. THAT AND WE HOPE THAT IT WILL GET STRONGER.THANK YOU FOR INVITING OUR STAFF TO MEET WITH YOUR STAFF TO SEE HOW WE CAN MORE CLOSELY ALIGNED AND WORK TOGETHER AGAIN. THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING US TO VISIT WITH YOU TONIGHT. GOOD EVENING, UH, SUPERINTENDENT ELBRIDGE, CHAIR. DAVIS AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES WERE REALLY PLEASED TO BE WITH YOU HERE TONIGHT. MY NAME IS DR SHONDA FLOYD. I'M THE PROVOST FOR DALLAS COLLEGE. I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE A LITTLE VIDEO WITH YOU. THAT JUST TELLS YOU A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION AND THE WORK THAT WE DO. HMM. MM HMM.
[00:40:42]
OKAY SO WHAT I ALWAYS LIKE TO TELL EVERYONE AND I HOPE YOU HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO ENJOY THAT VIDEO IS WE ARE NOT ONLY ONE OF THE LARGEST COMMUNITY COLLEGES IN THE STATE OF TEXAS, AND IN FACT, THE NATION. I'M GOING TO STICK WITH MY WE'RE THE THIRD LARGEST IN THE NATION. WE WERE JUST AT OUR NATIONAL CONFERENCE AND I SAID IT THERE IN FRONT OF EVERYONE. SO NO ONE'S CORRECTING ME. SO WE STILL RANK IS THIRD LARGEST COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN THE NATION. BUT WE ARE ALSO AND THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE'RE VERY PROUD OF ONE OF THE MOST AFFORDABLE. IT'S $79 A CREDIT, WHICH IS INCLUSIVE OF LEARNING RESOURCE MATERIALS. SO WE'RE VERY PLEASED BECAUSE OF THE LEADERSHIP OF OUR BOARD. WE WERE ABLE TO GET THAT INITIATIVE APPROVED AND IT'S REALLY BEEN BENEFICIAL FOR OUR STUDENTS WHO PRIOR TO THIS, ABOUT THREE QUARTERS OF OUR STUDENTS DIDN'T HAVE THEIR BOOKS. THAT THEY NEEDED TO FINISH THEIR CLASSES WHEN THE CLASSES WERE IN WEEK.12 SO THAT'S ONLY A 16 WEEK COURSE YOU COULD IMAGINE THE DISADVANTAGE THEY WERE AT PRIOR TO THIS. THIS SLIDE REALLY TELLS YOU ABOUT WHY WE STARTED TO ENGAGE IN WORK WITH OUR I S DS LIKE YOU OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS , YOU'LL SEE THAT ROUGHLY 50% OF THE WORKING INDUSTRY THE COMPANIES, THE CORPORATIONS SAID THAT THEY COULD FIND ABOUT 50% OF THEIR SKILLED WORKERS FROM OUR POPULATION OF CITIZENS HERE IN DALLAS. YOU'LL ALSO FIND ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS SLIDE, WHERE IT SAID ONE IN FOUR ARE ONLY 25% OF CITIZENS IN DALLAS WERE ABLE TO EARN A LIVABLE WAGE , SO YOU'LL SEE THE HUGE GAP THERE. SO EVEN THOUGH WE WERE DOING A LOT OF GREAT WORK IN THE HIGHER ED SPACE, WE REALLY FELT THE NEED TO DIG BACK FURTHER TO EIGHTH GRADE NINTH GRADE SO THAT WE CAN START TO IMPACT STUDENTS EARLIER. ABOUT A CAREER CHOICE, A CAREER PATH AND HOW THEY MIGHT ENGAGE IN THAT WORK. SO IT WAS AROUND 2015 AGAIN AS A RESULT OF GREAT LEADERSHIP IN OUR TRUSTEES AND OUR CHANCELLOR THAT WE MADE THE DECISION TO REALLY BE INTENTIONAL ABOUT OUR PARTNERSHIPS WITH INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT SO THAT WE COULD IMPACT STUDENTS EARLIER, THEREBY CHANGING THEIR LIFE TRAJECTORY. THIS SLIDE TALKS ABOUT THE LIVES THAT WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO CHANGE SINCE THAT TIME. THIS IS DATA FROM 2016 TO 2020 WHERE YOU'LL SEE THAT WE'VE AWARDED OVER 1600 ASSOCIATE DEGREES OVER 500 COLLEGE CERTIFICATES. WE'VE ALSO BEEN ABLE TO SCHOLARSHIPS 16 POINT 3,000,002 STUDENTS IN WAVING SCHOLARSHIPS FOR OUR STUDENTS WERE EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL AND DUAL CREDIT. SO THAT MEANS THEY'RE IN HIGH SCHOOL. BUT ALSO ATTENDING OUR COLLEGE COURSES AT THE SAME TIME FOR FREE. AND THEN YOU'LL SEE THAT 30% OF ALL OF OUR DALLAS COLLEGE ENROLLMENTS DURING THIS TIME PERIOD MAKE UP, UH UP DUAL CREDIT STUDENTS. CURRENTLY OUR POPULATION OF DUAL CREDIT STUDENTS IS ABOUT 27,000. SO THAT'S BOTH ARE DUAL CREDIT REGULARLY MATRICULATING AS WELL AS OUR EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL P TECH STUDENTS, SO THAT'S ABOUT A THIRD OF OUR POPULATION. THIS TALKS ABOUT THE SUCCESS THAT WE'VE HAD IN DIFFERENT TYPES OF INITIATIVES, SO YOU'LL NOTICE THAT WE HAVE OVER 84 CAREER IN COLLEGE READINESS MODELS.
THEY'RE BROKEN DOWN THERE WHERE WE HAVE AN EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL MODEL. WE HAVE P TECH MODELS AS WELL AS SOME TEA STEM ACADEMIES. YOU'LL ALSO NOTE THE LEVEL OF ENGAGEMENT THAT WE NOW HAVE WITH OUR HIGH SCHOOLS AND I SD PARTNERS TOTALLING 88. AS WELL AS CHARTER SCHOOLS AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS. SO OUR BREATH AND BAND WITH HIS REALLY INCREASED AS A RESULT OF THAT DECISION TO BE INTENTIONAL ABOUT ENGAGING THIS POPULATION. THIS SLIDE. I LOVE BECAUSE THIS IS A CELEBRATION OF YOUR STUDENTS WE HAVE OVER 451 CARROLLTON FARMERS BRANCH STUDENTS ENROLLED WITH US AND THEY ARE COVERING OVER 5164 CREDIT HOURS WITH 79% SUCCESS. I LOVE THIS STATISTIC BECAUSE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHEN WE FIRST STARTED THIS WORK REALLY QUESTIONED WHETHER OR NOT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WERE PREPARED TO DO COLLEGE WORK. THEY QUESTION THEIR PSYCHE, THEIR MATURITY.
THEIR READINESS. THIS IS DEMONSTRATION AND PROOF POSITIVE THAT IF YOU ALLOW THEM THE OPPORTUNITY THEY SHOW UP AND THEY SHOW UP IN BIG WAYS, BECAUSE SUCCESS FOR US MEANS THAT A B OR C IN THE COURSE SO WE'RE REALLY HAPPY ABOUT THAT. YOU'LL SEE HERE THAT OUT OF THAT
[00:45:03]
BIGGER NUMBER WHEN I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIPS ON THE OTHER SLIDE, SPECIFICALLY CARROLLTON FARMERS BRANCH WE'VE PROVIDED OVER 348,000 AND WAIVERS, WHICH ARE SCHOLARSHIPS TO OUR EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL . DUAL CREDIT STUDENTS THAT ARE RIGHT HERE IN YOUR INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT. SO THAT'S SOMETHING ALSO TO CELEBRATE AND SINCE THE START OF OUR RELATIONSHIP IN MORE PARTICULAR 2021 TO 2022 WE'VE AWARDED 53 ASSOCIATE DEGREES TO YOUR CLASS OF 2022 STUDENTS. THAT MEANS YOU HAD 53 STUDENTS WHO GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL BUT ALSO EARN THEIR ASSOCIATE DEGREE AT THE SAME TIME, SO THAT'S PHENOMENAL, AND IT SHOULD BE CELEBRATED. AT THIS TIME, I'M GOING TO INVITE UP DR CHRISTA SILICA. HELLO DR BLACK DR ELDREDGE BOARD. UM I'M KRISTA SLACK. OH, I AM THE INTERIM PRESIDENT AT BROOKHAVEN, YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD CAMPUS, AND, UM, I'VE GOTTEN TO, UH, SPEAK WITH DR ELDREDGE, WHOSE IN HER SECOND WE'RE FINISHING YOUR SECOND WEEK AND I'VE BEEN FOCUSED ON BROOKHAVEN FOR ABOUT FOUR WEEKS . SO I LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING ALL OF YOU AND GETTING TO WORK WITH YOU. SO I GET TO SHARE JUST ONE REALLY COOL THING HAPPENING AT YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD COLLEGE AND THAT IS, UM, THE EARLY COLLEGE CENTER. SO YOU PROBABLY ARE ALREADY AWARE OF THE NEW BUILDING GOING UP. IT'S COMING ALONG AND GOT TO WALK THROUGH IT LAST WEEK, BUT I JUST WANT TO TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT IT. THOSE PICTURES DON'T DO JUSTICE TO IT. UM BUT IT IT'S ABOUT 48,000 SQUARE FEET ON 22 STORIES. BUT IT WHAT I LOVE ABOUT IT. IT'S KIND OF LIKE AN A SHAPE BECAUSE SEE THE LAYING DOWN A. BUT THERE IS LOTS OF GATHERING, CONVENING, STUDY SPACE HANGING OUT SPACE. IT IS GOING TO BE SO AIRY AND WELCOMING, UM IT THE LAYOUT IS SO OPEN THAT STUDENTS CAN JUST POP OUT TO GET FRESH AIR SO EASILY. SO WHAT'S SHE IN THE MIDDLE IN THE BLUE? THAT IS YOUR 300 SEAT. CONVENING SIR. VORY I LEARNED A NEW WORD LAST WEEK. IT'S A SURVEY. IT'S NOT A KITCHEN OR A CAFETERIA, BUT SO WE'RE NOT SERVING MEALS THAT CAN BE A YOU KNOW, FOR RESOURCE FAIRS OR ACTIVITIES OR A GATHERING. RACES UM, THERE'S A BIG BALCONY ON THE SECOND FLOOR THAT'S AGAIN OUTDOOR. THEY CAN STEP RIGHT OUT IN THE AIR. INDOOR SEATING. VERY NICE COURTYARD IN THE AT THE END OF THE A THEN DOWN TO THE BUSINESS . WE'VE GOT FOUR SCIENCE LABS BECAUSE I KNOW CLIENTS ARE, YOU KNOW, DEDICATED LABS NEED LOTS OF SPACE FOR THOSE, UM 11 CLASSROOMS. THOSE ARE THE DARK PINK ON THAT SLIDE. THE FOUR LABS ARE THE LIGHT PINK, THE BLUE OR ALL OF THE LITTLE STUDY SPACES, HUDDLE SPACES, GATHERING PLACES, THERE'LL BE ROOM FOR SOME OFFICES AND ADMINISTRATIVE SPACE. I KNOW YOU CAN'T REALLY SEE THAT TOP PICTURE, BUT YOU CAN KIND OF SENSE. THAT'S THE TOP OF THE A. THAT'S POINTING FORWARD OF THE BUILDING. AND THEN THERE'S THE GREEN SPACE AND ANOTHER BUILDING. SO THAT IS AN EXISTING BUILDING ON CAMPUS. THAT'S BEING EXPANDED WITH ADDITIONAL CLASSROOMS. SO EARLY COLLEGE STUDENTS ARE GOING TO HAVE A WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL PLACE TO BE. IT'LL BE THEIR HOME BASE ON CAMPUS, SO ON A COLLEGE CAMPUS, BUT THEIR OWN SPACES AS WELL. WE EXPECT TO HAVE BE READY TO GO IN SEPTEMBER, WHICH YOU'LL IMMEDIATELY REALIZES, JUST SHORT OF STARTING FOR FALL. UM THAT WE'RE HOPING THE RAIN STAYS AT BAY WILL FINISH EARLY IN THE FALL, AND THEN YOU COULD DO A MID YEAR MOVE IN IF YOU LIKE. BUT YOU KNOW, I'VE MET PRINCIPAL EISELEY. AND YOU KNOW, EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL. UM CELTIC FARMERS BRANCH IS ONE OF OUR OLDEST. IT'S SORT OF OUR VERY FIRST EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOLS AND YOU KNOW, HE'S A WONDERFUL PRINCIPLE. GREAT STUDENTS. I GET TO SEE THEM AROUND CAMPUS SO EXCITING THINGS COMING. THANK YOU. AND OUR LAST SLIDE IS ABOUT OUR DALLAS COUNTY PROMISE WHEN I TALKED EARLIER ABOUT WAIVERS AND SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS, THIS IS HOW WE'RE ABLE TO MAKE THAT POSSIBLE THROUGH OUR PROMISE PROGRAM, AND WE'RE HAPPY TO SAY THAT ALL FIVE OF THE PARTICIPATING CARROLLTON FARMERS BRANCH SCHOOLS HAVE PROMISED STUDENTS SO WE REALLY APPRECIATE YOU TAKING TIME TO LET US SHARE TODAY AND THAT'S THE END OF OUR PRESENTATION. I COULD TAKE QUESTIONS IF YOU HAVE THEM.THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE PRESENTATION BOARD MEMBERS. DO YOU HAVE QUESTIONS? UH, LET ME START WITH MISS BENAVIDEZ AND THEN WORK MY WAY BACK TOWARDS THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATION.
WHEN WILL THE BUILDING BE COMPLETE? OF THIS YEAR. NICE WONDERFUL. THANK YOU. MR ERIC. I
[00:50:07]
JUST WANTED TO MAKE A COMMENT THAT I APPRECIATE YOUR PARTNERSHIP WITH OUR DISTRICT.IT MAKES SUCH A DIFFERENCE FOR OUR STUDENTS. IT'S THIS CHANGES TRAJECTORIES FOR LIFE, SO WE CAN'T DO THAT WITHOUT Y'ALL. AND WE ARE SO GRATEFUL AS A PARENT OF A STUDENT THAT DID TAKE ADVANTAGE OF DUAL CREDIT IN HIGH SCHOOL. I CAN SAY THAT I THANK YOU FOR THOSE OPPORTUNITIES AND THAT WE HAD AND I KNOW THERE'S MORE OPPORTUNITIES COMING IN THE FUTURE WITH CFB, WHICH IS EXCITING BECAUSE THIS IS REALLY GOING TO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE FOR OUR KIDS GOING FORWARD. AND WE COULD NOT DO IT WITHOUT YOU. SO THANK YOU. AND I'M A PROUD GRADUATE OF BROOKHAVEN COLLEGE ASSOCIATES NURSING DEGREE, SO, YES. ANY OTHER COMMENTS. QUESTIONS FROM GUYS. THANK YOU.
WE'D LIKE TO THANK ALL OF YOU FOR COMING OUT AND GIVING THE STEAM. EXCUSE ME. STOP FOR ME.
TEAM PRESENTATION TONIGHT. UM AND YOU ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN MAKING IMPACT, AND WE APPRECIATE THE PARTNERSHIP. SO THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE. WE'LL MOVE NOW TO, UM, ITEM FOUR B, WHICH IS, UM, PRESENTATION AROUND OUR FIVE THAT DR LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND MISS MCKAY. OH, AND MISS O'SULLIVAN. THIS IS YOU. ALL RIGHT. GOOD EVENING, DR ELDREDGE, DR BLACK AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. TONIGHT. WE ARE EXCITED TO BRING WITH YOU AND SHARE ONE ASPECT OF OUR ROLE AS SERVING AS CHIEF. THE SCHOOL LEADERSHIP THAT IS LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT IN C F B , I S D WE COACH AND SUPPORT PRINCIPLES. ASPIRING PRINCIPALS , ADMINISTRATORS AND ASPIRING ADMINISTRATORS TO LEAD USING THE FRAMEWORK OF THE FIVE THAT DRIVE AND ALL WE DO IN CFB MISMATCH CHILD. LEADERSHIP EXPERT JOHN MAXWELL SAYS THE SINGLE BIGGEST WAY TO IMPACT AN ORGANIZATION IS TO FOCUS ON LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT. TONIGHT WE WOULD LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT THREE PATHWAYS IN WHICH WE DEVELOP OUR LEADERS WITHIN CFB. PRINCIPAL PLC S ASPIRING PRINCIPLE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY, A P L, A AND THE ASPIRING ADMINISTRATOR ACADEMY. THE ROLE OF THE CAMPUS PRINCIPLE IS REWARDING, AND YET IT CAN BE VERY LONELY AT TIMES. THIS IS WHY PRINCIPLES NEED THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH AND THROUGH OTHERS. DURING OUR PRINCIPAL PLC S. WE SHARE WHAT'S WORKING WELL, AND WE ALSO PROBLEM SOLVED TOGETHER THE AREAS THAT NEED IMPROVEMENT. THE COLLABORATION BROADENS OUR LENS AND BRINGS US TOGETHER WITH A SINGLE FOCUS ON IMPROVING STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT FOR ALL STUDENTS. NEW PRINCIPLES AND NEW TO CFB PRINCIPLES HAVE A UNIQUE SET OF NEEDS. THEREFORE WE HAVE PROVIDED AN ADDITIONAL PLC FOR THIS SPECIFIC GROUP OF LEADERS.
THEY NEED A SAFE PLACE WHERE THEY CAN ASK QUESTIONS AND HAVE A STRONG START TO THE PRINCIPAL SHIP. THE ENERGY AND EXCITEMENT THAT NEW PRINCIPLES BRINGING TO C R CFB FAMILY IS CONTAGIOUS.
LET'S LISTEN TO ONE OF OUR HOMEGROWN PRINCIPLES. LEON CHUA LOCK FROM DAN F. LONG MIDDLE SCHOOL SHARE ABOUT HIS LEADERSHIP JOURNEY WITHIN CFB. MY NAME IS LEON CHUA LOCK AND I HAVE THE HONOR OF SERVING AS THE PRINCIPAL AT DANA FLUNG MIDDLE SCHOOL. I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND BOTH THE ASPIRING ADMINISTRATORS ACADEMY AS WELL AS THE A P L. A THE ASPIRING ADMINISTRATOR ACADEMY REALLY HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK TO CURRENT SITTING ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL. SEE WHAT THE ACTUAL DAY TO DAY LOOKS LIKE, SEE WHAT OUR PRIORITIES WOULD BE IN THOSE DAYS AND REALLY LEARN HOW TO MANAGE AND THRIVE IN THOSE ENVIRONMENTS AND WORKING WITH INSTRUCTION IN THE A P L. A. IT WAS GEARED TOWARDS COACHING AND FEEDBACK, BECOMING AN INSTRUCTIONAL LEADER IN LEADING A CAMPUS AND LEADING OTHERS IN THE WORKFORCE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT. BOTH PROGRAMS PROVIDE A LOT OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR ME TO LEARN AND TO GROW PROFESSIONALLY. I WAS VERY THANKFUL THAT WE HAVE THESE THINGS IN THE DISTRICT TO GROW FROM WITHIN ASPIRING ADMINISTRATOR ACADEMY REALLY TAUGHT YOU HOW TO STEP INTO THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL ROLE IN THE A P L A REALLY OPENED YOUR EYES TO SOME OF THE DISTRICT SUPPORTS AND SOME OF THE DISTRICT RESOURCES AND THE BIG PICTURE ITEMS THAT YOU NEED TO COME INTO THE PRINCIPAL SHIP TO RUN A BUILDING SUCCESSFULLY. EACH ONE OF THESE PROGRAMS HAD COMPONENTS THAT WOULD THAT WERE DIRECTLY RELATED TO ASPECTS OF THE JOB THAT I WAS SEEKING. THAT COULD PREPARE ME TO IMPACT CHANGE AND IMPACT STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT ON CAMPUSES. CFB INVESTED IN ME, AND IT MADE ME VERY APPRECIATIVE OF THOSE OPPORTUNITIES AND I REALLY HAVE ENJOYED GETTING TO PROGRESS THROUGH AND CFB INTO THE FUTURE ROLES THAT THESE HAVE PREPARED ME FOR. WE HEARD MR XU LOCK TALKED ABOUT THE ASPIRING PRINCIPALS LEADERSHIP ACADEMY. THE ASPIRING PRINCIPALS LEADERSHIP ACADEMY R A P L. A IS DESIGNED FOR CURRENCY. FB ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS WHO DESIRE IN ARE INTERESTED IN BECOMING PRINCIPLES. THIS YEAR. WE WELCOME TO PARTICIPANTS THROUGH AN APPLICATION PROCESS. FROM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL. WHO MET THE
[00:55:07]
REQUIREMENTS OF BEING A CFB ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL FOR AT LEAST THE PAST TWO YEARS. OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH REGION, 10 EXPANDED THE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES AND THE LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCES FOR OUR PARTICIPANTS TO LEARN ALONGSIDE OTHER ASPIRING PRINCIPLES. THE ACADEMY REQUIRES A YEAR LONG COMMITMENT. EXTRA TIME AND EXTRA EFFORT BEYOND THE NORMAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS SUCH AS STUDYING RESEARCHING AND HOMEWORK. YES, HOMEWORK. THESE FIVE METHOD CHALLENGE. OUR PARTICIPANTS ENGAGED IN CAMPUS VISIT. WITH THE FOCUS ON WALK, THROUGHS, COACHING AND OBSERVATION. THEY PARTICIPATED IN PROGRESS MONITORING AND RESTORATIVE PRACTICES. WE APPRECIATE OUR CAMPUSES WHO OPENED THEIR CLASSROOMS AND PROVIDED SUCH MEANINGFUL LEARNING EXPERIENCES FOR OUR GROUP. DISTRICT PRESENTATIONS EXPANDED THEIR SCOPE OF RESOURCES AND PROGRAMS THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO ALL STUDENTS IN CFB. DEDICATED TIME WITH EXPERTS FROM R. C T E COUNSELING AND BEHAVIOR TEAMS. IT WAS POWERFUL TO LEARN HOW THEY WORK ALONGSIDE AND PARTNER WITH PRINCIPLES TO MEET THE NEEDS OF STUDENTS. OUR A P L. A MEMBERS ENGAGED IN LEADERSHIP WORKSHOPS THROUGH REGION 10.THEY WERE SO PROUD TO HEAR, LEARN AND EVEN HAVE THEIR PICTURE MADE WITH DR ANTHONY MOHAMMED, A RENOWNED EXPERT IN PROFESSIONAL LEARNING, COMMUNITIES AND CULTURE. ONE OF OUR BIGGEST HIGHLIGHTS. THIS YEAR WAS OUR PRINCIPAL PANEL. IT WAS A HIT. THIS IS THE TIME THAT OUR ASPIRING PRINCIPALS WERE ABLE TO SIT AND LEARN AND HEAR FROM NEW AND TENURED PRINCIPLES ABOUT WHAT IT MEANS TO LEAD A CAMPUS. QUESTIONS RANGED FROM HOW DID YOU TRANSITION FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL ROLE TO THE PRINCIPAL ROLE. HOW DO YOU DEVELOP CULTURE VISION QUESTIONS WERE ABOUT STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT AND EVEN QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW DO YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR STAFF? THEY WANTED TO KNOW IT ALL. AND WE WERE SO APPRECIATIVE OF THE PRINCIPLES BEING TRANSPARENT AND INSPIRING. AP A AP L. A GROUP MAXIMIZED EVERY MINUTE WITH THE PRINCIPLES SO THANK YOU PRINCIPLES SO MUCH FOR SHARING AND FOR BEING SUPPORTIVE TO DEVELOP THE NEXT GENERATION OF PRINCIPLES. UM AND ALWAYS HAVING TIME FOR JUST ONE MORE QUESTION. JUST ONE MORE QUESTION. OUR A P.
L A PARTICIPANTS THEN TOOK THE LEARNING FROM THE ACADEMY BACK TO THEIR OWN THEIR OWN NEEDS OF THEIR CAMPUSES AND CREATED CAMPUS INITIATIVES AND PROJECTS. THESE PICTURES CAPTURED JUST A FEW OF THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS FROM COACHING AND FEEDBACK, PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITIES, FAMILY AND STUDENT ENGAGEMENT AND RESTORATIVE PRACTICES. AND REMEMBER EARLIER WHEN WE SAID HOMEWORK. OUR ASPIRING PRINCIPALS DEDICATED TIME TO CREATE SYSTEMS AND PROGRAMS AND PRESENTATIONS TO SHARE WITH THEIR COHORT GROUP, THEIR CAMPUS AND THEIR COMMUNITY. WE WILL CLOSE OUT OUR 22 23 A P L. A WITH A CELEBRATION AND REFLECTION LATER THIS MONTH. LET'S HEAR FROM JANET FISHER AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL FROM RAINWATER ELEMENTARY, CURRENTLY A PARTICIPANT IN THE ASPIRING PRINCIPALS LEADERSHIP ACADEMY.
HI I'M JANET FISHER, THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT RAINWATER ELEMENTARY, AND I HAVE ATTENDED THE ASPIRING PRINCIPALS LEADERSHIP ACADEMY AND CFB A P L A HAS IMPACTED MY LEADERSHIP. I PREPARING ME THROUGH THE LENSES OF THE FIVE THAT DR PILLARS IN A P L. A. WE'VE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT WITH VARIOUS DISTRICT LEADERS AND ATTEND REGIONS AND CONFERENCES WITH NATIONALLY KNOWN SPEAKERS. ONE OF THE BIGGEST TAKEAWAYS I HAVE IN A PELE IS THE PROJECT OF PICKING TWO PILLARS AND FOCUSING ON THEM THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR. ONE FILLER I CHOSE WAS CULTURE AND THE OTHER PILLAR I CHOSE WAS OBSERVATION AND FEEDBACK. THROUGH THIS PROJECT.
I HAVE LEARNED HOW TO GROW MY COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND KNOWING THAT TRANSPARENCY IS KEY IN BUILDING TRUST. I HAVE SUPPORTED TEACHERS THROUGH OBSERVATION, FEEDBACK AND COACHING, AND I HAVE WORKED ON BUILDING A COLLABORATIVE CULTURE COMMITTED TO LEARNING FOR ALL STUDENTS. A P L A HAS FOSTERED MY COMMITMENT TO CFB PROVIDING A PATHWAY FOR ADVANCEMENT. AND A NETWORK OF EXPERIENCED LEADERS AND RISING LEADERS THAT I KNOW I CAN RELY ON IN THE FUTURE. IN A P L. A.
WE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT VARIOUS CAMPUSES AND OBSERVED CLASSROOMS AND TALK WITH THE CAMPUS PRINCIPLES EXPERIENCE WITH VARIOUS LEADERSHIP IN A P L . A HAS SHOWN ME THAT SEE IF HE IS DEDICATED TO GROWING THEIR OWN LEADERS. I APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY CFB HAS PROVIDED ASPIRING ADMINISTRATORS LIKE MYSELF AND GIVING US THE TOOLS TO ENHANCE OUR SKILLS SO THAT WE
[01:00:06]
MAY PROVIDE QUALITY LEADERSHIP FOR ALL STAKEHOLDERS. NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT THOSE WHO WANT TO VENTURE INTO THE WORLD OF EDUCATION ADMINISTRATION. IN RECENT YEARS, WE HAVE OFFERED A VARIETY OF LEADERSHIP ACADEMIES WITHIN CFB AFTER RECEIVING FEEDBACK FROM SOME OF OUR PARTICIPANTS, WE REVISED OUR ASPIRING ADMINISTRATORS ACADEMY, TRIPLE A TO FOCUS ON JUST PREPARING FOR THE ROLE OF THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL. WE TRULY WANT TO GROW OUR OWN. WE INTENTIONALLY SELECTED 20 PARTICIPANTS FROM DIFFERENT ROLES WITHIN R CFB FAMILY WHO MIGHT NOT HAVE KNOWN EACH OTHER YET. ON OUR FIRST MEETING. IT WAS LIKE THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, THE TRIPLE A PARTICIPANTS CAME IN QUIETLY FOUND A SEAT AND THERE WAS VERY LITTLE CONVERSATION AS EVERYONE WAITED FOR THE MEETING TO BEGIN, HOWEVER, BY OUR LAST MEETING TOGETHER, WE HAD TO USE A CAMPUS COME BACK TOGETHER STRATEGY BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL BONDING SO WELL. WHAT A GREAT PROBLEM TO HAVE. THESE LEADERS ARE COMMITTED TO AFTER SCHOOL MEETINGS. PROFESSIONAL READING, YES, MORE HOMEWORK AND WE UTILIZE BERRUTI FELIZ BOOK THIS THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL 50 FOR OUR FRAMEWORK FOR OUR TO TEXT BASED DISCUSSIONS. WE RECOGNIZE THAT THERE ARE CHALLENGES WHEN TRANSITIONING INTO THE ROLE OF AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO HAVE OUR VERY OWN CFB ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS SHARE THEIR LEARNING INSIGHT AND ADVICE. OUR TRIPLE A PARTICIPANTS ASKED THE PANELISTS . QUESTIONS SUCH AS HOW DO YOU BALANCE BEING AN INSTRUCTIONAL LEADER WITH STUDENT DISCIPLINE? WHAT ARE WAYS THAT YOU POSITIVELY IMPACT AND BUILD THE CULTURE OF A CAMPUS? AND MY FAVORITE WHAT ABOUT WORK? LIFE BALANCE AND I WAS LISTENING FOR MYSELF ON THAT ONE. WE WANT TO THANK THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS WHO SERVED ON OUR PANEL. WE APPRECIATE THEIR VULNERABILITY, ENCOURAGEMENT AND THE INSPIRATION THAT THEY SHARED WITH ALL OF US. IN OUR LAST TWO MEETINGS, WE PUT OUR TRIPLE A PARTICIPANTS KNOWLEDGE TO THE TEST PLAYING OUR VERY OWN VERSION OF WHAT WOULD YOU DO? TRIPLE A PARTICIPANTS REVIEWED REAL LIFE SCENARIOS THAT ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS ENCOUNTER ON A DAILY BASIS. THEY WERE GIVEN A FEW MINUTES TO THINK OF A RESPONSE FROM THE LENS OF AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL. THEY SHARED THEIR THINKING WITH THE GROUP AND THE COLLEAGUES ASK CLARIFYING QUESTIONS AND GAVE THEM FEEDBACK. THEY'RE THEY'RE THOUGHTFUL RESPONSES TO TOUGH SITUATIONS IS VERY ENCOURAGING. WE ARE IN GOOD HANDS WITH OUR FUTURE ADMINISTRATORS. NOW WE WILL HEAR FROM ONE OF OUR ASPIRING ADMINISTRATORS PARTICIPANT, STACEY JACKSON, A TEACHER AT DANA LONG MIDDLE SCHOOL. I AM STACEY JACKSON AND I AM AT DENNIS WONG MIDDLE SCHOOL AND I WAS A PART OF THE ASPIRING ADMINISTRATOR ACADEMY, THE ASPIRING ADMINISTRATOR ACADEMY HAS IMPACTED MY LEADERSHIP. BY GIVING ME ASTOUNDING CONFIDENCE. IT HAS HELPED ME BUILD UP AND BE A BETTER LEADER THROUGHOUT MY DAY AT SCHOOL, EVEN LIKE STUDENTS HAVE SEEN IT AND THE TEACHERS THAT I MENTOR FROM DAY TO DAY AS AN INSTRUCTIONAL FACILITATOR HAVE DEFINITELY SEEN IT AS WELL . I CAME INTO CFB WANTING TO BE A GREAT TEACHER, AND NOT ONLY DID THEY GROW THAT OUT OF ME, THEY INSPIRE ME TO WANT TO BE A LEADER. I HAVE BEEN UNDER ASTOUNDING LEADERSHIP HERE AND WANTING TO BE THAT HAS REALLY BEEN WHAT HAS HELPED GROW ME. MY PHILOSOPHY I FEEL IS IN LINE WITH THE DISTRICT VISION OF TEACHING TO THE WHOLE STUDENT AND LOVING THE WHOLE STUDENT. AND IF I CAN FASTER THAT PHILOSOPHY WITHIN TEACHERS AND BUILD THAT CULTURE WITHIN A CAMPUS, THEN WHO KNOWS THE AMAZING THINGS THAT COULD HAPPEN IN IN MY PURSUIT TO BECOME AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL, OR EVEN MORE IN THE FUTURE? THIS HAS BEEN A TOTAL GROUNDBREAKING EXPERIENCE. I LEARNED THAT MY PRESENCE MATTERS AND BEING PRESENT WITHIN CFB. MATTERS TO ME. IF YOU'RE HERE TONIGHT, AND YOU HAVE PARTICIPATED IN ANY OF THE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS IN CFB, PLEASE STAND AND BE RECOGNIZED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED DEDICATION TO GROWING AS LEADERS. ALL ORGANIZATIONS DESIRE TO BUILD A BENCH. OF STRONG LEADERS FROM WHOM THEY CAN CHOOSE SUCCESSORS FOR KEY ROLES. GREAT LEADERS BUILD THEIR BENCH. IN CFB. WE ARE COMMITTED TO DEVELOPING OUR FUTURE LEADERS AND DEVELOPING OUR CFB BENCH. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MR O'SULLIVAN, MISS. UM, MISS MCKAY? OH, BOARD MEMBERS.[01:05:07]
DO YOU HAVE QUESTIONS? MISS BRADY. UM GREAT PRESENTATION. THANK YOU. AND I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE ALL OF YOU HERE TONIGHT. THAT'S AMAZING. UM, THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME. I HEARD ONE OF YOU SAY THAT THERE'S STILL ONE MEETING TO GO WHERE THEY'LL BE REFLECTION ABOUT WHAT THEY'VE LEARNED AND WHAT THEY WANT TO DO AND SOME GOAL SETTING. CAN I INVITE MYSELF TO THAT MEETING? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR IT. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY. THANK YOU. INFORMATION.THANK YOU. IT'S HATFIELD. THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATION. THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING HERE. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE SET OF GREAT IMPACT ON YOUR TRAJECTORY AND FUTURE. SO WHAT IS NEXT? SO THIS IS WHAT WE'VE BEEN DOING? WHERE ARE WE HEADED? UM SO NEXT YEAR, WE PLAN TO EXPAND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL PLC S. WE REALIZED THAT THE TOOLKIT AND WHAT THEY NEED IS DIFFERENT THAN PRINCIPLES, SO WE ARE GOING TO EXPAND THAT NEXT YEAR AND EXCITED ABOUT THAT AND WILL CONTINUE TO GET FEEDBACK AND REVISE ANY OF THE CURRENT PROGRAMS WERE DOING SO. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS. WELL MISS MACHADO, MR SULLIVAN. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THE PRESENTATION AND THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU HAVE BEEN PARTICIPANTS OR ARE PARTICIPANTS IN THESE PROGRAMS FOR BEING HERE TONIGHT AND FOR VOLUNTEERING YOUR TIME TONIGHT INVOLVED ALL THE EXTRA TIME.
YOU'RE SPENDING. UM UM OVER THE COURSE OF THIS PAST YEAR TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM AND STEPPING UP AND BEING WILLING TO, UM TO LEAD BECAUSE THAT'S NECESSARY WITHIN AN ORGANIZATION . SO, UM, THANKS AGAIN. THANK YOU. UM WE'LL MOVE ON NOW TO ITEM OF COURSE, E. WHICH IS A FACILITIES UPDATE. MR SHAW BELIEVE THIS IS YOU. MHM.
IT'S A GOOD THING, ITS FACILITIES AND NOT TECHNOLOGY WOULD BE IN TROUBLE. SO. GOOD EVENING, DR BLACK MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. IT'S OUR PRIVILEGE TO PRESENT THE FACILITY SERVICES UPDATE. UM SO STARTING OUT WITH THE REAL POWERHOUSE AS I ADMINISTRATOR'S OFFICE ADMINISTRATORS REALLY KEEP US TOGETHER AND KEEP US GOING FOR A VERY LARGE SECTOR. WE HAVE THREE INCREDIBLE FOLKS TO HELP US OVERSEEING THE FACILITIES SERVICES FOLKS IS ROSEMARY SOSA.
SHE KEEPS OUR GUYS IN LINE KEEPS THEM WHERE THEY NEED TO BE. KEEPS A LOT OF POS OVER 206 ALMOST 225 POS A YEAR. SHE KEEPS IN LINE KEEPS EVERYBODY GOING DOOR. COCKFIELD HELPS US WITH THE RECEPTIONIST AND HELPS US WITH OUR UTILITY BILLS KEEPS EVERYTHING ON THE STRAIGHT AND NARROW AND I THINK ASHLEY MIGHT HAVE THE HARDEST JOB IN THE DISTRICT TRYING TO KEEP ME IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME. UM AND SHE ALSO HELPS WITH ALL THE BOND ADMINISTRATION SIDE. OF COURSE WITH THOSE FOLKS THEY SUPPORT BOBBIE SHOW OVERSEES OUR FACILITY SERVICES AND GUARANTEES THE CONSTRUCTION PLANNING SIDE OF THE HOUSE. OUR MISSION IS TO, UH, DESIGNED TO MAINTAIN DISTRICT FACILITIES IN AN ORDERLY, CLEAN, SAFE ENVIRONMENT, WHICH MAXIMIZES BOTH THE INSTRUCTIONAL AND FISCAL WELL BEING OF EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATION AND COMMUNITY. WE KNOW THAT SECOND TO OUR PEOPLE. OUR FACILITIES ARE NUMBER ONE INVESTMENT. UM WE DON'T RIVAL THE PEOPLE WE NEVER WILL. AND WE COULDN'T BECAUSE OUR PEOPLE ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. BUT OUR CHALLENGE IS HOW DO WE MAKE OUR FACILITY? STAND UP AND STAND STRONG AS OUR FOLKS HAVE? THAT TAKES A HUGE TEAM. UM AND OF COURSE WE GET TO LEAD HEAR LOTS ABOUT THE PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION SIDE OF THE HOUSE, BUT VERY SUDDENLY DO SO. THIS OPPORTUNITY WE'RE GONNA REALLY BE FOCUSING ON OUR FACILITIES SERVICES MAINTENANCE, CUSTODIAL SIDE OF THE HOUSE, AND THAT'S RIGHT THERE ON THE YELLOW SIDE, SO OBVIOUSLY, YEAH. YOU SEE LILIA AND LINDSEY ON OUR PROJECT MANAGEMENT SIDE. THAT'S THE CONSTRUCTION SIDE OF THE HOUSE. BUT HERE WE'RE GONNA FOCUS AND HEADING THAT UP IS OUR VERY OWN BOBBY SHAW, WHO ACTUALLY ATTENDED CFB, SO IT ALWAYS MAKES ME PROUD. WHEN WE GOT TO CFB GRAD HE KNOWS WELL, THE SECRETS ARE ALWAYS JOKED THAT THE VIVIAN FIELD RENOVATION WAS THE SEARCH FOR BOBBY'S LUNCHBOX. YEAH WE NEVER DID FIND IT. BUT WE TRIED . I THINK WE MOVED ALMOST EVERY WALL IN THAT SCHOOL TRYING THAT , UM, HE HAS STEPPED UP IN THE LAST TWO YEARS COMING UP THROUGH THE ORGANIZATION AND IS HEADED UP AND LED THE TEAM OF CAPTAINS . WE HAVE A CAPTAIN'S AT THE TABLE AND WE'LL GET INTO THE DETAILS OF THAT. I CALL THESE GUYS ARE MAGIC MAKERS BECAUSE THEY REALLY ARE INCREDIBLE. THERE HERE 260 DAYS OF THE YEAR.
THEY'RE THE FIRST ONES TO OPEN THE BUILDINGS AND THEY ARE THE LAST ONES TO CLOSE THEM DOWN AT
[01:10:05]
THE END, SO WITH THAT BOBBY WANTED TO TAKE US THROUGH THE TOUR. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU, MALCOLM. THANK YOU. BOARD MEMBERS. DR ELDRIDGE, I KNOW YOU'VE HAD THE PLEASURE OF VISITING THE FACILITIES. I LIKE TO EXPLAIN TO YOU WHO'S IN THESE FACILITIES HAS MAINTAINED THEM AND WHO'S DOING THE DAY TO DAY? JUST A QUICK OVERVIEW OF OUR DISTRICT. UM THESE ARE OUR HIGH SCHOOLS, MIDDLE SCHOOLS, ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS WE COVER. ALL THE GROUNDS ARE FULL HIGH SCHOOLS, ALL SIX MIDDLE SCHOOLS . ALL 24 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS ARE SUPPORT FACILITIES, ADMINISTRATION BUILDINGS AS WELL AS OUR OUTDOOR LEARNING CENTER AT THEIR IN KOPPEL THERE, SO WE COVER ABOUT 5.2 MILLION SQUARE FEET OF BUILDING. THAT'S A LOT OF FLOOR PLANS THAT WE HAVE TO STAFF. AS WELL AS 100 AND 820 ACRES OF SITE, WHICH WE HAVE TO MAINTAIN AND KEEP LANDSCAPING UP. SO IT'S NO SMALL FEAT. I SAID, WE DO RELY HEAVILY ON OUR LEADERSHIP CAPTAINS OVER A PLANT OPS TEAM IS FELIX NIN AND SUBBAN. TIM WHO JUST REPLACED MELVIN BECKHAM, WHO RETIRED AFTER A NUMBER OF YEARS OF SERVICE AND CFB. BOTH GUYS HAVE BEEN GROWN IN HOUSE. WE'RE SO EXCITED FOR THEIR LEADERSHIP AND SUPPORT. THEY LIED ABOUT 207 CUSTODIAN PLOY EASE AT ALL OF THOSE CAMPUSES AND FACILITIES, SO IT'S QUITE A TASK THAT THEY HAVE TO DO. WATCH OVER AND FORESEE. UM BUT I'M NOT HERE. ONLY TO BRAGGING ARE FOLKS TONIGHT WE HAVE FAMILIAR FACES.WHO'S GOT SOME COUPLE OF STORIES TO TELL AND SOME SHOTS TO GIVE OUT. HI MY NAME IS TRICIA VIDEO, AND I'M THE PRINCIPAL OF BLANCHE ELEMENTARY. AND I REALLY WANTED TO TALK ABOUT, UM, ONE WAY THAT ONE OF OUR EMPLOYEES WENT OVER AND ABOVE RECENTLY. JUST SO YOU KNOW THAT IT BLANTON. WE REALLY FOCUS ON TEAMWORK. ALL MEANS. ALL IS NOT JUST SOMETHING WE SAY IT'S SOMETHING WE REALLY WORKED TO PUT INTO PRACTICE. EVERY DAY . WE SEE THIS IN A VARIETY OF WAYS FROM OUR TEACHERS AND SUCH.
BUT WE ALSO REALLY RECENTLY SAW FROM OUR HEAD CUSTODIAN MARIA SANCHEZ DURING LUNCH. MISS MARIA DOES AN AMAZING JOB, OBVIOUSLY KEEPING OUR BUILDING SPARKLING CLEAN. AND SHE HELPS WITH CLEANING UP, BUT SHE ALSO HELPS. UM SHE HELPS TEACH OUR KIDS HOW THEY CAN BE HOW THEY CAN HELP.
SHE HELPS THE LITTLE ONES OPEN UP CONTAINERS. SHE INTERACTS WITH THE KIDS. SHE'S ALWAYS REALLY INVOLVED IN MAKING SURE THAT SHE'S BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS AND TALKING WITH THE STUDENTS. ONE DAY AT LUNCH, SHE WAS AGAIN AT THE TABLES, HELPING WITH LUNCH, AND SHE NOTICED THAT A STUDENT WAS CHOKING. WITHOUT EVEN HESITATING INSTEAD OF SAYING, OH, I NEED TO GO GET SOME HELP. OR OH, I WONDER WHAT I SHOULD DO. SHE JUST JUMPED INTO ACTION AND HELPED YOU THE HEIMLICH MANEUVER AND DISLODGED THE FOOD THAT WAS STUCK IN THIS LEARNERS. THROAT DID NOT EVEN EXPECT ANY KIND OF THANK YOU OR ANYTHING. JUST HELP TAKE CARE OF IT. THEN WE WENT AND GOT HIM CHECKED OUT. HE WAS FINE. BUT IF SHE HADN'T BEEN PAYING SUCH CLOSE ATTENTION, IT COULD HAVE BEEN SOMETHING THAT WAS A LITTLE MORE SCARY FOR THE CHILD AND POTENTIALLY MORE OF A HEALTH HAZARD, BUT BECAUSE SHE TOOK MATTERS INTO HER OWN HANDS IN THE WAY THAT SHE JUST DID WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE. SHE SHE DOES. SHE DID WHAT SHE DOES SO FREQUENTLY AND SHE HELPED TAKE CARE OF THE SITUATION BECAUSE ALL MEANS ALL AND MARIA DOES WHAT IS NECESSARY TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM TO MAKE SOMETHING BETTER. MARIA DOES AN AMAZING JOB OF TAKING CARE OF ALL OF US HERE AT SCHOOL, AND IT WAS REALLY IT WAS REALLY, UM IT WAS A REALLY BLESSING TO KNOW THAT SHE'S ALSO LOOKING OUT FOR THE FOR THE PHYSICAL WELL BEING OF OUR KIDS, NO MATTER WHAT, AND SHE SHE'S JUST SUCH A HUGE BLESSING FOR US HERE AT PLANET AND WE'RE REALLY GRATEFUL THAT SHE HELPED STEP IN AND TAKE CARE OF HER CHILDHOOD NEEDED WERE REALLY REALLY APPRECIATIVE OF THE WORK THAT MARIE DOES, ATLANTAN. THANK YOU. SO THAT'S JUST ONE OF THOUSANDS OF STORIES YOU'LL PROBABLY HEAR WHEN YOU VISIT WITH CAMPUS PRINCIPLES. UM A LOT OF OUR CUSTODIANS BECOME THEIR TEAM. YOU KNOW THEIR FAMILY AT THE CAMPUSES. THERE ARE FAMILY, BUT WE LEAVE THEM OUT BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T SUPPORT THE FACILITIES. A LOT OF OUR DAILY TASKS INCLUDE CLEANUP IN THE HALLWAYS, COMMON AREAS, CAFETERIAS AFTER BREAKFAST AND LUNCH, AS WELL AS OPENING THE BUILDINGS CLOSING BUILDING AT NIGHT. A LOT OF THE TIMES IT'S THE FACES. THE KIDS SEE FIRST IN THE MORNING AND SOMETIMES WHEN THEY LEAVE IN THE END OF THE DAY. UM A LOT OF OTHER ACTIVITIES IS PULLING TRASH OUT OF CLASSROOMS, CLEANING UP RESTROOMS AND MAKING THE BUILDING READY FOR THE NEXT DAY. WE DO COVER A LOT OF OTHER THINGS. WE TRY TO DO A QUARTERLY MONTHLY BASIS, WHETHER IT'S DEEP PLANTING WINDOW SERVICE. DEEP CLEANING CARPETS WERE NEEDED, UM AS WELL AS SUPPORTING OUR ATHLETIC FACILITIES. STADIUM CLEANUPS WORKING AT THE NATATORIUM. WE DO WORK ON ALL THE AFTER HOURS EVENTS. SORRY, GO FAST. LIKE WE DID THE CASES AROUND THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS. OUR TEAM GOES IN AND CLEANS UP AFTER THESE EVENTS, SO THEY'RE ALWAYS AROUND. THEY'RE ALWAYS INVOLVED , AND WE'RE GRATEFUL FOR THEIR SUPPORT. MOVING ON OVER TO OUR GENERAL MAINTENANCE. THIS HOUSE IS MORE OF OUR CARPENTRY, EXTERIOR INTERIOR PAINTING, CARPET LOCKSMITH. I WANT TO SAY OFFENSIVE GUYS. I MEAN, IT'S A NUMBER OF TRADES AND THAT KIND
[01:15:04]
OF OVERSEE A LOT OF THE BUILDING FACILITIES, THE STRUCTURE OF THE ROOF FROM INDOOR AND OUT. WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT MARTIN FLETCHER ? HMM THERE'S A LOT OF THINGS I CAN SAY MARTIN IS THE GO TO GUY IN THE DISTRICT WHEN YOU HAVE SOME CRAZY, CREATIVE IDEA THAT YOU NEED DONE. HE IS AMAZING HIM AND HIS CREW CAN DO SOME OF THE COOLEST THINGS MAKING FURNITURE , GAME BOARDS. I MEAN, THEY'RE JUST THEIR TALENT IS UNLIMITED, AND WE ARE SO BLESSED IN THIS DISTRICT TO HAVE THEM. WHAT CAN I MARTIN AS WELL? AMY LIKES TO TALK. MARTIN IS ONE OF OUR SPECIAL GUYS IN CARPENTRY.YOU'VE PROBABLY HEARD HIS NAME DROPPED A FEW TIMES. HE DID SOME FURNITURE IMPROVEMENTS OVER AT CENTRAL ELEMENTARY AND SOME COLLABORATIVE SPACES. BUT HE'S NOT THE ONLY GUY WE HAVE IN THAT DEPARTMENT WE HAVE ABOUT. WANT TO SAY 12 13 17 SORRY. 17 INDIVIDUALS WHO KIND OF RUN THAT, LIKE I SAID, THEY COVER THINGS FROM PAINTING TO FLOOR AND REPLACEMENT. WE DID SOME CARPET UPGRADES AT SOME SMALL AREAS. WE HELP TRANSPORTATION BUILD THERE. BUT I'M SORRY.
STORAGE AREA. WE FILL THAT INFORM ALSO, WE'VE BEEN KIND OF TAKING SOME SECURITY INITIATIVES TO HELP WITH DOOR LOCKS INSTALLED NEW HARDWARE ON CLASSROOM PODS THAT DIDN'T HAVE THEM BEFORE. UM LIKE I SAID, A LOT OF UPDATED PAINS WHERE WE CAN LIKE I SAID, WE HAVE THREE PAINTS THAT COVER 5.2 MILLION, SO IT TAKES TIME TO GET THROUGH . BUT THESE GUYS WORK HARD WORK DILIGENTLY ALL AROUND THE YEAR LONG SOME OF THE COOL PROJECTS YOU MIGHT SEE THIS IS THE EXCUSE ME OVER AT FREEMAN ELEMENTARY. WE PULLED OUT THE OLD CASEWORK AND MADE SOME LITTLE READING BOOKS TO KIDS USE. WE'VE DONE THAT A FEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AGAINST USED QUITE A BIT. THE KIDS LOVE IT. THE TEACHERS LOVE IT. SO IT'S BEEN A KIND OF A HIGHLIGHT OF STUFF THAT WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH IN HOUSE VERSUS TRYING TO CONTRACT THAT OUT. SOME OTHER EXAMPLES OF SITE CLEANUP. WE DO PAINT HELPED DIRECTIONS, HELP WITH SAFETY WITH CROSSING GUARDS OR CROSSWALKS, AS WELL AS THE SIDEWALK REPAIRS AND SOME POTHOLE REPLACEMENTS AS WE CAN.
UM NEXT TIME WE HAVE SUPPORTED SECURITY AND SOME INITIATIVES WITH THE DOOR SIGNAGE, UH, FACILITY SIGNAGE AS WELL AS OUR TRESPASSING SIGNS AT THE BALL FIELD WHEN WE'RE TRYING TO KEEP THOSE IN PRISTINE CONDITION. MOVING ON OVER TO OUR PLUMBING DEPARTMENT THAT'S LED BY ANOTHER CFB ALUMNI, BRANDON GREGOR. BY RESPECTING THEM AND THERE'S SO THEY PUT THIS. WHERE IN, I THINK IN THE LATE DECEMBER THAT STARTING VERY SOON, IF NOT NOW THAT IF YOU ENROLL IN PARTICULAR PROGRAM IN HIGH SCHOOLS THAT BY THE TIME YOU GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL, SO FROM 16 TO 18, YOU CAN BE A TRADESMAN PLUMBER. MAKING 20 SOMETHING DOLLARS AN HOUR. RIGHT NOW. I MEAN, IT'S GONNA CHANGE RIGHT BECAUSE THE ECONOMY AND THINGS LIKE THAT, BUT OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL, YOU WILL BE A LICENSED PLUMBER THAT CAN WORK ON ONE AND TWO FAMILY DWELLINGS OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL. SO THAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT GUYS, AND THAT'S JUST PLUMBING. LET ME WE HAVE OUR MECHANIC. SORRY.
YEAH, BY RESPECTING THEM. SO WE HAD OUR PLUMBING DEPARTMENT AS WELL AS ONE OF OUR CONTRACTORS, VENDORS GO OUT TO NEWMAN SMITH AND HELPING A TRADE PRESENTATION . TALK ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THE TRADE THE NEEDS FOR PLUMBERS. OBVIOUSLY WE KNOW THERE'S A WORKER SHORTAGE, SO WE'RE TRYING TO BUILD THOSE UP INTERNALLY. WE'RE TRYING TO EXPAND IN OUR OWN INTERNSHIP PROGRAM. SO HOPEFULLY ONE DAY YOU HAVE STUDENTS WHO INVOLVED IN THE CONSTRUCTION KIND OF WORK ALONGSIDE OUR GUYS HERE IN THE DISTRICT. AND KIND OF GET THAT ON THE JOB SUPPORT. A LOT OF OTHER THINGS WE COVER AND PLUMBING IS OUR SITE IRRIGATION. WE ALSO COVER ALL OF OUR LINES OF SEWER PIPE OF FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEMS, UH, HOT WATER HEATERS, BOILERS? UH IF IT HAS WATER COMING THROUGH WITH THESE GUYS MAINTAIN IT. THEY ALSO MAINTAIN ALL OF OUR GUEST SYSTEMS. YEAH, WE DO YEARLY TESTING. SO WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE THOSE ARE UP TO COUNT TO PRINT THOSE TO THE CITY AND TO THE STATE. SO THESE GUYS ARE QUITE BUSY. YOU PROBABLY SEE HIM AROUND QUITE A BIT IF YOU'RE AT THE CAMPUSES. NOT TO BE OUTDONE, H V A. C. HI I'M SANDY BURKHART, SECRETARIAT RL TURNER HIGH SCHOOL, AND I JUST WANT TO GIVE A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO TERRY VANDENBERG. HE IS AN AMAZING H VAC INDIVIDUAL. HE HAS SAVED US MANY, MANY TIMES AND ALL OF THE GUYS THAT WORK UNDER HIM OR AMAZING. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MUCH I APPRECIATE ALL THE WORK THEY DO FOR ME FOR RL TURNER ALL THE WORK ORDERS THAT ARE PUT IN LAST MINUTE WORK ORDERS. UH, EVERYTHING THAT I'VE EVER ASKED FOR. TERRY MANAGES TO GET IT FOR ME SOMEHOW, WHEN WE WERE IN UNDER CONSTRUCTION, WE HAD PROBLEMS WITH A C. WE HAD PROBLEMS WITH HEAT. TERRY WAS ALWAYS THERE TO HELP US WITH
[01:20:02]
THAT NEED AND THE FELLAS ARE JUST AMAZING THAT THAT WORK UNDER HIM. SO I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO EVERYONE IN HV AC FOR ALL YOU DO FOR ME, THE STAFF AND RL TURNER HIGH SCHOOL. SO TERRY IS QUITE POPULAR IN CFB. AS YOU IMAGINE WE GET A LOT OF HOT AND COLD CALLS WE HAVE ABOUT 3500 ROOFTOP UNITS, SO THAT'S A LOT TO MAINTAIN. WE HAVE ABOUT FIVE PEOPLE WHO MAKE UP THAT H V. A C DEPARTMENT. A LOT OF OUR FOCUSES ON PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE, COIL CLEANING, REPLACING FILTERS. WE OVERSEE ALL OF OUR EXHAUST FANS, SO THERE'S A LOT OF BELT REPLACEMENT TO COME ALONG WITH THAT. UM SO WE DO RELY A LITTLE BIT ON OUR TRADE PARTNERS. UH, GUYS LIKE JOHN COOKING ASSOCIATES, TD INDUSTRIES, TEXAS AIR SYSTEMS THEY DO COME IN AND DO A LOT OF THE BEING MAINTENANCE REPAIRS REPLACEMENTS AS NEEDED. EVEN THOUGH WE'VE DONE A LOT OF REPLACEMENTS IN THE BOND. WE STILL HAVE A LOT OF AGING UNITS, SO THAT TAKES A LOT OF GUYS TO KEEP UP THESE TO KEEP RUNNING TO KEEP COOLING. UM A LOT OF THESE UNITS ARE AVERAGING A LITTLE OVER 18 YEARS. WHICH IS PASSED THE LIFESPAN OF A TYPICAL ROOFTOP UNIT. SO THAT'S THE HIGHLIGHTS. WE ALSO DO HAVE A COOL STORY. I'M SORRY TO GET OFF TRACK ON THE PICTURE ON THE LEFT THERE. YOU SEE, THAT'S FELIPE. HE'S ONE OF OUR NEW HIRES. WE HAD SOME OLD A ON UNITS THAT WE WERE ABLE TO DONATE TO THE HBC PROGRAM AT NEWMAN SMITH HIGH SCHOOL, UH, SO THEY WENT AND PUT IT ON A MOBILE CARD THAT WAY THE CLASSIC AND PULLING IN AND OUT AND WORK ON IT AS NEEDED. UM AND AS WELL AS WE EXPAND INTERNSHIPS AND PLUMBING. WE'RE ALSO GOING TO EXPAND THAT TO H V. A C AND HELPED TO BUILD SOME OF OUR OWN IN HOUSE TEXT HERE IN THE FUTURE AS THEY MAKE IT THROUGH THE PROGRAM. OUR ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT. HELLO I'M JOHNSON GONZALEZ AND I GO TO OUR ALTERNATE HIGH SCHOOL AND I'M CURRENTLY WORKING AS AN INTERN UNDER MR GLENN HORNBECK, WHO IS THE HEAD ELECTRICIAN? THAT'S THE FBI IS DEEP, AND THIS INTERNSHIP HAS PROVEN TO BE A VERY BENEFICIALLY LEARNING EXPERIENCE AS WE USE WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED FROM ALL OF OUR YEARS OF SCHOOLING, AND WE APPLY TO THE RAILROAD PROBLEMS, AND IT'S TRULY INTERESTING TO SEE HOW THE DIFFERENT LEARNING ENVIRONMENT IS COMPARED TO THE TRADITIONAL CLASSROOM. AND AS IT BECOMES HANDS ON AND WITH TOOLS THAT WE USE WITH THE PEOPLE THAT WE WORK WITH. THE INSTRUMENT THAT GOES ON TO SEE AND FIGURE OUT HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. AND THIS OVERALL SATISFACTION OF THE ISSUES BEING FIXED THIS EXPERIENCE AT THE INTERNSHIP FULLY AND TRULY SIGNS LIKE ON THE EXPERIENCE THAT WE WILL HAVE GAINED TO THE REAL WORLD AND HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO APPLY WHAT WE'VE LEARNED. AND CONVEYED INTO WHAT WE AS INTERNS WILL DO AS OUR JOBS IN THE STEM INDUSTRY IN THE FUTURE. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GIVING US THE OPPORTUNITY AND THE EXPERIENCE TO LEARN AND IMPROVE. FOR FUTURE CAREER PATHS. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. SO THAT'S JUST ONE COOL STORY THAT WE'VE PARTNERED WITH THE METSA OVER AT OUR ALTERNATOR. WE'VE HAD A COUPLE OF INTERNS COME IN. THEY WORK EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS WORK FOR THE GUYS GO OUT AND LEARN THE FIELD LEARNING TRADE. UM THEY'VE HAD SOME COOL STORIES. WE HAD SUCCESS. I THINK ONE OF THE GIRLS WAS ASKED TO INTERN AT NASA THIS COMING SUMMER OR NEXT YEAR, SO IT'S IMPRESSIVE THAT WE GET TO WORK WITH THESE KIDS. UM, WE LEARNED FROM THEM THEY LEARNED FROM US. SO WE'RE REAL PROUD OF GLEN HARBACH. HE'S ALSO AN ALUMNI GRADUATED FROM NEWMAN SMITH HIGH SCHOOL. HIS TEAM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL OF OUR INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTING. UH SO WE'LL WORK ON SOME OF THESE DIMMER SWITCHES HERE IN THE IN THE FUTURE THAT GOT TO HELP. THE DAY IS UP THERE. UM GLENN AND HIS TEAM WORK CLOSELY WITH ALL OF OUR FIVE MR PALETTE EASE. WE DO HAVE TO WORK WITH OUR FIRE DEPARTMENTS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE IN COMPLIANCE WITH OUR FIRE CODE. SO WE HAVE YEARLY INSPECTIONS AND MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE UP TO PAR AND UP TO SNUFF ON THOSE REGARDS. UM WE'RE LOOKING TO EXPAND OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM WHEN CONSTRUCTION STARTS CONTINUE TO GROW AT NEWMAN SMITH . WE'RE GETTING READY TO EXPAND OUT FROM THE PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL AND H V A C. SO WE'RE HOPING TO GET THOSE AND START WORKING INTERNALLY AND HOW THOSE GUYS COME UP AND GALS WORKED WITH US. AS WE GET THROUGH OUR SYSTEMS. JUST KIND OF AN OVERVIEW OF SOME OF THE LIGHTS UPGRADES WE'VE DONE IN JIM'S REPAIRS ON THE OUTSIDE, REPLACING MAJOR LINES INSIDE BREAKERS. IF IT'S GOT VOTERS THROUGH. THESE GUYS ARE ON TOP OF IT, AND WE DO ALL OF OUR PRETTY MUCH ALL OF OUR MAJORITY OF WORK IN HOUSE. AND LAST, BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, IS OUR GROUNDS DEPARTMENT. HI MY NAME IS SHANNON MILLER, THE AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE TEACHER AT OUR ALTERNATE HIGH SCHOOL. I ALSO HAVE THE PRIVILEGE TO UTILIZE FACILITIES. I DON'T SEE ANY LIKE ROAD WHERE WE KEEP OUR LIVESTOCK ANIMALS FOR THE PROGRAM. OUR GROUNDS DEPARTMENT.BY FAR IS THE BEST AROUND THERE ABSOLUTELY DEDICATED TO THEIR JOB AND DOING GIVING THEIR BEST EFFORT. TO ANY TASK THAT'S PRESENTED TO THEM. THEY WORK THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER. I SEE THEM OUT THERE ALL THE TIME GOING PASTURES MOWING AROUND OUR BARN. IT'S BECAUSE OF THEM. THEY WERE ABLE TO KEEP THE ENVIRONMENT HEALTHY FOR OUR LIVESTOCK ANIMALS AND BE COMPETITIVE IN THE SHOW ARENA. THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO. SO LIKE I SAID, I'D LIKE TO BRAG
[01:25:03]
ON OUR GROUNDS. GUYS, THEY WORK OUT IN THE HEAT. THEY WORK ON THE EXTREME COLDS. THESE GUYS ARE GO ABOVE AND BEYOND H AND EVERY DAY. UM, WHEN YOU COVER 820 ACRES WHEN YOU HAVE ABOUT 20 STAFF, THAT'S A LOT OF GROUND TO COVER. THAT'S A LOT OF LANDSCAPING. THESE GUYS HAVE TO DO DAY IN DAY OUT, SO WE'RE PROUD OF THEM AND EVERYTHING THAT THEY ACCOMPLISH. THEY ALSO WORK CLOSELY WITH OUR ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT. MAKE SURE IN OUR FIELDS ARE KEPT UP TO SNUFF DO A LOT OF FERTILIZATION. FEEL PAINTING REPAIRS ON FENCING. WE'VE HAD SOME STORMS BLOW THROUGH THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. SO THOSE GUYS HAVE BEEN OUT THERE FIXING FENCING SO WE CAN KEEP BASEBALL GAMES GOING. KEEP THOSE KIDS ON THE FIELD ROCK. RODERICK SMITH IS OUR CAPTAIN FOR THE GROUNDS DEPARTMENT. HE'S ACTUALLY AN INTERNAL GUY GREW UP THROUGH, UH, HAS BEEN HERE ABOUT 15 YEARS NOW, SO WE'RE GLAD TO SEE HIM KIND OF LEAVE THIS DEPARTMENT.CONTINUE TO LEAD THESE GUYS AS WE GET THROUGH ALL OF OUR PRUNING LANDSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS.
NOT TO BE OUTDONE, R I P M DEPARTMENT ALSO FALLS INTO THIS. SO IF YOU SEE LITTLE GUY WE GOT THERE. WE CATCH A LOT OF RODENTS AROUND THE DISTRICT. WE TRY TO PREVENT THAT. BUT OBVIOUSLY YOU KNOW, THE DISTRICT THIS SIZE ALWAYS HAS THAT ISSUE, BUT WE'VE GOT A GOOD STAFF. THOSE GUYS JUMP ON TOP OF IT AND TRY TO KEEP OUR BUILDINGS RODENT FREE, AS I WOULD LIKE TO SAY. ONE BIG HIGHLIGHT. WE JUST DID OUT THE EXCITE. WE BUILT A PAVILION OUTDOOR CLASSROOM. WE'RE STILL KIND OF FINISHING THE FINAL TOUCHES ON IT. BUT WE'VE KIND OF PARTNERED WITH THE SCIENCE DEPARTMENT SO THEY'D HAVE SOME OUTDOOR LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES SO THEY CAN HAVE MORE EVENTS OUT THERE FIELD TRIPS, AND WE'RE ALSO TRYING TO WORK WITH THE AG PROGRAM TO HELP BUILD THAT FACILITY. BACK UP WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE, UM, SO WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THE FUTURE IN THAT REGARD.
UM LIKE I SAID, I'M REALLY GRATEFUL FOR OUR TEAM AND ALL THE HARD WORK. WE DO THE GUYS AND GALS GO ABOVE AND BEYOND WORK ALL KINDS OF HOURS. WHETHER IT'S DURING COVID WHEN WE COME IN TO DISINFECT ROOMS OR SNOWMAGEDDON WHEN WE HAD TO GO WALK BUILDINGS TO MAKE SURE BUILDINGS WEREN'T FREEZING UP WHEN POWER WENT DOWN. UH SO THESE GUYS AND GALS WORK HARD.
WE'RE THANKFUL FOR ALL OF OUR PARTNERSHIPS ACROSS THE BOARD, UH, WITH TECHNOLOGY FINANCE. I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE ANYBODY ELSE. HR YOU GUYS OVER THERE, TOO. BUT YOU KNOW, THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN IN A VACUUM, SO WE'RE GRATEFUL FOR ALL THAT INTERDEPARTMENTAL SUPPORT. BUT I REALLY WANT TO THANK MR MARONI. HE IS OUR SERVANT LEADER. HE MAKES SURE THAT WE HAVE THE TOOLS AND THE RESOURCES. WE NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL. HE REALLY PREACHES AUTONOMY AND PURPOSE.
AND SO THAT'S WHY THESE GUYS GO ABOVE AND BEYOND ALL THE TIME, AND THIS IS OUR THIRD HOME AND WE'RE PROUD OF OUR FAMILY, AND WE'RE THANKFUL TO SHARE WITH YOU GUYS. THANK YOU, MR SHAW. FOUR MEMBERS. DO YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, MISS BENAVIDEZ? THAT IS SO AMAZING. THANK YOU. FOR ALL THE INFORMATION. I OFTEN WONDER HOW EVERYTHING CONNECTS, BUT YOU'LL DO AN AMAZING JOB. THANK YOU SO MUCH. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS. COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD. MS GARZA ROJAS. THANK YOU GUYS. SO MUCH FOR THE PRESENTATION. MY DAD WAS ACTUALLY FOR A LONG TIME WORKED GROUNDS AT ANOTHER DISTRICT. HE RETIRED LAST YEAR, BUT HE WAS VERY PROUD OF HIS WORK. HE WAS ALWAYS EXCITED TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS TAKEN CARE OF. SO THE KIDS COULD GET AN EDUCATION BECAUSE HE COULDN'T GET ONE. SO THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH. UM MY QUESTION FOR YOU GUYS IS WHAT MAKES CFE FACILITIES. UH, UNIQUE SERVICES UNIQUE. IT'S A GOOD QUESTION. I CAN GO BACK TO THE PRESENTATION, BUT NO, I'M JOKING. THAT'S KIND OF A TYPICAL WEEK FOR US. YOU KNOW, I WOULD SAY IT'S THE TEAMWORK. THE GUYS WORK TOGETHER. A LOT OF TIMES. YOU SEE PLANT OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE. DON'T ALWAYS GET ALONG. BUT WE WORK TEAMS. YOU KNOW WHETHER IT'S MOVING BUILDINGS TRYING TO GET KIDS INTO BUILDINGS AFTER CONSTRUCTION. YOU KNOW, WE MOVED PERRY A NUMBER OF TIMES THAT'S NOT JUST ONE DEPARTMENT. THAT'S ALL DEPARTMENTS. SO UM, AND THEN WE HAVE A SIGNAL. SOME GREAT TALENT. YOU LOOK AT MARTIN FLETCHER, WE'VE GOT PEDRO VASQUEZ. HE ACTUALLY HAS A ENGINEERING DEGREE FROM COLUMBIA WHERE HE'S FROM, UM, SO WE USED ALL THESE GUYS USE THEIR TALENTS, AND I THINK THAT'S WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL AND WE'RE JUST PROUD TO SERVE CFB AND OUR FACILITIES. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MISS HATFIELD. THAT WAS A LOT OF INFORMATION, VERY HELPFUL TO SEE THE LAYOUT AND SEE THAT YOU KNOW, IT'S NOT JUST THE SCHOOLS. IT'S EVERYTHING AROUND THE SCHOOLS AND MAKING ALL THAT WORK. SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH. UM I WAS WONDERING, I SAW IT ON THE CORNER OF THE SLIDE. HOW AS THE DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT GOAL GOING WITH THE WORK ORDER SYSTEM QUITE SUCCESSFULLY. WE ROLLED THE NEW WORKERS SYSTEM OUT. THANKS TO TECHNOLOGY, SCOTT AND HIS TEAM OVER THERE IN FRONT AROUND AUGUST. WE'VE GOT ALL OUR GUYS TRAINED. WE'VE BEEN USING IPADS . SO GUYS IN THE FIELD WHO NEVER TOUCHING YOU, PETER OUT THERE RESPONDING TO WORK ORDERS, ADDING PHOTOS COMMUNICATING THAT TO THE CAMPUS IS, UM, WE PROBABLY DONE ABOUT 3500 WORK ORDERS AND THAT TIME PERIOD SINCE WE ROLLED IT OUT IN AUGUST. UM BUT, YEAH, IT'S BEEN GREAT SUCCESS FOR US, AND WE'RE THANKFUL FOR IT. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, COMMENTS. I JUST WANT TO ADD ON THAT ONE. UM, THESE GUYS DID AN INCREDIBLE JOB NOT ONLY AFTER COMING OUT OF COVID AND ALL THOSE CHALLENGES THE WORK ORDER SYSTEM THAT WE HAD DIDN'T HAVE SCHEDULES. THEY WERE ALL TRACKED BY EACH GROUP OUTSIDE OF IT. SO NO OTHER
[01:30:02]
DEPARTMENT YOU WHICH EACH CAPTAIN WAS DOING. I MEAN, THE GUYS TRIED THEIR BEST TO SHARE THAT INFORMATION, BUT WE COULDN'T SHARE IT WITH THE CAMPUSES. WE COULDN'T SHARE IT INTO DEPARTMENT. LEE SO LAUNCHING THIS WORK WATER SYSTEM THAT'S DIGITAL. IT WORKS ON THE APP. YOU CAN LOAD PICTURES. YOU CAN RESPOND TO PEOPLE YOU CAN TAG PEOPLE. THE PRINCIPLES HAVE BEEN PHENOMENAL ABOUT IT. NOW WE CAN ACTUALLY COMMUNICATE STRAIGHT BACK TO THE PERSON WHO PUT THE WORK BORDER IN. THEY GET AN EMAIL WHEN THEY WERE QUARTER GETS MODIFIED, AND THIS IS HUGE, AND THAT'S PROBABLY THE NUMBER ONE OUT OF ALL THE DISTRICTS THAT HAVE WORKED IN GETTING THE GUYS TO GO BACK IN AND PUT IN THE WORK THAT THEY DO. THESE ARE DOERS. THEY LIKE TO GO. THEY BLOW AND GO. THESE GUYS ARE ACTUALLY DOING IT. THEY'RE TAKING THE PHOTOS THERE SHARING THAT INFORMATION. SO WHEN WE GET CHALLENGED, I NEED TO REPORT BACK ON SOMETHING. I LOG INTO THAT WORK ORDER SYSTEM AND IT'S ALL THERE. UM SO OUR NEXT STEP IS OBVIOUSLY TO BASELINE AND START TO MEASURE OURSELVES ON HOW TO TRACK AND IMPROVE, BUT THE BASELINE FROM THIS YEAR IS LOOKING REALLY GOOD. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. ISN'T ARE THERE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS? THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATION. VERY INTERESTING AND THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING THAT THAT THE TEAM IS DOING TO KEEP THE BUILDING'S GOING AND THE GROUNDS MAINTAINED AND ALWAYS SAY ABOUT PTA. WE COULDN'T HAVE SCHOOL WITHOUT WE REALLY COULDN'T HAVE SCHOOL. SERIOUSLY COULDN'T HAVE SCHOOL WITHOUT WHAT YOUR TEAM DOES. SO THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATION. ALRIGHT WE'RE GOING TO MOVE TO ITEM FOUR D, WHICH IS OUR TRANSPORTATION UPDATE, SPEAKING OF ANOTHER GROUP. WE COULDN'T HAVE SCHOOL WITHOUT MR HILL, DR ELDRIDGE AND DR BLACK MEMBERS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE WHAT TRANSPORTATION DOES OVERVIEW. SO THIS IS OUR STAFF DOWNTOWN CARROLLTON. THAT WAS A GREAT DAY HAD A LOT OF FUN TAKING PICTURES. OUR MISSION STATEMENT. TO PROVIDE SAFE, RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION SERVICE FOR THE CHILDREN OF CFB. I STI THROUGH DEDICATION AND COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE. I'M NOT GOING TO SAY WE'RE ALWAYS EXCELLENT, BUT WE'RE STRIVING FOR THAT. THIS WAS A AH! CAREER DAY WE PARTICIPATED IN ONE OF THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. WHAT IS TRANSPORTATION DO. WE ARE THE FIRST AND LAST REPRESENTATION IN THE DAY OF MOST STUDENTS. THEY SEE US FIRST, AND THEY SEE US LAST WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR TRANSPORTING STUDENTS TO AND FROM SCHOOL IN A SAFE AND TIMELY MATTER. WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MAINTENANCE UPKEEP ON OVER 100 AND 40 PLUS YELLOW FLEET. 125 PLUS WHITE FLEET WE MANAGE OVER 250 EMPLOYEES WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OVERSIGHT OF ABOUT $3.6 MILLION BUDGET, AND WE'RE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIELD TRIPS FOR ALL 40 PLUS SCHOOLS. THAT WE HAVE. THESE ARE SOME PICTURES OF BREAST CANCER OR DRIVERS OF THE MIDDLE PICTURE IS CRAZY SOCK DAY. WHO IS TRANSPORTATION? WE ARE A DIVERSE GROUP OF 115 PLUS DRIVERS, A DIVERSE GROUP OF OVER 60 MONITORS WE HAVE OVER 50 SPECIAL EDUCATION ROUTES OVER 50 MONITORS OVER 50 REGULAR EDUCATION ROUTES. WE HAVE SIX STANDBYS 15 STAFF. OVER 10 IN THE FLEET MANAGEMENT, WHICH I MUST SAY ONE OF OUR NEW HIRES THIS YEAR WAS AN INTERN FROM TURNER. AND SO HE GRADUATED AND CAME ON THE TEAM WERE ALSO ROUTING RECRUITING TECHNOLOGY DISPATCH FIELD TRIPS, CUSTOMER SERVICE SAFETY AND TRAINING MECHANICS, PARTS CLERKS, PAYROLL , BUDGET AND MANAGEMENT. HERE'S A LOVE THE BUS MONTHS AND MORE DRIVERS IN THE UPPER LEFT HAND CORNER IS SEVENTIES DAY. HOW DO WE DO TRANSPORTATION? WELL TRANSPORTATION WE'VE ALREADY DRIVEN OVER 1.5 MILLION MILES, AND WE'LL FINISH WITH OVER TWO MILLION MILES ON OUR BUSSES. WE'VE ALREADY USED 214,285 GALLONS OF FEW. WE'VE DRIVEN OVER 51,000 ROUTES AND COUNTING ALL THE ROUTES AND STUDENTS.WE'VE TAKEN APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MILLION STUDENTS TO AND FROM SCHOOL SINCE IT STARTED. ANOTHER LOVE THE BUS. FIELD TRIPS. THIS IS A MAJOR COMPONENT TO TRANSPORTATION. WE HAVE OVER 90,000 HOURS DRIVEN THIS YEAR ON FIELD TRIPS ALONE. THEY'VE GONE OVER 75,000 MILES. USE 10,000 GALLONS OF FEW OVER 3000 TRIPS, AND WE IMPLEMENTED A BRAND NEW SOFTWARE SYSTEM, WHICH HAS MADE IT MUCH EASIER FOR THE SECRETARIES AND COACHES TO INPUT THEIR TRIPS. AND THE YOUNG LADY IN THE MIDDLE IS MRS REGINA MOODY, WHO IS OUR FIELD TRIP COORDINATOR. SAFETY AND TRAINING ANOTHER FOCUS THIS YEAR WE HAVE OVER 1600 HOURS IN TRAINING NEW DRIVERS WE'VE HIRED AND TRAINED OVER 75 NEW COMMERCIAL DRIVER TRAINEES, AND NOW THEIR DRIVERS. AND WE'VE RETRAINED OVER 25
[01:35:08]
DRIVERS. THIS IS BEEN A HUGE THING FOR US THIS YEAR, UH, YOU'LL SEE IN A LITTLE BIT ON THE RECRUITING SLIDE WHAT WE'VE GROWN, BUT WE COULD NOT HAVE GROWN WITHOUT SAFETY AND TRAINING. I'VE DONE A GREAT JOB RECRUITING WE'VE CONDUCTED OVER 325 INTERVIEWS SINCE JUNE, THE FIRST WE'VE HIRED OVER 60 DRIVERS. WE ACTUALLY HIRED MORE THAN THAT, BUT WE STILL HAVE SIX TO HERE. WE'VE HIRED OVER 15 MONITORS, AND WE HAVE OVER 1000 HOURS. THIS YOUNG LADY HERE, SHE ANDREA MILLER. SHE'S ONE OF OUR RECRUITING HELPERS AND HAS JUST WORKED TIRELESSLY TO HELP US ALLEVIATE THE NO DRIVER. PROBLEM THAT WE'VE SUFFERED. FLEET MANAGEMENT WE'VE USED OVER 1000 QUARTS OF OIL 215,000 GAP 14,000 GALLONS OF DIESEL. 100,000 GALLONS OF GASOLINE WE'VE DONE OVER 300. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE . WE'VE OVERHAULED THE FACILITY IF YOU HADN'T HAD A CHANCE TO GET OUT THERE AND LOOK IT OVER. IT'S A WHOLE NEW PLACE. WE BOUGHT NEW LISTS MEZZANINE STAND TOOLS, FANS, UH, BOBBY MENTIONED IT. THEY HELPED US OUT WITH OUR NEW MEZZANINE PARTS ROOM AND ALL THAT, BUT IT'S BEEN A GOOD A GOOD YEAR, AND WE REALLY BROUGHT OUR FLEET MANAGEMENT UP TO PAR.DISPATCH AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. THIS IS THE BRAINS OF TRANSPORTATION. I TELL EVERYBODY . THEY ARE THE BOSS BETWEEN SIX O'CLOCK AND EIGHT OCLOCK AND TWO O'CLOCK AND FIVE O'CLOCK.
THEY'RE THE ONES THAT KEEPS IT ALL GOING, SO THERE'S THREE OF THEM. WE'VE ANSWERED 21,000 PHONE CALLS THIS YEAR. WE'VE HAD OVER 5000 EMAILS ANSWERED, AND ON OUR RADIO SYSTEM, WHICH IS BRAND NEW WE'VE HAD OVER 42,000 TRANSMISSIONS, AND WE'VE MANAGED ABOUT 51,000 ROUTES. OUR HEART IS SHOWING PROBABLY MY FAVORITE SLIDE. THIS YEAR THROUGH VOLUNTEERISM AND PEOPLE BEING WILLING TO GIVE WE'VE GIVEN OVER £75,000 OF FOOD TO OUR DRIVERS AND MONITORS AND WORKERS AT CFB , I S D. WE DO THAT ABOUT EVERY OTHER WEEK WE BRING IN A TRUCKLOAD WAREHOUSE HAS BEEN WONDERFUL. ALLOWANCE USED THE TRUCK AND HELP US UNLOAD IT. BUT WE GIVE THAT AWAY ABOUT TWICE A WEEK. WE GIVE AWAY PANERA BREAD THAT GIVES IT TO US FOR FREE. WE'VE GOT OVER 4000. PASTRIES WE PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT TO SEVERAL UNDERPRIVILEGED FAMILIES. NETWORK AND TRANSPORTATION AND OUR STAFF COLLECTED MONEY AT THE HOLIDAYS. UH AND WE GAVE AWAY 41 TURKEYS AND 30 HAMS TO THE DRIVERS AND MONITORS TO HELP THEM OUT DURING THE HOLIDAY. I GOT TO STOP FOR A MINUTE. I'M A PEOPLE PERSON. AND THE THIRD TIME THAT WE GAVE THE FOOD AWAY WAS RIGHT BEFORE THANKSGIVING.
AND, UH YEAH, ELDERLY LIKE, COME UP AND WITH TEARS IN THEIR EYES. THANK ME. FOR GIVING AWAY THE FOOD, SHE SAID. WELL, I WENT TO WORK TODAY. I TOLD MY DAUGHTER SHE LIVES WITH HER DAUGHTER, SHE SAID. I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE GOING TO HAVE FOR FOOD. FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS. THEY HAD ONE BOX OF CEREAL. AND SHE WENT HOME THAT NIGHT WITH BOXES OF STUFF. AND THAT'S REALLY WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT. THIS IS A THIS IS BLUEBERRY FRUIT LOOPS OR CAPTAIN D PANCAKE MIX AND SYRUP.
TECHNOLOGY IN A BIG YEAR. WE'VE DONE A LOT OF TECHNOLOGY. WE HAVE A NEW RADIO SYSTEM. WE HAVE A NEW ZONE. OUR SYSTEM ZONE ARE IS HOW WE DO PRE AND POST TRIPS. COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE. WE ARE REQUIRED TO INSPECT EVERY VEHICLE THAT WE DRIVE IN THE MORNING. IN THE AFTERNOON. AND WE DO THAT THROUGH A TABLET THAT'S CALLED ZONE ARTS ALL ELECTRONICALLY. IT CONNECTS TO OUR WORK ORDER SYSTEM. WHICH IS CALLED ARTE IN THE SHOP. AND SO THERE'S WASHER WASHER WIPER BLADE OUT OR WHATEVER AUTOMATICALLY GENERATES A WORK ORDER ENTAILS THE SHOP, SO IT'S BEEN MUCH MORE DEAL AND IT'S ALSO WE'RE IN THE PROCESS OF THE NEW STUDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WILL BE A PART OF THE ZONE ARTS HOW WE DO THE BADGES. YOU ALL REMEMBER TALKING ABOUT THAT? WE'RE KNEE DEEP AND IMPLEMENTING THAT AND SO IT WAS PUT ON HOLD A LITTLE BIT. WE WERE WAITING ON SOME PARTS TO COME IN, BUT THEY'RE IN. WE HAVE A NEW CAMERA SYSTEM THAT WE'RE WORKING WITH.
WE'RE RIGHT IN THE PROCESS OF PUTTING THAT ON THE REST OF THE BUSSES. NEW OVERVIEW DISPATCH SYSTEM WOULD ALLOWS US TO LOOK AT ALL OF OUR SOFTWARE'S. IT PUTS IT ALL ON ONE DASHBOARD. WE KNOW IF A BUS IS LATE AND HIGHLIGHT THEY ARE AND WHAT TIME THEY LEFT WHEN THEY PUNCHED IN, AND IT'S VERY GOOD AND TECHNOLOGY HAS WORKED SO HARD WITH US. WE HAVE PUT WIFI ON BUSSES WERE IN THE PROCESS OF PUTTING WIFI ON BUSSES. AND SO NEXT YEAR, IF NOT EVERY BUS, ALMOST EVERY BUS WILL HAVE WIFI FOR STUDENTS TO USE ON THE WAY HOME TO HELP OUT WITH THEIR WORK IN CONCLUSION. WE'VE SENT OUT OVER 12,000 EMAILS. THIS IS A CULTURE SLIDE. WE'VE SENT OUT
[01:40:05]
OVER 12,000 EMAILS TO DRIVERS AND MONITORS. 5000 TEXT MESSAGES . WE'VE REMODELED OUR OFFICE AREA. WE'VE UPGRADED THE LOUNGE. WE GOT A NEW ICE MACHINE POPCORN MACHINE. WE GOT A WHOLE NEW VENDING SYSTEM. IF YOU HAVE BEEN THERE, YOU CAN SEE IT. REFRIGERATORS TVS, COMMUNICATION PAINT. AH! WE BOUGHT A LOT OF HOT DOGS. WE SERVE A LOT OF POPCORN. AH! IF YOU WANT TO GO TO A HAPPY PLACE. COME TO TRANSPORTATION. THEY ARE HAPPY TO BE THERE. THEY'RE HAPPY TO WORK. AND IT'S BEEN A JOY. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF WORKING TRANSPORTATION. THANK YOU. MR HILL BOARD MEMBERS. QUESTIONS, MR ERIC. JUST A COMMENT. MR HILL. IT'S BEEN ABOUT A YEAR SINCE YOU CAME TO SEE IT BE RIGHT ABOUT NINE MONTHS. THANK YOU. WELCOME WE ARE SO HAPPY TO HAVE YOU YOU HAVE CHANGED THE CULTURE FOR SURE. AND YOUR LOVE FOR PEOPLE SHOWS THANK YOU VERY MUCH. MISS CARSON ROJAS. I THINK I WANT TO GO WORK FOR YOU. I THINK YOU NEED TO COME WORK FOR US. YOU LOOK LIKE YOU HAVE A REALLY GOOD TIME. I MEAN, ALL OF THESE PICTURES, RIGHT? I DO HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU. UM HOW HAS A FULL YEAR RECRUITING CYCLE ASSISTED AT TRANSPORTATION? GREAT QUESTION. FOUR YEAR RECRUITING CYCLE IS SOMETHING THAT'S TOTALLY NEW TO TRANSPORTATION IN THE EDUCATION SIDE. AH WE USED TO. WE DIDN'T HAVE TO COMPETE THAT MUCH. PEOPLE WERE WANTED TO BE A DRIVER, AND SO THEY WOULD JUST COME AND A LOT OF TIMES IT WAS THEY WOULD COME READY. BUT NOW WE HAVE TO COMPETE WITH EVERYTHING BECAUSE OF THE ECONOMY AND WAGES GOING UP. WE'RE COMPETING WITH ANY ANY SERVICE INDUSTRY THERE IS AND SO WE CANNOT JUST DEPEND ON PEOPLE WALKING IN THE DOOR. UH TO FULFILL OUR NEED. I WAS HIRED JUNE 1ST LAST YEAR. AND WHEN I GOT HERE WE WERE ABOUT 80 PEOPLE SHORT IN TRANSPORTATION. SO THERE WAS NO WAY THAT WE COULD JUST SIT BACK AND WAIT ON PEOPLE TO APPLY. HR JERRY MARTINEZ IS NOT HEAR HIM AND DR DAVIS HAD BEEN A TREMENDOUS SUPPORT. WE WORKED VERY HARD WITH. INDEED THE YOUNG LADY, UH, THAT YOU SAW BACK THROUGH HERE. SHE, ANDREA.SHE IS A STANDBY DRIVER SHE HELPS OUT WITH RECRUITING. SHE HAS WORKED TIRELESSLY. AND WE INTERVIEW ALMOST DAILY. WE'VE DEFINITELY DONE IT ALL WEEK LONG ALL YEAR LONG EVERY WEEK AND SO THAT FULL TERM THAT FULL YEAR RECRUITING CYCLE. HAS ALLOWED US. I HAVEN'T DRIVEN A BUS. UH PROBABLY IN ABOUT SIX MONTHS. OUR MANAGEMENT HASN'T DRIVEN A BUS AND PROBABLY FOUR OR FIVE MONTHS, AND IF WE DO, IT'S A FIELD TRIP DAY LIKE TODAY WE HAD 50 SOME FIELD TRIPS. IT'S ONE OF THOSE DAYS. BUT THE FULL YEAR RECRUITING CYCLE HAS ALLOWED US TO BUILD THAT UP, AND WE'RE GEARING UP FOR NEXT YEAR. RIGHT NOW WE'RE ABOUT 20 SHORT. I DON'T PLAN ON BEING SHORT AT ALL. FROM NOW ON. WE'RE JUST GOING TO KEEP WORKING AND GROWING AND BUILDING AND MAKING IT A YEAR ROUND THING. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HONESTY AND THANK HER BECAUSE THIS IS THIS IS AMAZING . SHE WOULD BE HERE BUT SHE HAS TO GET UP AT 4 30 IN THE MORNING. OKAY MUCH AS I'M A TALKER. I COULD NOT TALK HER INTO COMING. OKAY. THANK YOU. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD. BENAVIDEZ THANK YOU, MR HILL. AND WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT TO SEVERAL UNDERPRIVILEGED FAMILIES, HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT THAT AND YOUR SELECTION PROCESS OR DO THEY COME TO YOU? OUR SELECTION PROCESS WE PRIMARILY USE INDEED. WE CONSTANTLY. HR HAS BEEN VERY GOOD TO US WITH THE BUDGET, AND WE HAVEN'T INDEED HAD GOING ALL THE TIME THAT WE DO NOT RIGHT NOW BECAUSE WE'RE COMING TO THE END, AND I DON'T THINK IT'S FAIR TO A DRIVER. IT TAKES ABOUT SIX WEEKS BY THE TIME THEY COME IN AND INTERVIEW TILL THEY GET HIRED AND CAN DRIVE AND RIGHT NOW, THAT WOULD BE THE END OF SCHOOL, AND SO IT'S VERY DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO KEEP THEM FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. BUT THEY COME THROUGH US AND INDEED AND WE REALLY DON'T FIND OUT.
THEY'RE UNDERPRIVILEGED UNTIL AFTER THEY'VE BEEN THERE. AND THEN WE FIND OUT THAT SOME OF THEM ARE LIVING IN THEIR CARS OR DON'T HAVE FOOD OR VARIOUS THINGS LIKE THAT. AND, UH I DON'T WANT TO SHARE A TON OF STORIES, BUT I CAN TELL YOU MULTIPLE STORIES OF PEOPLE IN THE OFFICE THAT BUY GROCERIES AND GAS AND PICK PEOPLE UP AND HELP FOLKS OUT AND UH, IT'S VERY I WOULD SAY THIS IS VERY HUMBLING. I HAVE TO SHARE A STORY. AND A LADY. COME IN. IT'S BEEN ABOUT A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, AND SOMETIMES I STAND OUT WE HAVE YOU EVER BEEN? THERE IS A LITTLE PORK JUST REPORTS AND SAY HI TO PEOPLE. SHE CAME IN. SHE WAS HAD TEARS AROUND, SHE SAID. I NEED TO TALK TO YOU. OKAY? MOST TIME. THAT'S NOT GOOD. SO WE WENT BACK IN THE
[01:45:02]
OFFICE AND I SAT DOWN AND SHE MAINLY JUST STARTED TELLING ABOUT HER FAMILY AND SOME OF THE ISSUES SHE HAD IN HER MOM AND ALL THESE TYPES OF THINGS. AND I'M THINKING TO MYSELF. I'M NOT REALLY SURE WHAT I CAN DO TO HELP YOU, MA'AM. I MEAN, I CAN'T GET INVOLVED. I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON. SHE GOT ABOUT 10 MINUTES INTO IT, AND SHE SPENT THE NEXT 10 MINUTES. TELL ME HOW BLESSED SHE WAS. AND HOW GRATEFUL SHE WAS TO HAVE THE JOB AND HOW IT PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE AND HOW GOD HAD BLESSED HER. AND WHEN SHE LEFT, I FELT ABOUT THAT BIG I CALLED MY WIFE MEETING AND SAID, JUST FROM NOW ON, WE DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. BECAUSE THIS LADY, I THOUGHT AS BOBBY WAS TALKING SOME OF THE PEOPLE THAT DO THE HARDEST WORK FOR THE DISTRICT GET PAID THE LEAST. AND LOVE THIS DISTRICT AS MUCH AS ANY TEACHER OR ADMINISTRATOR OR PRINCIPAL OR ANYTHING ELSE. AND WORK HARD. AND THAT'S THAT'S HOW WE DO THAT. THAT'S WHY I GO TO PANERA. EVERY MONTH. YOU HEARD MY ALARM. I'M SORRY. IT WAS TELLING ME TO GO TO PANERA AND PICK UP BREAD. I GO TWICE A WEEK AND PICK UP BREAD AND BRING IT AND GIVE IT AWAY AND WE GO. ABOUT TWO OR THREE TIMES A MONTH AND GIVE AWAY FOOD. AND IT'S BECAUSE OF THAT, THAT THAT'S HOW WE SERVE THOSE PEOPLE. THAT'S WONDERFUL. UM YOU KNOW, IN THE PART OF YOUR REPORT, YOU TALKED ABOUT SPECIAL TRIPS WITH OUR HUGE GROWTH AND HOMELESSNESS IN OUR DISTRICT. ARE THERE RIDES AVAILABLE FOR THE CHILDREN THAT ARE IN TEMPORARY HOUSING? YES, MA'AM. THAT'S A PROGRAM CALLED MCKINNEY VENTO. AND CHARACTER FARMERS BRANCH HAS A VERY LARGE MCKINNEY VENTO PROGRAM. MOST DISTRICTS OF OUR SIZE, MAYBE WOULD HAVE 15. WE HAVE AS HAD AS HIGH AS 90. AND WHAT WE DO THERE WE PROVIDE HALF THE TRANSPORTATION. IF A CHILD IS HOMELESS AND MOVES OUT OF DISTRICT WE PROVIDE HALF THE TRANSPORTATION, SO WE ALLOW THEM TO STAY IN THEIR SCHOOL AND WE WILL DO THE MORNING OR AFTERNOON. WE HAVE DONE AS FAR AS RED OAK. BUT YES, THAT I'M SORRY. I DIDN'T HAVE THAT IN THERE. BUT YES, THAT IS A VERY INTEGRAL PART AND, UH, WE WORKED VERY HARD AT THAT. THANK YOU.THAT'S SO AWESOME AND YOUR PRESENTATION AND ALL THE GOOD THINGS THAT YOU'RE SHOWING US IS WONDERFUL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK. THANK YOU, MA'AM. IT'S A PRIVILEGE. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD. MR HILL. THANK YOU. THANK YOU KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT THE BUS DRIVERS AND, UM IT'S UM, PRETTY CLOSE TO MY HEART HAVING SAT ON A BUS BEFORE DRIVEN ONE AND, UM YEAH.
SO THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU'RE DOING, AND THANKS TO ALL YOUR DRIVERS AND THE WHOLE TEAM, UM AND WE APPRECIATE THE PRESENTATION. THANK YOU FOR THE HONOR TO SERVE, SIR. AND THE BOARD HAS BEEN PROVIDED AMPLE INFORMATION ABOUT THESE ITEMS IN ADVANCE PRIOR TO ANY ACTION TAKEN ON THE CONSIDERATION OF BOARD MEMBERS MAY REQUEST WITHDRAWAL OF INDIVIDUAL ITEMS FOR CLARIFICATION OR DISCUSSION. MORE MEMBERS. ARE THERE ANY ITEMS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE CONSENT AGENDA AT THIS TIME? MISS HATFIELD. ITEM FIVE T AS IN TOM. OKAY MISS HATFIELD HAS ASKED THAT AGENDA ITEM FIVE T AS IN TOM BE REMOVED. ARE THERE ANY OTHER ITEMS TO BE REMOVED? OKAY IF THERE ARE NO OTHER ITEMS TO BE REMOVED, DO I HAVE A MOTION? REGARDING THE CONSENT AGENDA AS AMENDED. MR ERIC. I MOVE THAT WE APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA WITH THE REMOVAL OF ITEM T AS IN TOM. OKAY. I HAVE EMOTION FROM MISS DEREK THAT WE UM, APPROVED THE CONSENT AGENDA WITH THE REMOVAL OF ITEM FIVE T. ITEM FIVE T CARRIES. OUR NEXT ITEM IS SIX P CONSIDERATION AND APPROVAL OF ORDER BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CARROLLTON FARMERS BRANCH INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF ITS UNLIMITED TAX REFUNDING BONDS SERIES 2023 LIVING AND CONTINUING DIRECT ANNUAL ADVIL ARE ADVIL, ADVIL, OR, UM, TAX. FOR THE PAYMENT OF BONDS, DELEGATING THE AUTHORITY TO CERTAIN MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES IN DISTRICT STAFF TO EXECUTE CERTAIN DOCUMENTS RELATING TO THE SALE OF THE BONDS AND AUTHORIZING OTHER MATTERS IN CONNECTION THERE WITH MR GARY. I'M GOING TO TURN IT OVER TO YOU. THANK YOU, DR BLACK BOARD, DR ELDREDGE. SO THE REASON WE'RE HERE TONIGHT IS THE 2013 A IN THE 2013 B SERIES OF BONDS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO BE REFINANCED. SO WHILE THE INTEREST RATES SAYS, YOU KNOW WERE HIGHER THAN THEY WERE A YEAR AGO, MOST OF THESE BONDS STILL HAVE INTEREST RATES THAT WE CAN STILL REFINANCE AND MAKE A GOOD SAVINGS ON SO THE ACTUAL SAVINGS WILL DEPEND ON THE RATES OVER THE NEXT 30 DAYS. BUT THE BIG PICTURE FOR THIS THIS AGENDA ITEM IS THAT IT WILL ALLOW DR ELDRIDGE AND MYSELF TO NEGOTIATE THE REFINANCING OF THESE BONDS. SO AT THE END OF THIS NEGOTIATION, FIND SOMETHING DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. THERE WILL BE NO COST OF THE DISTRICT. BUT THIS ALLOWS US TO NEGOTIATE AND TRY TO REFINANCE THESE BONDS AT THIS TIME. THANK YOU, UM. ANY MORE MEMBERS HAVE QUESTIONS FOR MR GARRETT BEFORE I ASKED PROMOTION. MR BOCEK.CLARIFICATION BECAUSE THERE COULD BE SOME CONFUSION WITH THE NAME. IT'S REFERENCES. 2023 THIS IS NOT RELATED TO ANYTHING WITH THE UPCOMING BOND ELECTION. THIS IS THAT IS, THAT IS CORRECT.
THESE ARE 2013 BONDS THAT HAVE BECOME ELIGIBLE FOR REFINANCING WITH THE SERIES 2023 IN THIS STATEMENT. I THINK THAT'S OR ON THE PAPER. IT GETS CONFUSING. OKAY? YEAH THAT'S MAYBE A TYPE OF 2023 2013 A AND B. SO NOT RELATED TO THAT RELATED TO THE BOND AT ALL NOT DOING ANYTHING BECAUSE THAT HAS NOT BEEN APPROVED BY THE VOTERS. YES THESE ARE THE 10 YEAR BONDS THAT THEY HAVE BECOME ELIGIBLE. NOT NOTHING TO DO WITH THE NEW BOND, NOTHING WITH THE UPCOMING ELECTION. OKAY. THANK YOU FOR THAT CLARIFICATION. ALRIGHT. DO I HAVE A SORRY GARCIA ROJAS? WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL SAVINGS FOR THE DISTRICT. THE WE KIND OF SET TARGETS, AND, UM, IT'S LOOKING. I KNOW THE INTEREST RATES HAVE COME UP, IN FACT, RECENTLY OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS, AND WE'RE HOPING SOMEWHERE BETWEEN MAYBE 950 MILLION TO ABOUT 1.4 MILLION WAS SAVING THAT THE BONDS WERE GOING TO TRY TO REFUND HER. A LITTLE OVER $19.4 MILLION. SO WHEN WE WHEN WE REFUND IT AND REFINANCES OR TO SPEAK, THEN WE'LL TRY TO LOWER THE TERM AND GET THE RIGHT BACK. SO LORDLY ANYWHERE FROM ABOUT 940 MILLION TO ABOUT 1.4 MILLION ANYTHING ELSE? OKAY DO I HAVE A MOTION REGARDING ITEM AGENDA? ITEM? SIX B. MISS HATFIELD. I MOVE THAT WE APPROVE ITEM SIX B AS PRESENTED. OKAY HAVE A MOTION FROM HIS HATFIELD. DO I HAVE A SECOND? MR ERIC, I HAVE A SECOND FROM HYSTERIC. IS THERE ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION? OKAY HEARING NONE.
