I RECEIVED QUITE A FEW LETTERS . YOU KNOW, I I'VE ENCOURAGED THE STUDENTS TO WRITE LETTERS. AND SO I RECEIVED, UM QUITE A FEW. AND SO ONE OF THE ONES A COUPLE OF MINUTES MENTION IS I RECEIVED, UM, A LETTER FROM A STUDENT AT A HIGH SCHOOL AND HE HAS WRITTEN OUT A PLAN OF HOW WE CAN ALL COPE WITH STRESS. AND SO I THOUGHT THAT WAS AMAZING AND SAY WE'RE GOING TO GET WITH HIM AND SEE IF WE CAN ALL BENEFIT FROM THE PROGRAM THAT HE HAS, UM, TOOK SO MUCH TIME WRITING ME ABOUT WE HAD ANOTHER STUDENT THAT ALSO DESIGNED AN ENTIRE CAMPAIGN AROUND ATTENDANCE. AND UM IT'S ALWAYS GOOD WHEN YOU HEAR FROM PEOPLE AND IT MAKES YOU REFLECT ON HOW WE CAN DO EVEN BETTER AS A DISTRICT AND ENHANCE OUR FAMILY, SO IT WAS JUST SO WELL WRITTEN AND THEN THE LATEST ONE I RECEIVED, UM WAS THAT, UH, A RANCH VIEW HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT WANTED THE POSSIBILITY. FOR ME TO CANCEL SCHOOL TOMORROW SO THAT WE COULD ALL GO TO THE PARADE. AND SO I WILL SAY SORRY, SERGIO, WE ARE GOING TO HAVE SCHOOL TOMORROW BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT TO MAKE IT UP. [3. Audience for Guests]
ALRIGHT THE NEXT AGENDA ITEM IS ITEM NUMBER THREE AUDIENCE FOR GUESTS, PERSONS WHO WISH TO SPEAK DURING THE AUDIENCE FOR GUEST MUST HAVE COMPLETED A FORM FOR THIS PURPOSE AND PLACED IN THE DESIGNATED LOCATION PRIOR TO THE OPENING OF THE MEETING. MISS CANADA. DO WE HAVE ANY ADDITIONAL FORMS, OKAY? SO BEFORE I BEGIN, I WILL REMIND OUR AUDIENCE MEMBERS OF THE BOARDS PROCEDURES FOR HANDLING AUDIENCE FOR GUESTS. ANYONE INTERESTED TO SPEAK IN PERSON DURING AUDIENCE FOR GUESTS MUST HAVE COMPLETED A FORM AND LISTED THE TOPIC THEY WISH TO DISCUSS.PRIOR TO THE START OF THE MEETING, EACH SPEAKER WILL BE ALLOWED TO SPEAK ONE STARING AUDIENCE FOR GUESTS AND WILL BE ALLOWED A MAXIMUM OF THREE MINUTES TO ADDRESS THE BOARD AS DICTATED BY BOARD POLICY B E. D LOCAL BECAUSE THE BOARD WANTS TO HEAR FROM AS MANY OF YOU AS POSSIBLE, WHILE ALSO KEEPING THE MEETING RUNNING EFFICIENTLY. GROUPS OF MORE THAN FIVE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO PRESENT ON A PARTICULAR VIEWPOINT ON A TOPIC SHOULD APPOINT ONE PERSON TO SPEAK ON BEHALF OF THEIR GROUP. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE BOARD CANNOT DELIBERATE ON ANY SUBJECT
[00:30:04]
THAT IS NOT INCLUDED ON THE AGENDA FOR THIS MEETING. BOARD MEMBERS WILL LISTEN TO COMMENTS BUT WILL NOT RESPOND OR ANSWER QUESTIONS. WE ASK THAT YOU NOT DISCUSS STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT YOUR THE TIMER WILL BE SHOWN ON THE SCREEN IN FRONT OF YOU, AND WE'LL BEGIN WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE PODIUM TO SPEAK AGAIN. THAT SPEAKER'S PRESENTATION WILL BE LIMITED TO THREE MINUTES. OUR FIRST SPEAKER FOR TONIGHT IS WILLIAM JONES.YES, NEVER WORKS OUT, DOES IT? FASHION. OH, WOULD YOU MIND IF I STARTED OVER SINCE I WAS OFF? OR IS THAT TOO MUCH OF A PROBLEM OR DO WE CATCH WHAT WE CAN ACTUALLY WHAT I SAID? WE GOT IT ALL RIGHT. SP THREE FROM THE 2021 SESSIONS, SAYS THAT A TEACHER ADMINISTRATOR, OTHER EMPLOYEES OF A STATE AGENCY SCHOOL DISTRICT OR OPEN ENROLLMENT CHARTER SCHOOL MAY NOT TEACH INSTRUCTOR TRAINED ANY ADMINISTRATOR, TEACHER OR STAFF MEMBER OF A STATE AGENCY, SCHOOL DISTRICT OR OPEN ENROLLMENT CHARTER SCHOOL TO ADOPT ANY NUMBER OF THE FOLLOWING. UM THE CONCEPT THAT AN INDIVIDUAL BY VIRTUE OF THE INDIVIDUAL'S RACE OR SEX IS INHERENTLY RACIST, SEXIST OR OPPRESSIVE, WHETHER CONSCIOUSLY, OR UNCONSCIOUSLY THAT AN INDIVIDUAL BY VIRTUE OF INDIVIDUALS, RACE OR SEX BEARS RESPONSIBILITY FOR ACTIONS COMMITTED TO PASS BY THE MEMBERS OF THE SAME RACE OR SEX. ALL RIGHT. SO IF YOU JUST GO AND PERUSE THE I R P S WEBSITE, IT'S RIGHT ON THEIR FRONT PAGE. THEY HAVE A PAPER CALLED A RESTORATIVE PRACTICE STRATEGY TO ADVANCE COMMUNITY HEALTH. UH I DON'T THINK I'D BE REMISS TO ASSUME THAT THIS PAPER REFLECTS THE VIEWS OF THE I R P AND THE TRAINING THEY PUT OUT FOR SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS SO MUCH READ YOU A COUPLE EXCERPTS OF PARTICULAR IMPORTANCE. THE USE OF RESTORATIVE PRACTICES MAKE SPACE FOR THOSE COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO MAY NOT HAVE PREVIOUSLY HAD A SEAT AT THE TABLE WHEN DECISIONS ARE MADE. FIND AND TORY IN 2021 CAUTION THAT IS NOT ENOUGH TO INVITE DIVERSE PEOPLE TO THE TABLE PROCESSES MUST BE ENGAGED, SO EVERYONE'S GIFTS IN LINE OF VISION ARE VISIBLE AND ANIMATED ALL FORMS OF PRIVILEGE. LIKE ACADEMIC, WHITE, HIGHLY EDUCATED ARE CHECKED CIRCLES, FOR EXAMPLE, FUNCTIONS THAT PARTICIPANTS GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO SUPPORT TO SPEAK WITHOUT INTERRUPTION OR OBJECTION WHEN THERE IS A HISTORY OF TOP DOWN POWER STRUCTURES AND COMMUNITY DYSFUNCTION, THE STRUCTURE OF CIRCLES ALONE CAN ENSURE THAT EVERYONE PRESENT WILL FEEL COMFORTABLE OR SAFE ENOUGH TO DO SO. FURTHER ON IN THAT PARTICULAR. AH! ARTICLE. COMMUNITY MEMBERS ARE INVITED TO NAME THE NORMS, BEHAVIORS AND PRACTICES THAT ARE CONSCIOUSLY OR UNCONSCIOUSLY VALUED IN THE COMMUNITY. GOOD OR BAD. THEN THEY CAN WORK TOWARDS A SHARED VISION FOR THE OPTIMAL HEALTH OF THE COMMUNITY, IDENTIFY NEW NORMS TO HELP FACILITATE THAT VISION FURTHER IF WE CONTINUE TO ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY IN AN ONGOING AND ITERATIVE PROCESS OF LISTENING AND DIALOGUE, IT CAN HELP TO BUILD CRITICAL CONSCIOUSNESS. THAT HONORS THE PERSPECTIVES OF MULTIPLE IDENTITIES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY. SO I BROUGHT THIS UP BEFORE WE TALK ABOUT WHAT EXACTLY CRITICAL CONSCIOUSNESS MEANS THERE'S VARIOUS CRITICAL THEORIES THAT GO INTO FORMING A CRITICAL CONSCIOUSNESS. THE ONE THAT OBVIOUSLY WAS TALKED ABOUT WHAT THIS PARTICULAR LEGISLATION WAS CRITICAL RACE THEORY AND AGAIN, THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT HOW ALL FORMS OF PRIVILEGE LIKE WHITENESS OR WHITE, SPECIFICALLY WITH A CAPITAL W MUST BE CHECKED. SO HERE WE HAVE A TRAINING THAT WERE SPENT OVER A QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS, SENDING OUR TEACHERS TO THAT'S TALKING ABOUT EXAMINING WHITE PRIVILEGE, READ SB THREE AND TELL ME IF THAT'S ALLOWED. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MR JONES AND ADMINISTRATOR WILL CONTACT YOU TO FOLLOW UP. OUR NEXT AGENDA ITEM IS ITEM
[4. Non-Action Items for Discussion]
NUMBER FOUR NON ACTION ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION. WE'LL START WITH ITEM FOR A HOUSE BILL. THREE.GOOD EVENING, DR ELDRIDGE, PRESIDENT HATFIELD AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD TONIGHT WE ARE PROVIDING AN UPDATE OF OUR HOUSE BILL, THREE BOARD GOALS FOR ANY NEW BOARD MEMBERS. THESE GOALS WERE ESTABLISHED BASED ON STAR PERFORMANCE FROM THE 2018 2019 SCHOOL YEAR AND WERE INITIALLY APPROVED IN APRIL OF 2020. PART OF MY ROLE IS TO KEEP YOU UP TO DATE ON THE PROGRESS THAT OUR DISTRICT IS MAKING IN ORDER TO MEET THESE GOALS. REMEMBERING BACK TO 2015 HOUSE BILL. THREE BOARD GOALS WERE A RESULT OF THE TEXAS HIGHER EDUCATION STRATEGIC PLAN, WHICH DECLARED THAT BY THE YEAR 2030 AT LEAST 60% OF TEXANS AGES 25 TO 34 WOULD HAVE A CERTIFICATE OR A DEGREE. AND SO
[00:35:03]
ALL SCHOOL DISTRICTS WERE CHARGED TO MONITOR THIRD GRADE MATHEMATICS AND THIRD GRADE.EARLY CHILDHOOD LITERACY AS WELL AS COLLEGE CAREER IN MILITARY READINESS INDICATORS AS A PROGRESS MEASURE OF HOW STUDENTS WOULD PROGRESS THROUGH SCHOOL. SO OUR GOALS LOOK AT EARLY CHILDHOOD LITERACY AND MATHEMATICS FOR OUR THIRD GRADE STUDENTS THROUGH THE STATE ASSESSMENT DATA, AND SO WHAT WE DO IS WE TRACK THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS WHO MEET GRADE LEVEL OR ABOVE EACH YEAR LEADING UP TO THE SPRING OF 2024. DUE TO COVID 19 DISRUPTIONS ON STUDENT INSTRUCTION AND STATE TESTING OUR HOUSE BILL, THREE BOARD GOALS WERE REVISED DURING THE MARCH 4TH 2022 REGULAR SESSION BOARD MEETING AND USE THE STAR PERFORMANCE DATA FROM THE 2020 21 SCHOOL YEAR. AND THIS WAS OUR FIRST DATA SET FOLLOWING THE CANCELATION OF THE 2020 STATE TESTING DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. AND SO HERE'S A TIMELINE FOR YOUR REFERENCE TO HAVE A GENERAL IDEA OF WHEN THE BOARD GOALS WERE ADJUSTED. I'VE ALSO NOTED NOTED FOR YOUR REFERENCE, WHICH DATA SETS WERE USED DURING THOSE TIMES. SO YOU'LL SEE HERE A COMPARISON OF THE ORIGINAL GOALS AND THE ADJUSTED GOALS FOR THE PROJECTION UP TO 2024, WHICH AGAIN IT CAME AS A RESULT OF THE COVID IMPLICATIONS DUE TO LOSS OF LEARNING. THESE UH, THESE WERE RESET USING THE BASELINE SCORES OF THE STATE PROJECTIONS. AND THEN IT'S CCM ARE AND SO AGAIN, THESE TABLES SHOW THE UPDATED GOALS AS THE BASELINE CHANGES, UM, CHANGED FOR MATH AND READING AT MEETS GRADE LEVEL AND ABOVE. SO LOOKING NOW, MORE SPECIFICALLY TO OUR REVISED GOALS. KEY THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND HERE ARE THAT THESE TARGETS ARE BASED ON STUDENTS PERFORMING AT THE MEATS GRADE LEVEL AND ABOVE. AND SO THESE SCORES, YOU'LL SEE THAT THEY INCREASE EACH YEAR BEGINNING IN 2019. AND THINKING BACK TO THAT ONE OF THOSE FIRST SLIDES IS THAT THE STATE'S GOAL AND INTENTION IS TO REACH 60% BY 2030. HERE WE CAN SEE IN THE 2022 23 DATA ARE STUDENTS SURPASSED THE 41% MEETS GRADE LEVEL AND ABOVE BOARD GOAL BY PERFORMING AT 45% AND YOU'LL ALSO SEE THAT ARE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. UM, FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR, WE ARE 4% POINTS HIGHER. BASED OFF OF OUR FALL MAP DATA, THEN WE WERE LAST YEAR. AND SO THIS MEANS THAT OUR CURRENT THIRD GRADE STUDENTS ARE AT THE PROJECTED PROFICIENCY LEVEL OF MEATS GRADE LEVEL ABOVE AND AS THEY CONTINUE TO LEARN MATHEMATICS IN THE STATE. EIGHT STANDARDS WERE CONFIDENT THAT WILL ACHIEVE OUR GOAL SET THIS YEAR. NOW LOOKING TO FOURTH GRADE READING IF WE TAKE A LOOK BACK AT THE 2022 23 DATA, WE SEE THAT AGAIN. WE SURPASSED THE THIRD GRADE READING HOUSE BILL THREE GOAL BY 8% POINTS AND WITH A PROJECTED PROFICIENCY RATE OF 43% OF THE MEATS GRADE LEVEL OR ABOVE, OR C F B, I S D. CURRENT THIRD GRADE STUDENTS ARE 3% POINTS AWAY FROM OUR END OF THE YEAR GO AGAIN. THESE WERE THE BOARD GOALS THAT WE SET BACK IN 2022 THAT ADJUSTMENT THIS YEAR. STUDENT PERFORMANCE IS 5% HIGHER AT THAT FALL MAP THAN IT WAS FOR LAST YEAR. AND SO WE'RE CONTINUING TO SEE GAINS IN READING. UM POST COVID. AND SO WE ARE HOPEFUL FOR A CONTINUED INCREASE, AND SO AS MENTIONED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PRESENTATION, UM WE DID REVISE THE GOALS, UM, THAT THE BOARD APPROVED AND LOOKING HERE AT C C MAR. THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE CHOSE TO KEEP SOME AGGRESSIVE AND SOME LOFTY GOALS, WHICH MEANS THAT WE HAVE HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR OUR STUDENTS.
UM AND SO AS WE TAKE A LOOK HERE WE CAN SEE THAT, BASED ON PRELIMINARY INDICATORS, THE CLASS OF 2023 HAS A PROJECTED OVERALL CCM OUR PERCENTAGE OF 61% KEEPING IN MIND THAT THIS IS A LAGGING INDICATOR. UM WE SEE AGAIN WITH THE POTENTIAL TO RAISE EVEN HIGHER AS WE ARE AWAITING OUR ACCOUNTABILITY INFORMATION TO COME THROUGH THE PORTALS THAT TA DOES PROVIDE US AND SO YOU'LL SEE HERE THAT IT'S SHADED A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY BECAUSE THIS IS BASED ON AVAILABLE DATA THAT WE HAVE NOW NOT. THE STATES REPORTED DATA FOR THE COHORT 2023. UM AND SO EVEN THOUGH WE ARE STILL IMPROVING IN THIS AREA. IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT OTHER DISTRICTS ARE TURNING TO THE WORK OF C F B. I S D, UM TO SEE HOW THEY CAN INCREASE THEIR CCM OUR RESULTS. UM WE HAVE SOME OF THE LEADING DATA POINTS IN TERMS OF FAST FOOD COMPLETION IN THE AREA, AS WELL AS OUR DALLAS COUNTY PROMISED EFFORTS. THE TAKEAWAYS TONIGHT ARE THAT THE FBI HAS SURPASSED OUR HOUSE BILL THREE BOARD GOAL FOR THE 2022 23 SCHOOL YEAR AND WE'RE ON TARGET FOR MEETING OUR MATH GOALS FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR. AS WELL AS WE EXCEEDED OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD
[00:40:02]
LITERACY GULL AND ARE ON TARGET TO MEET T E A S GOAL OF 60% BEFORE 2030. THEN AGAIN WITH THE AVAILABLE CCM OUR DATA WE CONTINUE TO SHOW STEADY INCREASES AS WE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT OUR CAMPUSES TO ENSURE THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE LEAVING US, UM, COLLEGE CAREER OR MILITARY READY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME THIS EVENING. THANK YOU, MS KEANE, BOARD MEMBERS.YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? MR STOCKMAN. SKIING THANK YOU APPRECIATE THE INFORMATION ANY ANTICIPATION ABOUT CHANGES IN THE WAY WE GET DATA FROM THE STATE WITH THE COURT DISALLOWING CERTAIN ASPECTS OF STAR. SO ARE YOU REFERENCING THE CURRENT. THE COURTS THIS WEEK HAVE THROWN OUT STAR AND MOST AND FOR MOST OF THE STATE RATING SYSTEM A THROUGH F. AND I'M CURIOUS IF THEY ARE WE WHAT ARE WE HEARING AND HOW'S IT GOING? WHAT WE'VE BEEN ADVISED ON IS THAT THE COURTS ARE SAYING YOU CAN'T MOVE FORWARD WITH ASSIGNING A RATING TO THE CAMPUSES AND THE DISTRICTS BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T MEET YOUR OWN DEADLINES. AND SO THAT'S WHY THERE'S A PAUSE ON THE REPORTING NOW TO LET YOU ALL KNOW ON TUESDAY, HALLOWEEN ALONG WITH THOSE ORANGES AND APPLES AND BANANAS, UM THEY DID FINALLY RELEASED THE FINAL MANUAL FOR THE ACCOUNTABILITY, HOWEVER. WHILE WE'RE LEARNING ALL OF THAT, AND WHILE WE'RE TAKING A LOOK AND KIND OF SEEING WHAT EVERYTHING MEANS BECAUSE THEY DID CHANGE THE SCALING, NOTHING WOULD BE REPORTED OUT OR STATED. AS YOU KNOW, A DISTRICT IS THIS RATING OR THAT RATING AND SO THERE IS A PAUSE, SO THE UPCOMING COURT CASE UNLESS A JUDGE WERE TO COME OUT FROM ANOTHER COUNTY AND SAY SOMETHING DIFFERENT IS OUR ANTICIPATED UPDATE WOULD COME IN FEBRUARY, FEBRUARY, 12TH I BELIEVE IS THE NEXT COURT DATE. SO REGARDLESS OF WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE MANUAL AND WHAT WERE, YOU KNOW, GOING TO STRATEGICALLY TAKE A LOOK AT TO SEE HOW OUR CAMPUSES ARE DOING SO OUR STUDENTS CAN GROW. WE WON'T HEAR ANYTHING UNTIL FEBRUARY. GREAT AND WE APPRECIATE ALL THE DATA THAT YOU FOLKS PROVIDE. THANK YOU. HAPPY TO DO SO. BOARD MEMBERS. THE ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS, MR ERIC JUST GOING TO ADD A COMMENT CAN THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE PRESENTATION. GREAT DATA. THANK YOU FOR SHARING. AND I JUST WANT TO RECOGNIZE THAT BEHIND ALL THIS DATA IS OUR TEACHERS AND HELPERS IN THE CLASSROOM, MAKING THE MAGIC HAPPEN BECAUSE I KNOW THAT WE LOVE SEEING THE NUMBERS, BUT WE FULLY RECOGNIZE THAT THERE'S A LOT THAT GOES BEHIND THE SCENES TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN. SO THIS WAS DEFINITELY A TEAM PROJECT TO GET US WHERE WE WERE. AND I THINK THINGS ARE EXCITING AND CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT UPDATE. THANK YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH. ANY OTHER COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS, RIGHT. THANK YOU SO MUCH. MS KEANE FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK AND FOR THE TEAM'S EFFORTS TO PUT THIS TOGETHER. THANK YOU. OUR NEXT AGENDA ITEM IS ITEM FOUR B TEACHER INCENTIVE ALLOTMENT. MS DELAROSA. OUR DR DELAROSA.
SORRY. GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT HADFIELD, BORDER TRUSTEES AND DR ELDRIDGE. I AM EXCITED AND HAPPY TO REPORT THE TEACHER INCENTIVE ALLOTMENT AND WHERE WE'RE AT AS A DISTRICT. THE TEACHER.
INCENTIVE ALLOTMENT WAS DEVELOPED BY STATE LEGISLATOR THROUGH HOUSE BILL THREE, AND IT WAS THE PRIMARY GOALS WERE TWOFOLD. ONE WAS RETENTION TO ENSURE THAT OUR TOP TEACHERS HAVE A REALISTIC PATH. TO A COMPETITIVE ANNUAL SALARY. AND THEN THE SECOND GOAL IS RECRUITMENT TO ATTRACT AND KEEP EFFECTIVE. EDUCATORS IN THE CLASSROOM AND INCENTIVIZED TEACHING AT OUR CHALLENGING CAMPUSES. SO THERE ARE THREE LEVELS FOR A T I A DESIGNATION WE HAVE THE RECOGNIZED LEVEL WHERE TEACHERS CAN EARN APPROXIMATELY 3000 TO 9000 PER YEAR ANNUALLY. THEY ALSO HAVE TO ALIGN WITH THE TOP 30% IN THE STATE ACROSS THE STATE OF TEXAS NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFIED TEACHERS COMING INTO THE T I A PROGRAM AS AN AUTOMATIC RECOGNIZED INDIGNATION. THE NEXT LEVEL, WE HAVE THE EXEMPLARY LEVEL. THESE TEACHERS CAN EARN ANYWHERE BETWEEN AN ADDITIONAL 6 TO 18,000 PER YEAR. AND WILL REPRESENT APPROXIMATELY THE TOP 20% IN THE STATE OF TEXAS. THE TOP LEVEL OF T I A DESIGNATION IS A MASTER. THESE REPRESENT.
THIS REPRESENTS THE TOP 5% OF TEACHERS ACROSS THE STATE OF TEXAS AND CAN EARN FROM 12 TO 32,000 PER YEAR. NOW ONCE AWARDED IT DESIGNATION. THE DESIGNATION GOES INTO THE
[00:45:09]
TEACHERS ASPECT CERTIFICATE CERTIFICATE AND IS VALID FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS. THE BEAUTY ABOUT THE T I A PROGRAM IS THAT AS EVERY YEAR A TEACHER CAN EARN A DESIGNATION, BUT A TEACHER CAN ALSO MOVE UP THE DIFFERENT LEVELS WITHIN THEIR FIVE YEARS OF THE DESIGNATION. SO THIS MEANS IF A TEACHER EARNED AN EXEMPLARY DESIGNATION THIS YEAR AND NEXT YEAR, THE TEACHER EARNS A MASTER'S. THE TEACHER CAN MOVE UP TO BE A MASTERS, SO THROUGHOUT THE LEVELS, THE TEACHERS MAY MOVE UP, BUT A TEACHER MAY NEVER MOVE DOWN WITHIN THEIR FIVE YEARS OF THE THEIR DESIGNATION. SO WHO CAN EARN A DESIGNATION? THE T I A PROGRAM TA PUT IT OUT AND ASSIGNED DISTRICTS TO DESIGN THEIR OWN PROGRAM. SO. AS LONG AS THEY FOLLOW THE THREE REQUIREMENTS. SO THE C F B I S D T I A SYSTEM COMPONENTS OF A T I A REQUIRED THAT A TEACHER MUST ONE TEACH IN THE T I A ELIGIBLE TEACHING ASSIGNMENT TO RECEIVE A TEETERS APPRAISAL. THAT'S THE TEACHER OBSERVATION PIECE. THREE RETAIN. I'M SORRY. REMAIN IN CONTINUOUS C F B. I S D EMPLOYMENT AS A TEACHER CODED AS A 087 DURING TWO CONSECUTIVE SCHOOL YEARS, THE TOP THREE COMPONENTS OF THE SYSTEM ARE THE TH REQUIREMENTS THAT WE MUST FOLLOW. THE FOURTH COMPONENT ON HERE IS CFB HAS ADDED IS THAT WE MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF FIVE STUDENTS DATA SCORES TO MEASURE THE STUDENT GROWTH AREA FOR THE T I A SYSTEM. THIS CHART SHOWN SHOWS COHORT D, WHICH WAS KNOWN AS PHASE ONE IN CFB. IT SHOWS THE GRADE LEVELS IN THE CONTENT AREAS THAT WERE THE FIRST TO BE USED IN THE T I A DESIGNATION DETERMINATION. THERE WERE A TOTAL OF 36 TO ELIGIBLE COURSES AND CFB FIRST DATA COLLECTION FOR THE 2122 SCHOOL YEAR. ALL OF THESE TO ELIGIBLE COURSES USED MAP THAN MAP ASSESSMENT TO MEASURE STUDENT GROWTH. SO WHAT DOES THIS LOOK LIKE? WHEN IT CAME TO THE T I A DESIGNATIONS. HERE. YOU SEE THE COHORT D. AND THE T I A STIPENDS AWARDED TO C F B. I S D PAY BASED ON THEIR 2223 DESIGNATIONS. WE HAD A TOTAL OF 39 TEACHERS THAT WERE DESIGNATED AT THE RECOGNIZED LEVEL. EARNING A T I A AWARD OF $3453. THROUGH 7295. THEN WE HAVE THE NEXT LEVEL OF EXEMPLARY WE HAD 125 TEACHERS EARN A AN EXEMPLARY DESIGNATION. EARNING A TIA AWARD OF 6907 THROUGH 14,828 . THE TOP LEVEL OF A MASTER. CFB HAD 24 TEACHERS DESIGNATED AS MASTER TEACHERS. THESE TEACHERS EARNED 13 BETWEEN 13,511 AND 26,714. THESE. MOST RECENT T I A DESIGNATIONS THAT WERE AWARDED IN AUGUST OF 2023. TOUCHED. I'M SORRY. WE HAD 188 TEACHERS TOTAL AND C F B I S D. WITH THE DESIGNATION EARNED 188 TEACHERS TOUCHED AND IMPACTED 35 OF OUR CFB CAMPUSES. BASED ON THE 2223 T I A DESIGNATION. OUR DISTRICT WAS AWARDED MORE THAN $1.9 MILLION IN AUGUST OF 2023. NOW LET'S LOOK AT COHORT E. AS A T I A PROGRAM EVOLVES. WE CONTINUE TO LOOK FOR WAYS TO QUALIFY AND ADD COURSES SO ADDITIONAL TEACHERS CAN TEACH A TIA ELIGIBLE COURSE. FOR COHORT E FACE TO SEE FBI SD ADDED 37 COURSES. NOW, LET'S LOOK TO SEE WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE IN REGARDS TO A T I A DESIGNATION. IT IS NOT WORTHY TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT[00:50:06]
THE T I. A ELIGIBLE COURSES HAS DOUBLED FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR. AND THE COUNTER TEACHERS DESIGNATIONS HAS INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE 2324 COHORT E ARE ELIGIBLE DESIGNATIONS. THIS MEANS THAT T A STILL HAS TO APPROVE THE 2324 COHORT E DESIGNATIONS. THOSE ARE ELIGIBLE DESIGNATIONS. WHILE WE HAD 970 TEACHERS TEACHING A T I A ELIGIBLE COURSE FOR COHORT D WE NOW HAVE 1254 TEACHERS TEACHING A T I A ELIGIBLE COURSE IN COHORT E. AS THE ELIGIBLE DESIGNATIONS. COHORT D HAD 188 TEACHERS. AND FOR COHORT, E. THE T I. A TEAM SUBMITTED 287 ELIGIBLE TEACHER DESIGNATIONS. LET'S LOOK TO SEE WHAT THESE DESIGNATIONS LOOK LIKE. COHORT D HAD 39 RECOGNIZED TEACHERS. COHORT E HAS 107 ELIGIBLE RECOGNIZED DESIGNATIONS. 93 OF THESE DESIGNATIONS ARE NEW DESIGNATIONS, THEIR FIRST TIME TEACHERS EARNING A DESIGNATION.THE NEXT DESIGNATION. IS EXEMPLARY COHORT D HAD 125 EXEMPLARY DESIGNATIONS. COHORT E HAS 158 ELIGIBLE, EXEMPLARY DESIGNATIONS. 10 TEACHERS MOVED FROM A RECOGNIZED TO AN EXEMPLARY DESIGNATION. AND WE HAD 92 TEACHERS WITH A NEW DESIGNATION FOR EXEMPLARY. THE TOP DESIGNATION IS A MASTER'S COHORT. D HAD 2014 TEACHER DESIGNATIONS COHORT E HAS 22 ELIGIBLE MASTER TEACHER DESIGNATIONS WITHIN THE MASTER DESIGNATION. WE HAD 10 TEACHERS MOVE UP FROM A RECOGNIZED AN EXEMPLARY TO A MASTER DESIGNATION, AND WE HAD A TOTAL OF EIGHT NEW DESIGNATIONS. AS FOR A MASTER DESIGNATION. NOW IN ORDER FOR COHORT E TO RECEIVE THAT T I A ALLOCATION. TA HAS TO APPROVE THE ELIGIBILITY AND THE EMPLOYEE MUST ALSO BE BE EMPLOYED WITH THE FBI SD BETWEEN THE 2425 SCHOOL YEAR BECAUSE THE PAYOUT WILL BE IN AUGUST OF 2024. SO THIS IS THE RETENTION STRATEGY THAT CFB USES TO RETAIN THE TEACHERS, THE HIGH PERFORMING TEACHERS. IN COLLABORATION WITH A FINE ARTS DIRECTORS TO ELIGIBLE COURSES EXPANDED TO INCLUDE FINE ARTS AND ELEMENTARY STEM FOR THE 2324 SCHOOL YEAR, ADDING AN ADDITIONAL 28 EI A ELIGIBLE COURSES. T TESTS AND STUDENT GROWTH WILL BE COLLECTED AT THE END OF THE 2324 SCHOOL YEAR AND SUBMITTED TO TA FOR ELIGIBLE DESIGNATIONS BETWEEN, UM IN OCTOBER OF 2024. IN THE SPRING OF 2025 WILL RECEIVE, UM, THE FINAL NOTICE OF THE DESIGNATIONS AND THEN THE TEACHERS WILL ALSO BE NOTIFIED OF THE DESIGNATIONS, BUT THEY WILL NOT BE AWARDED UNTIL AUGUST OF 2025. AND WE'LL LOOK AT THE TIMELINE SO THAT IT'S A LITTLE BIT MORE CLEAR. SO LET'S LOOK AT THE T I A COMPENSATION PLAN. T I A COMPENSATION IS AWARDED TO CAMPUS IS BASED ON THE NUMBER OF T I A DESIGNEES AND THE AMOUNT OF T I A DESIGNATION PAYOUT, BASED ON THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS IDENTIFIED AS ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED AT THE TEACHERS CAMPUS. HIGHER T I A STIPENDS ARE AWARDED TO THOSE CAMPUSES SERVING A HIGHER STUDENT POPULATION WITH LOW SOCIAL ECONOMIC STATUS. AT THIS AS THIS IS A STATE FUNDED PROGRAM. COMPENSATIONS AMOUNTS WILL CHANGE ANNUALLY. FOR THE FIRST YEAR OF T I A DESIGNATION CFB ADOPTED A PLAN IN WHICH T I A PAYOUT. WHAT FOR? THE 2223 WOULD BE ALLOCATED AS A 70 2010.
THIS MEANS THAT 70% OF THE ALLOCATION WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE DESIGNATED TEACHER. WHILE
[00:55:05]
20% WILL GO TO THE OTHER HIGH PERFORMING TEACHERS WITHIN THAT CAMPUS AND 10% THAT THE DISTRICT WILL RETAIN THE 10. AS ONE OF THE PRIMARY GOALS OF THE T I A IS TO ATTRACT HIGH PERFORMING TEACHERS IN OUR CHALLENGING CAMPUSES. CFB ADOPTED A T I A PLAN FOR THE SIX HIGH NEED CAMPUSES. THIS MEANS THAT 85% OF THE ALLOCATION WILL GO TO THE DESIGNATED TEACHER. 15% WILL GO TO THE OTHER HIGH PERFORMING TEACHERS AND THE DISTRICT WOULD NOT RETAIN THEIR PERCENTAGE FOR, UM THE HIGH NEED CAMPUSES DESIGNATIONS. SO WHAT IS A HIGH NEED CAMPUS? AND HOW DO WE DEFINE THAT? AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL, HIGH NEEDS WAS DEFINED AS 90% OR MORE OF THE STUDENTS IDENTIFIED AS ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL. HIGH NEED WAS DEFINED AS 80% OR MORE OF STUDENTS IDENTIFIED AS ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED. AS MENTIONED, ONE OF THE PRIMARY GOALS WAS TO ATTRACT AND RETAIN HIGH PERFORMING TEACHERS. SO FOR THE T I A STIPEND PAYOUT FOR COHORT, D, E AND F CFB HAS ADOPTED A NEW PAYOUT PLAN. CFB ADOPTED A NIGHTIE 10. PAYOUT PLAN. THIS IS NEW. SO WHAT THIS MEANS AS AS THE DESIGNATIONS COME IN, PER TEACHER, THE TEACHER WILL RECEIVE FOR ALL CAMPUSES. 90% OF THE ALLOCATION WILL GO TO THE DESIGNATED TEACHER WHILE THE DISTRICT RETAINS 10% OF THE ALLOCATION FOR T I A SUPPORT SYSTEMS. AND THEN AGAIN, JUST AS A REMINDER. THIS IS A STATE FUNDED PROGRAMS SO THE AMOUNT WILL CHANGE ANNUALLY. NOW LET'S LOOK AT TIMELINES SO THAT WE HAVE A CLEAR PICTURE AS TO HOW EACH COHORT MOVES THROUGH THE PROCESS. HERE WE HAVE THE TIMELINE FOR COHORT D, THE ONE THAT JUST GOT PAID IN AUGUST OF 2023. WE SUBMITTED THE APPLICATION IN THE SUMMER OF 2021. THEN WE COLLECTED AND CAPTURED THE DATA. FOR TEACHER OBSERVATION AND STUDENT GROWTH BETWEEN THE 2122 SCHOOL YEAR. WE SUBMITTED THE DESIGNATION RECOMMENDATIONS TO T A AND TEXAS TECH THE FALL OF 2022. THEN WE RECEIVE APPROVAL OF THOSE DESIGNATIONS IN THE SPRING OF 2023. WE NOTIFY THE TEACHERS OF THEIR DESIGNATION NOTIFICATION THROUGH THE T A, THE SPRING OF 2023. AND THEN THE PAYOUT IS IN THE FALL OF 2023. COHORT E PHASE TWO GOES THROUGH THE SAME PROCESS. WE SUBMITTED AN APPLICATION FOR THE SUMMER OF 2022. THEN WE CAPTURE THE DATA OF TEACHER OBSERVATION AND STUDENT GROWTH. THE SCHOOL YEAR OF 2223. IN THE FALL OF 2023, WHICH IS RIGHT NOW WE SUBMIT DESIGNATION RECOMMENDATION. THAT'S COHORT E. THE SECOND COLUMN THAT YOU SAW ON THAT SLIDE TO T A N TO TEXAS TECH FOR APPROVAL. IN THE SPRING OF 2024.WE RECEIVED THE FINAL NOTIFICATION OF APPROVAL FOR THOSE DESIGNATIONS. WE NOTIFY THE TEACHERS IN THE SPRING. BUT THEIR PAYOUT WILL BE IN THE FALL OF 2024. AND NOW WE HAVE COHORT F THE SAME PROCESS. WE FOLLOW THE SAME PROCESS. WE SUBMITTED AN APPLICATION IN THE SUMMER OF 2023 WERE COLLECTING THE DATA FOR 20 FOR TEACHER OBSERVATION AND STUDENT GROWTH THIS YEAR, 2324 WELL, UH, SUBMIT THE DESIGNATIONS IN THE FALL OF 2024 WILL GET NOTIFICATION IN THE SPRING OF 25. WE NOTIFY THE TEACHERS AND THE YEAR OF 2025 OF THE SPRING, AND THEN THE PAYOUT WILL BE THE FALL OF 2025. SO WHAT OUR NEXT STEPS FOR C F B. I S D AND THE T I A PROGRAM.
HAVING SPENT. THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS, WORKING CLOSELY WITH THE T I A PROGRAM IN THE T I A TEAM.
I'VE COME TO RECOGNIZE THE IMMENSE POTENTIAL FOR IMPROVEMENT THROUGH CROSS DEPARTMENTAL COLLABORATION. THE T I A PROGRAM EXTENDS ITS INFLUENCE INTO EVERY SINGLE DEPARTMENT, TOUCHING ON THE ASPECTS OF TEACHING AND LEARNING . SPECIAL EDUCATION, FINE ARTS, FINANCE, HUMAN RESOURCES AND LEADERSHIP. IN ORDER TO ENSURE ITS SUCCESS. IT'S IMPERATIVE THAT WE TAKE OWNERSHIP AND HAVE A VOICE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE T I A SYSTEM. WITH THE
[01:00:07]
BELIEF OF INVOLVING THOSE WHO ARE DIRECTLY IMPACTED BY OUR DECISIONS ARE DEDICATED.TEACHERS ARE PARAMOUNT IN BUILDING THE SYSTEM. BY ESTABLISHING REGULAR T I A AMBASSADOR MEETINGS. WE CAN NOT ONLY BUILD CAPACITY BUT ALSO COLLECTIVELY MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS THAT ARE GOING TO DRIVE US FORWARD. EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SERVES AS THE CORNERSTONE FOR THE SUCCESS OF ANY SYSTEM. THEREFORE UPDATING OUR T A GUIDE AND WEBSITE WILL PLAY A PIVOTAL ROLE IN KEEPING OUR CURRENT TEACHERS INFORMED AND ATTRACTING NEW TALENT TO JOIN THE RANKS OF C F B I S D. THROUGH THESE EFFORTS, WE CAN NOT ONLY ENHANCE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE T A PROGRAM BUT ALSO FOSTER AN ENVIRONMENT OF COLLABORATION GROWTH AND SHARED SUCCESS. TOGETHER, WE CAN CREATE A SYSTEM THAT NOT ONLY MEETS THE NEEDS OF TODAY, BUT ALSO PAVES THE WAY FOR EVEN A BRIGHTER TEACHER FOR OUR T I A TEACHERS BECAUSE. THE TWO GOALS THAT WE HAVE IN T I A IS TO RETAIN AND RECRUIT HIGH PERFORMING TEACHERS. THANK YOU, DR DELAROSA BOARD MEMBERS. DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? MR BRODERICK. UM EXCUSE ME. THANK YOU FOR THE UPDATE. UM I THINK THE OTHER WORD IS REWARD. OUR TEACHERS. I MEAN, I KNOW THEY'RE RECOGNIZED EXEMPLARY AND MASTER WITHOUT THE OFFICIAL LABEL, BUT I APPRECIATE THAT THERE IS A PROGRAM TO GET THAT CERTIFICATION TO THEM AS WELL AS THE MONETARY AWARD.
BECAUSE I KNOW THAT HELPS. UM, I DO REMEMBER IN THE EARLY STAGES OF THIS PROGRAM, WE WERE PRESENTED INFORMATION ON HOW THE PERCENTAGES FOR TEACHER CAMPUS DISTRICT WERE DEVELOPED. UM, THROUGH WHAT? I REMEMBER BEING A PRETTY COLLABORATIVE PROCESS OF CONVERSATIONS THAT CAMPUS LEVEL WITH WITH TEACHERS AND CAMPUS LEADERS. CAN YOU TELL ME? UM WAS THAT A SIMILAR PROCESS FOR THIS NEW PAYOUT PERCENTAGE. THAT WAS JUST SHOWN. WE'RE TALKING ABOUT WHAT PERCENTAGE 9010 GOING AWAY.
YOU KNOW FROM THE TEACHER TO, UM I THINK IT WAS DISTRICT AND THE CHANGE FROM THE PAVEMENT. THE PAY COMPENSATION PLAN. UM DISTRICT LEADERSHIP REEVALUATED THE WHOLE PLAN THIS PAST SUMMER AFTER PAYING OUT OUR CURRENT PAYOUT, WHICH WAS IN AUGUST OF 2023. THOSE WERE THE TEACHERS THAT WERE RECENTLY PAID. AND KNOWING THAT THERE'S TEACHERS WITHIN AND OUTSIDE OUR DISTRICT ALSO SHOPPING TO SEE. WHAT IS THE COMPENSATION PLAN. ARE THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS EVEN TEACHING THE COURSE THAT I AM CERTIFIED IN? IS IT A T? I A ELIGIBLE COURSE SO KNOWING THAT PIECE WAS THERE AND LISTENING TO THE TEACHERS THAT ARE COMING INTO THE DISTRICT AS THERE, UM SURFING THE WEB AND LOOKING AT OUR WEBSITES. IT WAS BENEFICIAL FOR THE DISTRICT LEADERSHIP TEAM TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT AND JUST GIVE THE TEACHERS THAT 90% PAYOUT AND WHICH IS MORE FOR THE TEACHER, AND THAT'S THE ATTRACTION PIECE. THE STRATEGY THAT WE'RE TRYING TO PUSH OUT TO RECRUIT HIGH PERFORMING TEACHERS. WAS IT PRESENTED TO CAMPUSES FOR FEEDBACK? AND WAS IT PRESENTED TO TEACHERS OR THE T I A AMBASSADOR TEAMS FOR FEEDBACK? NO, IT WAS NOT. THANK YOU. MR ERIC. I JUST WANT TO BUILD OFF OF THAT QUESTION. WHAT ARE WE SEEING THAT OTHER DISTRICTS ARE DOING BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE WE CAME UP WITH THIS, UM, COMPENSATION PLAN ON OUR OWN. IT WASN'T SOMETHING THAT TA TOLD US. WE HAD TO DO. SO WHAT ARE OTHER DISTRICTS AROUND US DOING? ARE THEY DOING A 9010? OR THEY DOING SOMETHING SIMILAR TO WHAT WE WERE DOING BEFORE SOME DISTRICTS, EVERY DISTRICT DEVELOPS THEIR OWN PLAN. AND DEPENDING ON THE DISTRICT AND THE FEEDBACK THAT THEY'RE GETTING WHAT I'VE SEEN. THEY'RE PHASING IN THE 90 DAYS, THE 90% WHEN THE TEACHER GETS 90% THEY'RE GETTING MORE MONEY OF THE ALLOCATION. RIGHT THE 70% OF THE ALLOCATION THE WORLD THEY'RE ONLY GETTING 70% SO THEY'RE NOT GETTING THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE PROGRAM OF WHAT IT WAS INTENDED FOR. SO KNOWING THAT SOME DISTRICTS DO HAVE 90% SOME DISTRICTS HAVE 70% BECAUSE THEY'RE PHASING IT INTO THE 90. THE ULTIMATE GOAL IS 90. AH DISTRICT LEADERSHIP HERE DECIDED TO TAKE IT FULL TO 90 ATTRACT THE HIGH PERFORMING TEACHERS.
WHAT'S THE 10% BEING USED FOR? THE 10% IS BEING USED TO SUPPORT THE T I A SYSTEM. UM THERE'S A LOT OF MANPOWER THAT GOES INTO THE SUPPORT INTO BUILDING THE DATABASES AND COLLECTING THE
[01:05:06]
DATA. UM BUILDING ASSESSMENTS SO THAT WE CAN QUALIFY MORE ELIGIBLE COURSES BECAUSE, AS YOU KNOW, TO BE AN ELIGIBLE COURSE, UM, YOU HAVE TO BE HAVE TO HAVE A PRE AND A POST ASSESSMENT. WE USE MAP. FOR A LOT OF THE ASSESSMENTS, BUT SOME OF OUR COURSES DO NOT HAVE, UM, AN ASSESSMENT ALREADY BUILT IN. SO WE USE. UM THE DEPARTMENT COORDINATORS DIRECTORS ARE USING , UH, DATABASE OF QUESTIONS THAT WE CAN CREATE OUR OWN DISTRICT ASSESSMENTS FOR THE PRE AND THE POST, AND WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT. UH, THOSE BANKS HAVE QUESTIONS. ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS.PORTMAN'S MR SHENKMAN. DR DELAROSA. THANK YOU. AND SO EXCITING TO SEE 1.9 MILLION HAS COME TO REWARD ONE OF OUR GREAT TEACHERS. A SERIES ABOUT GREAT TEACHERS WANT PEOPLE WHO ARE WATCHING AT HOME ON TV HAS TO UNDERSTAND. THIS IS NOT DISTRICT FUNDS. THESE ARE ADDITIONAL STATE FUNDS ON THAT, WITH THAT IN MIND ARE ALL OF OUR CAMPUSES PRESENTLY USING THE T I A PROGRAM AND ARE ALL OF THEM USING IT WITH FIDELITY. SO THAT'S THAT GOES BACK TO THE ELIGIBLE COURSES. SO ANYBODY WHO'S TEACHING A T I A ELIGIBLE COURSE. UM, AND I CAN GO BACK TO THOSE CHARTS. THEY'RE ALREADY IN THE SYSTEM THAT AUTOMATICALLY PUTS IT IN. IT AUTOMATICALLY PUTS THE TEACHER IN THE SYSTEM. ALL THE TEACHER HAS TO DO IS GIVE THE PRE ASSESSMENT AND THE POST ASSESSMENT SO THAT IS PHASE ONE. THOSE ARE ALL THE GRADE LEVELS TENDERED THROUGH 10TH GRADE IN MATH, READING, SCIENCE AND WRITING. THAT WAS PHASE ONE. THEN WE ADDED. THE PHASE TWO AND WE ADDED MORE SECONDARY COURSES, SO THERE'S MORE ELIGIBILITY THERE. AND THEN THE THIRD PHASE.
IS WE ADDED THE FINE ARTS AND THE STEM SO AS WE'RE LOOKING TO SEE WHERE THE GAPS ARE. WE'RE LOOKING TO SEE WHAT OTHER COURSES WE CAN ADD, BECAUSE THE THING ABOUT ADDING A COURSES THAT YOU HAVE TO HAVE A PRE AND POST TEST SO WE HAVE AND IT HAS TO BE VALID AND IT HAS TO BE RELIABLE. ONCE WE IDENTIFY AN ASSESSMENT, WE HAVE TO SUBMIT IT TO TEXT TO TA AND TEXAS TECH. TO GET APPROVAL. IF IT'S THIS ASSESSMENT IS RELIABLE, AND, UM YEAH. THANK YOU, MHM. ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS. BOARD MEMBERS. OKAY, SO I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE I UNDERSTAND THIS CORRECTLY ON PHASE ONE. THOSE TEACHERS WERE USING ESSENTIALLY STAR DATA AND THAT DATA JUST MAP DATA, JUST THE MAP DATA. AND THEN ONCE YOU GET TO PHASE TWO AND PHASE THREE, THE ADDED COURSES DON'T HAVE MAP ASSOCIATED WITH THEM, SO WE'RE USING LOCALLY DEVELOPED ASSESSMENTS FROM A DATABASE.
THAT IS CORRECT SOME OF THEM IF WE CAN USE MAP DATA FOR A PRE AND POST ASSESSMENT, WE'RE GOING TO USE THE MAP. UM BUT IF NOT, IT'S A DISTRICT CREATED ASSESSMENT. THANK YOU. AND THEN MY SECOND QUESTION IS BACK TO WHAT MR BOSTIC SAID WAS. I ALSO REMEMBER IN THE BEGINNING THERE WAS A LOT OF INPUT FROM TEACHERS ABOUT THE STRUCTURE OF THE SYSTEM. AND I REMEMBER SEEING SOME DIFFERENT PERCENTAGES LIKE IT WASN'T ALL BASED ON A PRE AND POST TESTS. THERE WAS ALSO SOME OTHER CATEGORIES. I FEEL LIKE OKAY STILL IN PLACE. SO THOSE ARE THE THREE REQUIREMENTS. UM TA SAYS IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR A DESIGNATION. YOU HAVE TO HAVE A TEACHER OBSERVATION AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE TO HAVE THE PRE AND THE POST TEST THE PERCENTAGES OF HOW IT'S WEIGHTED IS THE TEAR IS, UH, THE TEACHER FEEDBACK SO CURRENTLY WE USE 40% FOR TEACHER OBSERVATION. AND WE USED 40% FOR THE STUDENT GROWTH. THE TEACHERS HAD THAT INPUT. THEN WE ALSO HAVE THE 20% ON THE OTHER, WHICH, UH, THE STAKEHOLDER FEEDBACK DECIDED TO USE DOMAIN ONE AND DOMAIN FOUR OF T TEST ALONG WITH STUDENT ATTENDANCE, AND THAT WEIGHS IN 20. AND IS THAT THE ORIGINAL OR THE ORIGINAL? THAT HAS NOT CHANGED? UM I'M I AM GOING TO TAKE IT BACK, KNOWING THAT WE JUST GOTTA PAY OUT. THIS WAS THE VERY FIRST PAYOUT THAT THE TEACHERS GOT IF AMBASSADORS WANT TO GO BACK AND CHANGE THE WAY DID FORMULA THERE, IT'S UP TO THE TEACHERS. IT'S UP TO THE LEADERS, AND THAT'S GOING TO BE PUT OUT FOR A SURVEY AND FOR FEEDBACK. WHO ARE THE AMBASSADORS? AND HOW ARE THEY? ONE TEACHER PER CAMPUS. THANK YOU. ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS.
HYSTERIC. I JUST WANT TO ASK CLARIFYING QUESTION ABOUT THE PAYMENTS AND I'M SURE THIS HAS
[01:10:07]
BEEN COVERED. BUT JUST FOR PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE, THESE TEACHERS THAT JUST GOT PAID OUT AND AUGUST BECAUSE THEY QUALIFIED AT ONE OF THE THREE LEVELS. IS THAT NOW A YEARLY PAYMENT OR WAS THAT A ONE TIME PAYMENT? IT'S A YEARLY PAYMENT, AND THEN THEY HAVE TO USE TO REDESIGNATED IN FIVE YEARS. CORRECT DURING THOSE FIVE YEARS DO THEY HAVE TO DO ANYTHING MORE WITH HAVING THE STEPS THAT THEY HAD TO TAKE WITH THE ASSESSMENTS EVALUATIONS. ALL OF THAT, ARE THEY HAVING TO DO ANY OF THAT THEY AS SO AS LONG AS TO REMAIN WITHIN THE SYSTEM. YOU HAVE TO BE ASSIGNED AS A AS A CLASSROOM TEACHER, CODED 087 YOU AND THAT'S PRETTY MUCH IT. YOU HAVE TO BE TEACHING MORE THAN 50% OF THE TIME AND THEN FIVE YEARS THEY GO THROUGH ALL THE STEPS AGAIN. THAT'S CORRECT.THANK YOU. THANK YOU, DR DELAROSA. OUR NEXT AGENDA ITEM IS FORESEE BUDGET UPDATE MR GARRE. THANK YOU, PRESIDENT HATFIELD. SO IT'S REALLY MY PLEASURE TONIGHT TO BE ABLE TO INTRODUCE THIS LADY TWICE IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS, AS YOU ALL KNOW, AT THE CEREMONY, THE SERVICE AWARDS CEREMONY LAST WEEK. UM SHE WAS RECOGNIZED FOR COMPLETING 10 CONSECUTIVE YEARS OF SERVICE WITH THE DISTRICT. AND IT REALLY IS AN HONOR TO HAVE HER ON OUR TEAM. YOU KNOW, SHE'S SHE'S A HER JOB IS REALLY VITAL TO THE DISTRICT. AS YOU KNOW, SHE PAYS EVERYONE AND SHE'S RESPONSIBLE FOR IT ALL. SO SHE WORKS A LOT OF TIRELESS HOURS AND SHE'S I CAN TELL YOU FROM FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE. SHE'S THE FIRST ONE AT WORK EVERY DAY BECAUSE SHE BEATS ME TO WORK.
BUT SHE'S ALWAYS HERE AND UM YOU KNOW, HER DEPARTMENT IS ONE OF THE MOST HEAVILY AUDITED DEPARTMENTS THAT WE HAVE IN THE ENTIRE DISTRICT. BUT NOT JUST COME FOUR TIMES A YEAR, SO EVERYTHING SHE DOES HAS THE GOOD HAS TO BE REALLY PRECISE, REALLY ACCURATE BECAUSE IT'S ALL SCRUTINIZE, SO WE WANTED HER TO COME TONIGHT. KIND OF INTRODUCE HERSELF, EVEN THOUGH SHE DOESN'T WANT TO INTRODUCE HER TEAM KIND OF TELL YOU WHAT THE PAYROLL DEPARTMENT DOES. SO THIS IS MISS REBECCA MCDOWELL. THANK YOU. GOOD EVENING, DR ELDERS, PRESIDENT HATFIELD AND BOARD MEMBERS. SO TONIGHT I'M HERE REPRESENTING THE PAYROLL BENEFIT DEPARTMENT. SO FIRST OF ALL, I'M GOING TO JUST INTRODUCE YOU TO THE DEPARTMENT AND PUT SOME VICES BEHIND THE PAYROLL TEAM.
WE DO HAVE A TEAM OF SEVEN. THESE LADIES WORKED TIRELESSLY BEHIND THE SCENES TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR EMPLOYEES ARE PAID ACCURATELY AND TIMELY. AND THEN LET'S INTRODUCE THE BENEFIT RISK MANAGEMENT TEAM UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF KIM GRAHAM, THESE ARE LADIES ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT OUR EMPLOYEES AND OUR BUILDINGS ARE SAFE. SO WE ARE HERE TO MAKE SURE THAT, UM, THOSE THAT ARE WORKING WITH THE STUDENTS EACH DAY SUCH AS OUR TEACHERS, OUR BUS DRIVERS AND CUSTODIANS, LUNCH. LADIES CAN TAKE CARE OF THE STUDENTS AND BE CONFIDENT THAT THEIR PAYCHECKS ARE GOING TO THEIR ACCOUNTS ON PAYDAY WITHOUT THEM WORRYING. UM SO LET'S TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT PAYROLL. WE DO PROCESS. NINE PAYCHECK PAYROLLS EACH MONTH. WE HAVE TO PASTE, BRO. CIRCLES WE HAVE SEEN THE MONTHLY AND MONTHLY ARE SEMI MONTHLY OR ARE AUXILIARY STAFF THAT ARE PAID HOURLY. THEY GET PAID ON THE 11TH AND THE 26TH OF THE MONTH, AND THAT'S LIKE OUR CUSTODIAL MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT. CITY NUTRITION TRANSPORTATION. AND THEN WE HAVE OUR OTHER EMPLOYEES THAT GET PAID MONTHLY ON THE 20TH OF THE MONTH. THOSE ARE OUR TEACHERS ARE PARAPROFESSIONALS ARE SUBSTITUTES AND OUR ADMINISTRATORS WE DO PAY OVER 4000 EMPLOYEES EACH MONTH. WE ONBOARD ABOUT 700 NEW HOUSE EACH YEAR WE PROCESS MANY TRANSFERS AND MANY SEPARATIONS. WE DO A LOT OF EXTRA DUTY PAY EXTRA DUTY PAY IS OUR TEACHERS THAT DO EXTRA DUTY AFTER WORK COULD BE TUTORING COULD BE WORKING GAMES. WE HAVE A LOT OF TEACHERS AND PARAPROFESSIONALS THAT WORK GAMES. WE JUST SATURDAY SCHOOLS. WE DO A LOT OF DIFFERENT EVENTS THAT REQUIRE EXTRA PAY. WE AWARD IN MAINTAIN ALL LEAVE IN THE DISTRICT. WE MONITOR AND EDIT ALL THE TIME CARDS. WE MANAGED THE FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE. WE ALSO MAINTAIN ACCOUNT CODING FOR ALL THE PCS AND STOPPING WE PROCESS LIABILITY PAYMENTS, AND THESE ARE DEDUCTIONS THAT COME FROM OUR EMPLOYEES CHECKS THAT WE MAKE SURE YOU GET TO THE APPROPRIATE VENDORS LIKE CHILD SUPPORT, STUDENT LOANS, HEALTH INSURANCE AND SO FORTH. UM WE VERIFY EMPLOYMENT. SO ANY OUR EMPLOYEES THAT GET NEW CARS, NEW HOMES, ALL OF THOSE VERIFICATIONS COME TO US. WE DO MAKE QUARTERLY, UM RS PAYMENTS AND REPORTS. WE PROCESS ALL W FOUR W TWO S. I MEAN, WE DID ABOUT 4500 LAST YEAR. WE DO REPORT TO THE TEACHER RETIREMENT SYSTEM. THIS IS A LARGE PORTION OF OUR JOB. EVERY EMPLOYEE IN OUR DISTRICT DOES GET REPORTED TO THE TEACHER RETIREMENT SYSTEM, EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT A MEMBER OF THE TEACHER RETIREMENT SYSTEM, SO WE DO REPORT ALL EMPLOYEES, INCLUDING ACCEPTED, TOOTS. UM, WE WERE WE REPORT THEIR POSITION HOW MANY HOURS THEY WORK EACH MONTH. HOW MANY
[01:15:03]
DAYS THEY WORK EACH MONTH HOW MUCH MONEY THEY MIGHT WORK EACH MONTH. SO THIS IS A MONTHLY REPORT THAT WE DO EACH MONTH. WE DO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO EXTRA PAYROLLS. THE T. I WAS ONE THAT WE JUST DISCUSSED. WE DID THAT IN AUGUST. WE'RE FIXING TO DO THE YEARS OF SERVICE PAYROLL IN DECEMBER, AND THOSE ARE THE ONES THAT WERE AWARDED LAST WEEK AT THE AWARDS CEREMONY. WE DO DID RETENTION PAY BACK IN AUGUST , AND WE DO SOME ATTENDANCE INCENTIVES. SO UM, SALARY AND BENEFITS IS ABOUT 85% OF OUR BUDGET. WE WANTED TO JUST GO OVER A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHERE WE'VE BEEN THE LAST THREE YEARS. SO IN 2021 WE PAID OUT ABOUT 207 MILLION IN SALARY. 2122 WE PAID 219 MILLION AND THEN THIS LAST YEAR, WE PAID 235 MILLION AND YOU CAN KIND OF SEE THE INCREASE WITH THE RAISED AMOUNTS BELOW. IT'S JUST GOT A STEADY INCREASE. THE SAME WITH BENEFITS AND WHEN WE'RE TALKING BENEFITS ON THIS LEVEL, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT DISTRICT PAID, NON NEGOTIABLE BENEFITS. THIS IS LIKE MEDICARE THAT WE PAY ON BEHALF OF EMPLOYEES, THE TEACHER RETIREMENT BENEFITS THAT WE MATCH AND PAY ADDITIONAL AMOUNT. WE ALSO PAY $350 FOR EACH EMPLOYEE. UM TOWARDS THEIR HEALTH INSURANCE EACH MONTH. SO WHEN WE'RE TALKING BENEFITS HERE, THIS IS, UM THOSE NON NEGOTIABLE BENEFITS. OVERTIME AND EXTRA HOURS. WE HAVE HAD A STEADY INCREASE OF THAT AS WELL. YOU CAN SEE INTO 2020 21 2020 21 . IT WAS ONE POINT 5,000,021 22 LITTLE OVER 2 MILLION AND THIS PAST YEAR WAS 2.6 BILLION. SO LET'S TALK ABOUT EMPLOYEE ABSENCES. SO YOU CAN SEE THAT THE ABSENCES KIND OF HOLD STEADY . WE HAD STARTED OFF THE COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AT 68,000 ABSENCES IN OUR DISTRICT FOR A YEAR. THIS PAST YEAR WE HAD 73,000 ABSENCES. SO A NORMAL SCHOOL YEAR FOR OUR TEACHERS IS 187 DAYS WE DO AWARD FIVE LOCAL DAYS AND FIVE DAYS STATE DAYS EACH YEAR. THESE ARE DAYS THAT THEY COULD BE PAID FOR THAT THEY CAN BE ABSENT AT THEIR DISCRETION. UM FOR THOSE THAT DON'T USE THOSE DAYS OR HEAVILY UNUSED DAYS. THEY DO ROLL TO THE NEXT YEAR AND BEGIN TO ACCUMULATE. SO IF WE HAVE EMPLOYEES THAT HAVE GONE THROUGH ALL OF THEIR LEAVE, AND ALL OF YOUR ACCUMULATED LEAVE, WE DO AND THEN CONTINUE TO BE ABSENT. WE DO HAVE TO DOCK. SO IN 2021. WE TALKED ABOUT A MILLION DOLLARS 2122. WE DOCKED 1.4 MILLION, AND THIS PAST YEAR WE DOCKED AT 1.8 BILLION FOR EXCESSIVE ABSENCES.AND SO THEN LET'S TALK ABOUT THE REASONS ARE POISED OR ABSENCE. SO IN JUST LAST YEAR, THE 2223 SCHOOL YEAR THE MAJORITY OF OUR ABSENCES WERE FOR ILLNESS OF EMPLOYEES, AND IT WAS ABOUT 32% WE ALSO HAD PERSONAL BUSINESS ABSENCES, WHICH IS THE YELLOW 27% AND THEN WE HAD SOME PROFESSIONAL ABSENCES, AND THAT IS INCLUDING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND AUTHORIZE ICAL BUSINESS, WHICH IS ABOUT 13% SO LET'S TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT BENEFIT AND THE RISK MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES. SO BENEFITING SPANISH, BUT DEPARTMENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EMPLOYEE BENEFIT AND RETIREMENT PLANS. THEY OFFER 24 EMPLOYEE BENEFITS. AND THEY DEDUCTED AVERAGE OF 3200 BENEFITS FROM EMPLOYEES PAY , WHICH IS CLOSE TO ABOUT $7 MILLION ANNUALLY. EMPLOYEE WELLNESS. UM YOU KNOW, I JUST SPOKE IN THE PREVIOUS SLIDE ABOUT HOW OUR EMPLOYEES WERE ABSENT A LOT FOR PERSONAL ILLNESS. SO KIM AND HER TEAM TRULY PRIORITIZE THEIR EMPLOYEES HEALTH BY OFFERING IMMUNIZATION CLINICS ACROSS OUR DISTRICT SO THEY CAN GO AND GET FLU SHOTS.
COVID SHOTS, SHINGLE SHOTS, UM DIFFERENT TYPES OF IMMUNIZATION ON THEIR CAMPUS SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO LEAVE. TO KEEP THEM WELL. YEAH. THEY ALSO OFFER MAINTAIN THE STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE, PROPERTY AND LIABILITY INSURANCE. WE ENSURE NEARLY 1.2 BILLION IN PHYSICAL PROPERTY, AND THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE, UM THE VEHICLE FLEET. WE INVESTIGATING PROCESS CLAIMS FOR 47 VEHICLE ACCIDENTS THIS PAST YEAR THEY MAINTAIN ALL DRIVERS LICENSING THROUGH THE N P R N D O T. THEY MANAGED OVER THEY MANAGED OVER 550 D, O T AND 90 OT MEDICAL EXAMS, DRUG TESTS AND PRE EMPLOYMENT TESTS AS WELL AS ANNUAL AND RETURN TO WORK TEST. AND THEN JUST ON A HAPPY NOTE. WE HAD 100 AND EIGHT BABIES BORN LAST YEAR, WHICH KIND OF ACCOUNTED FOR SOME OF THOSE ABSENCES. ONE LAST LOOK AT OUR BENEFIT PAYROLL TEAM, AND THIS IS THE GREATEST TEAM. I'M SO HAPPY TO BE A PART OF IT. ANY QUESTIONS? THANK YOU, MISS MCDOWELL. I DON'T BELIEVE WE'VE EVER HAD A PRESENTATION LIKE THIS BEFORE FROM YOUR DEPARTMENT. FROM WHAT I REMEMBER. SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH AS VERY ENLIGHTENING BOARD MEMBERS. DO YOU HAVE ANY
[01:20:02]
QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? TOMATOES. UM DO YOU REALLY USE TIMECARDS? WE DO TIMECARDS THAT WE DO ABOUT 30,000 A MONTH SO THAT BUT THAT'S NOT THE OLD FASHIONED. WE DO HAVE CHAOS WHERE THEY SUCKING IT OUT. BUT WE DO REVIEW THOSE EACH ONE. OKAY I'M DATING MYSELF , BUT I DON'T. I GIGGLED BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT ABOUT RIGHT LINING UP THE DATE. AND WHAT ABOUT OVER TIME? WHAT IS IT? LACK OF STAFF OR ARE OVER TIME INCREASE. WELL WE ARE WORKING ON THE OVERTIME SITUATION. THERE IS A LOT OF REASONS FOR THAT. LARRY MAY WANT TO SPEAK TO THAT. NO. YES YEAH.YEAH, THEY'RE LIKE I SAID, WE'RE THE MAIN DEPARTMENTS ARE THERE'S AT SOME 0.25% VACANCY, SO THAT ACCOUNTS FOR A LOT OF THE OVERTIME, A TBS ANOTHER THING WHERE ALL THE TEACHERS ARE WORKING FOR ATB AFTER SCHOOL, SO THAT IS PART OF THE OVERTIME AS WELL. BUT WE ARE GETTING ALL THE DATA TOGETHER AND WE'RE GOING TO HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS FOR Y'ALL. WE'RE GOING TO PUT IT IN THE AND A BOARD MEMBER COMING SOON TO ALL OF YOU. OKAY GREAT. THANK YOU. AND THEN LAST WHEN HE MENTIONED THE SHINGLES SHOT, DO WE HAVE ABSENCES DUE TO SHINGLES? I CAN'T ANSWER THAT.
JUST OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD, BUT I'M SURE WE DO. OKAY JUST CURIOUS. THANK YOU. GREAT REPORT. THANK YOU, MA'AM. ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS BOARD MEMBERS. MISS MCDOWELL. I BELIEVE I SEE SOME MEMBERS OF YOUR TEAM IN THE ROOM FROM THE PICTURE, SO I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO YOUR TEAM. ALSO SINCE, ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY'RE HERE, THEY MIGHT BE LISTENING.
SO WE REALLY APPRECIATE EVERYTHING YOU ALL DO. AND THE HARD WORK THAT YOU ALL PUT FORWARD. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. AND MR GARY, I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING MORE ABOUT THE OVERTIME AND EXTRA HOURS BECAUSE THAT IS A LARGE CHUNK OF FUNDS. GOING IN THE INCREASE. UM AND SO I LOOK FORWARD TO GETTING MORE INFORMATION ON THAT. YES, MA'AM. ABSOLUTELY. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MR MCDOWELL. THE NEXT AGENDA ITEM IS FOR D. ENROLLMENT AND ATTENDANCE. DOCTOR HAMLIN.
DR ELDRIDGE, MISS HATFIELD, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. DEFINITELY APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO COME AND GIVE YOU OUR MONTHLY I'LL SAY MONTHLY ATTENDANCE AND ENROLLMENT UPDATE. I ALWAYS WANT TO START OFF EARLY BY THE THINGS THAT WE'RE REALLY TRYING TO FOCUS ON IN STUDENT SERVICES TODAY, ONE CULTURE. CONSTRUCTION AND SYSTEMS. IT'S EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR US WHILE WE WERE.
WE ARE REBRANDING STUDENT SERVICES THAT WE MAKE SURE THAT WE PROVIDE HIGH LEVEL POSITIVE CULTURE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR OUR FAMILIES AND OUR STAFF. UH, THIS YEAR. WE'RE REALLY LOOKING TO CREATE SOME NEW OPPORTUNITIES AND ENROLLMENT. AND ATTENDANCE. AND LAST MONTH WE DID SHARE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR NEW ATTENDANCE PLAN. WE'RE ALSO DOING THE SAME THING WITH A NEW ENROLLMENT PLAN. UH WE ALSO FOCUS OBVIOUSLY ON THREAT ASSESSMENTS, DISCIPLINE INTERVENTION AND OUR STUDENT BORN EXCHANGE PROGRAM. LAST MONTH. WE SHARED THAT WE HAD A GOAL THAT WE WANT TO SET THIS YEAR TO INCREASE OUR AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE BY 1. LAST YEAR , USING THAT AS A BASELINE THAT 92.7% OUR GOAL THIS YEAR IS TO HAVE TO REACH 93.7% AT THE END OF THE YEAR. WE ALSO TALKED ABOUT, UH WITHIN THE NEW PLAN. WE KIND OF IDENTIFIED TWO GROUPS . UH WE HAD 75% OF OUR KIDS THAT WERE CONSIDERED EXCEPTIONAL AND GOOD ATTENDEES, MEANING THEY WERE HERE 91% OR MORE THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR, AND THEN WE HAD THAT ROLE CONCERN WHEN WE HAD 25% OF OUR KIDS THAT FELL INTO THAT CHRONIC AND SEVERE CHRONIC. ATTENDANCE PHASE AND THOSE ARE THE KIDS THAT ARE ABSENT. 90% ARE MORE THAN 90% ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU GET DOWN CLOSER TO THE 80% OF THE TIME FOR THOSE KIDS THAT OR THAT SEVERE CHRONIC CATEGORY. WHAT WE WANT TO DO IS PROVIDES SOME POSITIVE RESULTS SO FAR, YOU KNOW, WE HAD OUR ATTENDANCE AWARENESS MONTH AND YOU KNOW, WE'RE NOT GOING TO JUST KEEP IT TO SEPTEMBER. WE'RE GOING TO DO THIS BASICALLY EVERY MONTH WITH OUR PRINCIPLES AND OUR TEACHERS AND OUR STUDENTS. UH, BUT LOOKING SO FAR THIS YEAR THROUGH TWO REPORTING PERIODS FOR ATTENDANCE. WE ARE CURRENTLY SITTING AT 88% OF OUR STUDENTS THAT ARE HERE MORE THAN 90% OF THE TIME, OBVIOUSLY, SO THAT'S 13% HIGHER THAN IT WAS LAST YEAR WITH A BIG DECREASE IN THE SEVERE AND THE CHRONIC PHASES AS YOU CAN SEE WHAT AT 12% SO
[01:25:08]
THAT'S A CELEBRATION. OBVIOUSLY WE'RE GONNA HAVE MORE PLACES AS WE GET INTO FLU SEASON. WE'RE ALREADY HERE. WE'RE STARTING TO SEE AN UPTICK IN SOME COVID CASES AS WELL. UH BUT WE'RE REALLY GONNA FOCUS AND TRY TO KEEP THOSE NUMBERS DOWN IN THAT CHRONIC AND SEVERE CHRONIC AREAS. THIS SLIDE HERE TO ME IS A REASON TO CELEBRATE. AND IF YOU LOOK AT THE GREAT COLUMNS, THOSE GREAT COLUMNS REPRESENT THE THREE REPORTING PERIODS FOR ATTENDANCE LAST YEAR 2223 AND THIS IS BASED ON OUR SUB POPS, EACH ETHNICITY AND WITHIN OUR DISTRICT. AS YOU CAN SEE, UH, LOOKING AT THE 2223 SCHOOL YEAR EACH REPORTING PERIOD. THE ATTENDANCE. DECLINED. IT DOESN'T MATTER. WHAT'S THE PUPPY? LOOK AT EACH. REPORTING PERIOD WE HAD WE HAD A DECREASE IN ATTENDANCE FOR OUR KIDS. AND I THINK IF YOU REMEMBER LAST MONTH I TALKED ABOUT WHEN YOU LOOK AT OUR ATTENDANCE RATE. IN AUGUST. WE TYPICALLY LOSE ABOUT 2% BY THE TIME WE GET TO MAY AND THAT'S KIND OF SHOWS HERE ON THIS CHART HERE. BUT IF YOU LOOK AT THIS YEAR SO FAR ARE 2324 AND YOU LOOK AT OUR FIRST TWO REPORTING PERIODS. YOU SEE AN INCREASE IN EVERY SUB PROBLEMS. MEANING MORE KIDS ARE KIDS ARE COMING TO SCHOOL AT A HIGHER RATE THAN THEY WERE LAST YEAR. WHICH IS A HUGE HUGE ON THE BACK FOR OUR TEACHERS AND OUR PRINCIPLES BECAUSE THEY'RE REALLY DOING WHAT THEY NEED TO DO TO CONTINUE TO REACH OUT TO OUR FAMILIES AND GET OUR KIDS IN SCHOOL. SO THIS TO ME IS A HUGE CELEBRATION. AND WHAT WAS OUR GOAL? REMEMBER? 93.7 THIS YEAR AND RIGHT NOW WE'RE AT 95.7. WE ALSO HAD SOME QUESTIONS LAST MONTH ABOUT GRADE LEVELS. ONCE AGAIN SAME BASIC CHART. GREAT REPRESENTS THE 2223 SCHOOL YEAR FOR EACH REPORTING PERIOD. BUT THIS IS BY GRADE LEVEL ACROSS THE ENTIRE DISTRICT. ONCE AGAIN. IF YOU LOOK LAST YEAR, EACH GRADE LEVEL SHOWED A DECREASE FROM EACH REPORTING PERIOD. COMPARED TO THIS YEAR. WE SEE AN INCREASE.FOR EACH GRADE LEVEL. IN EIGHT REPORTING PERIOD. SO THIS IS SOMETHING THAT'S EXTREMELY POSITIVE. IT'S GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. IT'S A TREND THAT WE WANT TO CONTINUE. NOW THIS NEXT SLIDE IS ABOUT AND ROLL MINT. AND WE TALKED ABOUT YOU KNOW WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE 2223 SCHOOL YEAR COMPARED TO THE 2324 SCHOOL YEAR. I DON'T WANT ANYONE TO GET CAUGHT UP ON GOING STRAIGHT ACROSS AN EXAMPLE IS LIKE FIRST GRADE. 2223 WE HAD 2009 1ST GRADERS. AND THEN YOU LOOK OVER. AT 2223, AND WE HAVE 1904 1ST GRADERS. WELL THAT SECOND COLUMN REALLY. WE NEED TO FOCUS ON OUR FIRST GRADERS MOVING TO SECOND GRADE. SO EACH GRADE LEVEL YOU NEED TO LOOK DOWN TO THE NEXT GRADE LEVEL TO SEE IF WE ARE RETAINING THOSE TYPES. THERE WERE THOSE STUDENTS. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THAT THAT FIRST ONE THAT'S HIGHLIGHTED IN ORANGE AND 2022 23 LAST YEAR 2009 1ST GRADERS, AND IN THIS YEAR THOSE FIRST GREATEST RESULTED IN 1943 2ND GRADERS. DOES THAT MEAN? THAT DIFFERENCE THOSE KIDS MOVED. NO, NOT NECESSARILY. SOME DID. BUT FIRST GRADE AND SECOND GRADE WE HAVE SOME RETENTION REGARDING, UH, READING LEVELS. PERFORMANCE.
SAME THING WITH THIRD GRADE. THAT'S WHEN STAR SCORES KICK IN. AND SO THERE'S SOME RETENTION THERE AS WELL. SO THAT'S WHERE YOU SEE SOME OF THOSE DIFFERENT. I'M NOT SAYING WE RETAINED ALL THOSE KIDS. SOME MOVED SEVEN DIDN'T AND THEN WE HAD THAT BIG CONCERN AND I KNOW MISS HER.
BOCEK HAS TALKED TO US ABOUT THIS THIS BIG GAP FROM FIFTH GRADE GOING TO SIXTH GRADE. WE DIDN'T HAVE 168 RETENTIONS OF FIFTH GRADERS GOING TO SIXTH GRADE, BUT WE DO HAVE A CONCERN THAT OUR FIFTH GRADERS ARE NOT COMING TO OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS. UH AND THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WE'RE REALLY GOING TO FOCUS ON. WELL I'VE ALREADY TALKED WITH DR ELDREDGE. WE'RE REALLY GOING TO CREATE AND WORK WITH OUR PRINCIPLES AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL AS WELL AS OBVIOUSLY THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL, AND WE'VE GOT TO REALLY ADDRESS OUR STUDENTS NOT COMING TO FIFTH GRADE. NOW ONCE WE GET THEM INTO MIDDLE SCHOOL, AS YOU CAN SEE, SIXTH GRADERS LAST YEAR. UH, MOVING TO SEVENTH GRADE. THEY STAYED. TRYING TO KID DIFFERENCE. UH OUR EIGHTH GRADERS OR SEVENTH GRADERS. THEY STAYED. AH! NOT GOING TO REALLY TALK A WHOLE LOT ABOUT NINTH GRADE THROUGH 10TH OR 12TH GRADE, BECAUSE THAT'S REALLY YOU SEE THOSE BIG NUMBERS. THERE'S A BIG DIFFERENCE IT REALLY WHEN YOU GET TO HIGH SCHOOL, IT'S ALL ABOUT CLASSIFICATION. BASED ON
[01:30:03]
THE NUMBER OF CREDITS THEY HAVE. SO YOU SEE THAT NINTH GRADE. WE HAVE A LOT OF KIDS THAT DIDN'T GET THE CREDIT. THEY NEEDED TO GO TO 10TH GRADE, BUT THEY USUALLY RECAPTURE THOSE THROUGHOUT THE WHEN WE RECLASSIFY SEMESTER, THEN THOSE NUMBERS CHANGE. BUT OUR REAL CONCERN IS REALLY MAKING SURE THAT WE UNDERSTAND THAT, UH YOU KNOW, IT'S NOT JUST GREAT LEVEL COHORT COHORT. IT'S REALLY THAT NEXT GRADE LEVEL, YOU WANT TO SEE HOW MANY KIDS WE GAINED OR WE'VE LOST. NOW THIS CHART TO ME IS EXTREMELY EXCITING. THERE'S SOME POSITIVITY HERE, BUT THERE'S ALSO SOME HIGH LEVELS OF CONCERN. IF WE'RE GOING TO BE 100% TRANSPARENT. YOU SEE, THE BLUE COLUMNS ARE THE STUDENTS THAT TRANSFER INTO OUR DISTRICT. THEY DO NOT LIVE IN CFB. SO WE HAVE A THREE YEAR PATTERN 12 AROUND 1200 KIDS TO 1400 KIDS THIS PAST SCHOOL YEAR WE HAD 1247 KIDS THAT LIVE IN ANOTHER DISTRICT. THEY'VE TRANSFERRED INTO OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT. AND THEN YOU SEE THE RED. THE RED, ESPECIALLY, WE'LL TALK ABOUT THIS PAST SCHOOL YEAR. 4658 STUDENTS LIVE IN CFB. BUT THEY'RE NOT GOING TO OUR SCHOOLS. THAT'S A HUGE CONCERN.AH AND THEN WE ASK. WHERE ARE THEY GOING? THIS CHART HERE. ALLOWS THIS KIND OF SEE WHERE THESE KIDS ARE GOING. THESE ARE PRIVATE SCHOOLS AND CHARTER SCHOOLS THAT OUR KIDS ARE GOING TO WE HAD THAT THREE YEAR COMPARISON. AS YOU CAN SEE, THE BIG HITTER REALLY IS THE UNIVERSAL ACADEMY. THEY'VE HAD. BASKETBALL YOUR 905. WE HAVE UPLIFT. THEY'RE ALWAYS RANGING RIGHT AROUND THAT 700 STUDENTS, UH EACH YEAR THIS PAST YEAR SEVEN AND 83. AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE THE TEXAS COLLEGE PREP. WHICH IS ACTUALLY IT'S A LARGER ORGANIZATION. THERE ARE SEVERAL ALL AROUND US, BUT THE ONE RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM THEM AND SMITH WOULD FALL INTO THAT CATEGORY. UH, SO IT'S REALLY ABOUT THESE KIDS THAT ARE GO INTO THOSE PRIVATE SCHOOLS. BUT WHAT WE DO NOW AND WHAT THIS CHART REALLY DOESN'T SHOW BECAUSE I KNOW WE HAD A MEETING TODAY WITH OUR A P S LAST WEEK WITH OUR PRINCIPLES. THIS WAS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR. A LOT OF IT. A LOT OF THESE KIDS ARE COMING BACK. BECAUSE WHAT WE DO KNOW IS THERE IS NOT A PRIVATE SCHOOL OR CHARGED CAN OFFER WHAT PUBLIC SCHOOL OFFERS. AND WAS HE AT THE OFFERS. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT. THERE IS NO SUPPORTED ACADEMIC DOCUMENTATION THAT SHOWS THAT PRIVATE SCHOOL IN CHARGE SCHOOLS OUTPERFORMING PUBLIC SCHOOLS, ESPECIALLY C F B I S D. I LOVE DATA. AND NOW. WITH ATTENDANCE, ATTENDANCE AND I LOVE THE TENNIS DATA. UH AND WHEN YOU START THROWING NUMBERS AT ME, I'M ALWAYS GOING TO LOOK AT OTHER THINGS THAT WE NEED TO APPROXIMATELY. CONSIDER AND LOOK AT AND SO THIS IS ONE REASON WHY THE WOMAN MOBILITY RATE AT OUR SCHOOLS ARE GOING TO BE SHOWN HERE TONIGHT BECAUSE I BELIEVE IT'S DIRECTLY TIED WITH NOT ONLY OUR ENROLLMENT, BUT IT'S TIED TO OUR ATTENDANCE. AND THAT ATTENDANCE PLAN WE TALKED ABOUT.
WE HAVE TO CREATE WAYS TO ELIMINATE BARRIERS THAT OUR STUDENTS FACE, ESPECIALLY IN SOME OF THESE CATEGORIES. WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT. NOW MIDDLE SCHOOL. YOU SEE, I HAVE TWO CAMPUSES THAT ARE HIGHLIGHTED RED. THESE TWO CAMPUSES ARE CONCERNED REGARDING MOBILITY, RIGHT? WE HIGHLIGHTED ANYTHING THAT WAS OVER 20. LONG HAS BEEN THERE FOR A LONG TIME. AS WELL AS BUSH. AND UH, SO YOU SEE THAT BUSH IS PROBABLY THAT IT IS THE HIGHEST ONE THAT WE HAVE IN OUR DISTRICT MIDDLE SCHOOL WISE, THEY AVERAGE ANYWHERE FROM 27 TO 28 29% MOBILITY RATE EACH SCHOOL YEAR. HIGH SCHOOL. YOU SEE THAT RANCH VIEW IS THE ONE HIGH SCHOOL THAT IS OVER 20% EACH SCHOOL YEAR. SO WE HAVE BUSH. WE HAVE RANCH VIEW. WE HAVE WEST SIDE. BUT YOU DO SEE SOME GREEN THERE WHICH SHOWS THAT WE HAVE, UH, SEVERAL OF OUR HIGH SCHOOLS THAT ARE GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. THEY'RE REDUCING THEIR MOBILITY RATE. THESE ARE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. NOT ALL HAVE ANOTHER SLIDE. THAT'S GOING TO SHOW SOME HERE IN A FEW SECONDS. BUT THIS THIS REALLY WOULD I WOULD CONSIDER A MONITOR GROUP. NONE OF THESE ARE OVER 20. BUT WE'RE ALWAYS GOING TO LOOK AT THEM AND SEE EXACTLY, YOU KNOW. IF THEY'RE GOING UP, GOING DOWN AND ANYTHING THAT WE NEED TO DO TO HELP THESE CAMPUSES OUT. NOW. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY OUR FOCUS GROUP. UH AND WE'RE REALLY GONNA
[01:35:02]
ONCE AGAIN TIE INTO THE WEST SIDE. YOU LOOK AT LANDRY AVERAGES OVER 30% RIVER CHASE ALL OF THESE AVERAGE OVER 30. SHEFFIELD FREEMAN MCWHORTER IN LA VITA LA VITA. WE HAVE FAMILIES GOING BACK AND FORTH. AH AND YOU KNOW IT. YOU SEE SOME POSITIVITY AND SOME GREEN THERE AND SOME OF THE CAMPUSES. BUT WHAT WE'RE HOPING TO DO AND WHAT WE ARE GOING TO FOCUS ON WITHIN STUDENT SERVICES. IS WHEN WE LOOK AT THAT MOBILITY. I'M SORRY THAT ATTENDANCE PLAN THAT WE'VE CREATED AND WE WORKED WITH OUR PRINCIPLES ON WE'RE GOING TO DIRECTLY TIE SOME SUPPORT. UH WITHIN THAT PLAN TO THESE CAMPUSES WHEN WE TALK ABOUT THOSE FIVE THE TOOLKIT AND OUR FIVE FOCUS ACTION OUT ITEMS THAT WE CAN HAVE MONITORING INTO A STUDENT ATTENDANCE. HOW WE'RE GOING TO RECOGNIZE THOSE STUDENTS THAT ARE EXCEPTIONAL OR TENDERS AND GOOD ATTENDERS, HOW WE'RE GOING TO HAVE THAT OUTREACH TO OUR PARENTS HOW WE'RE GOING TO REMOVE BARRIERS, WHETHER IT'S TRANSPORTATION, WHETHER IT'S UH, RENT RENTAL ASSISTANCE. WE'VE GOT TO DO THINGS TO GO OUT AND TRY TO HELP OUR FAMILIES MAKE CONNECTIONS. AND WHEN WE TALK ABOUT HELPING FAMILIES AND OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR METRO CREST AND SOME MEMBER OTHER PARTNERS, WE'VE GOT TO HAVE AN ACTIVE APPROACH TO HELP THESE FAMILIES TO WHERE THEY CAN STAY BECAUSE WE KNOW THE MORE MOBILE. OUR FAMILIES ARE THE LESS SUCCESSFUL THOSE KIDS ARE ACADEMICALLY AND WE'VE GOT TO SEE IF WE CAN KEEP THEM. IN OUR SCHOOLS AND PREFERABLY IN ONE SCHOOL. AS A FORMER PRINCIPAL ON THE WEST SIDE AT LANDRY. UH I WOULD HAVE FAMILIES MOVE THREE OR FOUR TIMES WITHIN THE SAME SCHOOL YEAR. THEY'D LEAVE US AND COME BACK A MONTH LATER OR TWO. THEY LEAVE US AGAIN AND THEY COME BACK. WE'VE GOT WE'VE GOT TO DO SOMETHING TO HELP THEM STAY, AND THAT'S GONNA BE A FOCUS OF STUDENT SERVICES THIS NEXT COMING YEAR. AND THIS SLIDE HERE IS REALLY REPRESENTS ARE THE HISTORICAL SNAPSHOT IN ROMAN COUNTS RIGHT NOW THIS YEAR WHERE 24,500 HONOR SNAPSHOT DATE, WHICH WAS THE LAST FRIDAY OF OCTOBER. ONCE AGAIN TRUE TRANSPARENCY. WE'VE LOST SEVERAL KIDS THIS PAST WEEK. SINCE FRIDAY, AND TODAY'S ONLY THURSDAY WHERE I THINK WE'RE DOWN TO 24,476 AS OF TODAY. UH AND THAT NUMBER IS PROBABLY GONNA GO DOWN A LITTLE BIT MORE BECAUSE WE ARE DOING A LOT OF VERY PROACTIVE THINGS NOW REGARDING STUDENTS THAT WE HAVE ON OUR BOOKS THAT ARE NOT COMING TO SCHOOL, AND SO WE'VE GOT TO REALLY LOOK AT THOSE STUDENTS AND PER OUR POLICY. ANYONE THAT'S ABSENT 10 OR MORE CONSECUTIVE DAYS. WE'VE GOT TO FIND OUT WHERE THEY ARE THROUGH. NOT ONLY PHONE CALLS BUT HOME VISITS, SO WE'RE EXPECTING SOME SOME OF THAT NUMBER TO GO DOWN JUST A LITTLE BIT, BUT WE'RE TRYING TO RECAPTURE THOSE KIDS.UH, A CELEBRATION HERE I THINK IS THAT YOU CAN SEE OUR NUMBERS WENT ANYWHERE FROM WE HAVEN'T RECOVERED FROM COVID YET, BUT THAT 25,600 TO 24,500 TODAY. IF YOU GO TO YEAR TO YEAR WE'RE RETAINING ABOUT 98% OF OUR KIDS EACH YEAR. THAT'S A CELEBRATION. ESPECIALLY IF YOU WANT TO COMPARE US TO OTHER DISTRICTS AROUND US. WE'RE RIGHT NOW ABOUT 1.5 TO 1.7% DECREASE FROM LAST YEAR. MANY DISTRICTS AROUND US ARE AT 4% 6% IF YOU LOOK AT SOME DISTRICTS THAT WERE 87,000 STUDENTS PRIOR TO COVID. NOW THEY HAVE 70,000 STUDENTS, SO THERE ARE SOME DISTRICTS THAT HAVE REALLY BEEN HIT HARD WITH THIS. UH AND LOSING 1.7% DOES HURT, BUT WE'RE DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO RETAIN OUR KIDS AND HAVING A 98% RETENTION RATE IN TODAY'S WORLD. I'M PROUD OF THAT. BUT THERE'S WORK TO DO. CAN I LEAVE YOU WITH FOURTH THOUGHTS FOR TAKEAWAYS ARE CURRENT ATTENDANCE IS 24,000. I DID SAY. THAT WE LOST SOME CASES REALLY 24,476, BUT ON THEIR SNAPSHOT DATA WAS 24,500. AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE RIGHT NOW IS 94.9. WE ARE EXTREMELY EXCITED ABOUT SOME OF THE CHANGES WE'RE DOING WITH OUR ENROLLMENT AND TRANSFER PROCEDURES WERE WORKING ON THOSE NOW WE'VE REALLY SPENT A LOT OF OUR TIME GETTING THAT ATTENDANCE PLAN READY AND GOING, BUT WE'RE REALLY LOOKING TO FINALIZE SOME SOME NEW PROCESS AND PROCEEDED FOR ENROLLMENT TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR PARENTS MAKING A BETTER EXPERIENCE. AND THEN ONCE AGAIN THAT RETENTION RATE AT 98% OF SOMETHING THAT THAT WE SHOULD TALK ABOUT A LITTLE BIT MORE.
AND THAT'LL DO IT. DR HAMLIN. THANK YOU FOR YOUR MONTHLY UPDATE IS A VERY THOROUGH AND INFORMATIVE BOARD MEMBERS. DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? THIS ROBOTIC I KNEW IT WAS COMING. UM. I AM. THANK YOU TO YOU. AND WHOEVER HELPS SUPPORT PUTTING AH, THIS DATA TOGETHER. IT'S LONG BEEN A QUESTION AND FOCUS AND I'M SUPER EXCITED TO SEE IT. UM. I DO HAVE A QUESTION ON THE RED AND BLUE ON THE THREE YEAR COMPARISON OF DISTRICT TRANSFERS. CAN YOU
[01:40:06]
CLARIFY? UM OBVIOUSLY, THE TRANSFERS IN ARE EASY TO TRACK. WE KNOW THEY'RE COMING IN. WE'VE GOT THAT THE RED NUMBERS THAT ARE INDICATED TRANSFERS OUT OF CFB. I SD AND YOU INDICATED THOSE THAT LIVE HERE BUT DO NOT GO TO SCHOOL IS THIS NUMBER INCLUSIVE OF KIDS OF STUDENTS THAT WERE IN C F B, I S D AND LEFT OR HAVE NEVER ENROLLED IN HAVE NEVER CHOSEN CFB IS THEIR ACADEMIC HOME. IT'S A LITTLE ABOUT ACTUALLY IT'S KIDS THAT WE KNOW THAT LIVE HERE JUST ARE NOT COMING HERE. SOME OF THEM DID START WITH US AND LEFT US BUT WE KNOW THERE ARE SOME THERE THAT NEVER ATTENDED OUR SCHOOL. OKAY WE LOOKING AT WAYS, UM TO, UM EVERYBODY HAS A CHOICE WHEN CHOOSING THEIR ACADEMIC COM I UNDERSTAND, BUT OF BETTER UNDERSTANDING ALMOST SIMILAR TO AN EXIT INTERVIEW, I GUESS ON CAPTURING, WHY ARE STUDENTS ARE ARE LEAVING? C F B I S D FOR OTHER OBVIOUSLY FOR SOME OTHER CHOICES, OR COULD BE OTHER REASONS. MOVING WHATEVER. YOU KNOW, I UNDERSTAND THAT, BUT I THINK THAT INFORMATION IS REALLY GOING TO HELP WHERE WE NEED TO FOCUS OUR RESOURCES, OUR INVESTMENTS. YOU KNOW OUR PRIORITIES. ABSOLUTELY. WE WOULD REALLY NEED TO STRENGTHEN THAT. EXIT. OPPORTUNITY WHEN THEY DO LEAVE. WE WANT TO KNOW EXACTLY NOT ONLY WHERE THEY'RE GOING, BUT WHY THEY'RE GOING. SO THAT IS PART OF OUR CONVERSATION IN OUR PLAN IN THE FUTURE, OKAY? AND THEN ON THE SAME THE TRANSFERS IN I KNOW, YOU KNOW, WE CAPTURE THAT AND YOU FILL OUT A FORM AND A TRANSMITTER. THOSE I KNOW THAT PROCESS. UM, BUT WE DO ALREADY HAVE THE DATA OF WHY THEY'RE COMING TO SEE US BE. YOU KNOW WHAT PROGRAM? WHAT SCHOOL? WHAT? YOU KNOW WHAT? THEY'RE TRYING? YOU KNOW WHAT CFB IS OFFERING THAT THEIR HOME DISTRICT IS NOT OFFERING. OKAY SAME SITUATION THAT BETTER HELPS US, YOU KNOW, AND I'LL BE INTERESTED TO SEE HER MORE. ON THAT TO HELP. US WITH OUR PRIORITIES AND WHERE WE NEED TO INVEST. UM JUST THANK YOU. THAT'S WHY I CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK NEXT MONTH. ADDITIONAL MISS BRADY. I ALSO WANT TO THANK YOU FOR ALL THE NUMBERS. I LOVE IT. I'M A GOOD, BAD AND UGLY. I LOVE IT. I'D LOVE TO SEE ALL THE NUMBERS. CAN'T ARGUE IT IS WHAT IT IS. WE BELIEVE IN THE TRANSPARENCY. I DO. I LOVE IT. UM BUT I DO WANT TO ASK ABOUT. I KNOW WE'VE TALKED AT LENGTH ABOUT UPDATING OUR PROCEDURE AND ENROLLMENT PROCEDURES. WHEN CAN WE EXPECT THAT TO BE AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC? BECAUSE THEY'RE EVEN NOW? OF COURSE, AS YOU KNOW, PEOPLE ARE TO BE PICKED THE RIGHT PLACE TO BE THEY WANT TO COME HERE. WONDERFUL THINGS WE DO HERE FOOTBALL TEAM GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS AND THE WHOLE THING. SO AND WHO IS THAT? ACH SO THEY WANT TO COME HERE? SO IS THERE AN EASY PROCESS? WHEN WILL WE HAVE THAT READY AND AVAILABLE EASIER AND BETTER? WELL I KNOW THAT FOR SOME TOMORROW'S TOO LATE, BUT WE'RE WE ARE WORKING ON THAT RIGHT NOW AND REALLY OUR WINDOW OR WINDOW FOR ENROLLMENT. REALLY BIG KICKOFF IS AROUND SPRING BREAK UP APRIL THE FIRST. THAT'S WHERE WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A BIG PUSH. BUT WE WANT TO HAVE THE PLAN. WE'RE WORKING ON A PLAN. HOPEFULLY, WE CAN GET THAT PLAN. HOPEFULLY, MID I'M NOT GONNA SAY MID NOVEMBER BUT MID DECEMBER, MAYBE GET EVERYTHING FINALIZED BECAUSE WHAT WE WANT TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE OUR NOT ONLY OUR PRINCIPLES INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS, BUT SOME PARENTS INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS AS WELL. SO IT'S GOING TO TAKE A LITTLE BIT OF TIME. BUT WE ARE WORKING ON IT AND WE WILL GET IT HOPEFULLY, BEFORE WE LEAVE FOR THE SEMESTER BECAUSE WE WANNA DO THAT BIG PUSH IN JANUARY BECAUSE WHAT WE REALLY WANT TO FOCUS ON IN THAT ENROLLMENT PHASE WHEN WE KICK OFF IN APRIL. WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO HAVE AT LEAST 50 TO 60% OF OUR KIDS IDENTIFIED AS COMING BACK AND WHERE THEY'RE GOING TO BE, BECAUSE RIGHT NOW, THE TYPICAL AVERAGE IS AT THE END OF THE YEAR. ONLY 10% OF OUR STUDENTS. ENROLL AND SAY THEY'RE COMING BACK BY MAY. THE END OF MAY, AND THAT'S TOO LOW BECAUSE WHEN WE HAD THAT LOW OF A NUMBER, IT'S REALLY HARD FOR US TO KNOW. THE CLASS SIZES AND WHERE THE KIDS WILL BE ABLE TO GO RIGHT. SO WE'RE REALLY DOING GOING TO DO A BIG ATTENDANCE PUSH AN ENROLLMENT PUSH IN APRIL , BUT WE REALLY WANT THAT PLAN READY TO GO SOMETIME. HOPEFULLY IN DECEMBER, AND THAT WAY WE CAN PUSH IT OUT IN JANUARY. WOULD BE GREAT BECAUSE I KNOW YOU KNOW THAT YOU KNOW, PRIVATE AND CHARTER SCHOOLS ASKED FOR THAT COMMITMENT. EARLY ON IN THE SPRING. SEMESTER, JANUARY FEBRUARY. IF THEY'RE COMING BACK OR NOT, SO I JUST WANT US TO HAVE SOMETHING AVAILABLE. IF THE PARENTS CHOOSE NOT TO DO THAT AGAIN, THAT WE HAVE SOMETHING OPEN, READY TO GO HERE THAT'S EASY AND ACCESSIBLE FOR ALL. UM, TO ENROLL AND CFB. CORRECT THAT'S ALL I WAS TRYING TO. AND I APPRECIATE YOU SAYING THAT BECAUSE I THINK ALL Y'ALL REMEMBER WE STARTED THE SEVERAL YEARS AGO. WELL, I WOULD SAY PROBABLY ALMOST EIGHT OR NINE YEARS AGO, WE STARTED THAT PARENT PREVIEW FOR MIDDLE[01:45:01]
SCHOOL. WE TAKE THE FIFTH GRADERS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY. AND THEN THE NEXT WEEK WE HAVE THAT PARENTS REVIEW, YOU KNOW, AND WE DID THAT BECAUSE OF CHARTER SCHOOLS AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS. AND SO WE REALLY STARTED AT THE END OF JANUARY THAT THINK NOW WE DO IT THE FIRST WEEK OF FEBRUARY, BUT THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WE REALLY, REALLY HAVE TO LOOK AT AND GIVE UP OUR PARENTS THE OPPORTUNITY IN THE COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITY TO SEE WHAT WE OFFER BECAUSE WE OFFER GREAT THINGS. THAT MIDDLE SCHOOL IN ALL OF OUR CAMPUSES, SO WE JUST HAVE TO CONTROL THE NARRATIVE AND MAKE SURE THEY KNOW WHAT WE'RE DOING, AND IN TIME FOR THE CHARTER PARENTS TO COME SEE WHAT WE HAVE, BECAUSE HERE'S WHAT WE KNOW IS THEY MAY LEAVE US BUT THEY COME BACK, AND WE JUST DON'T WANT THEM TO WASTE THEIR TIME GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE WHEN WE OFFER THE BEST OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR KIDS, SO WE'LL GET HIM BACK. THANK YOU. MS GARZA ROJAS. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRESENTATION. I DO AGREE WITH MISS BRADY. SOONER IS BETTER THAN LATER AND WE CAN'T TRUST THAT THEY'RE GOING TO COME BACK TO US. AND SO, UM, I WOULD ALWAYS RECOMMEND OF COURSE, LIKE SOONER SOONER IS BETTER FOR US SOONER. WE ROLL IT OUT, THE QUICKER WE DO IT. BETTER RESULTS WERE GOING TO GET AND THAT'S JUST MY OPINION. BUT I DON'T WORK WHERE YOU WORK, SO I'M JUST SIT UP HERE ANYWAYS, I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT THE ATTENDANCE PLAN. I THINK YOU SAID THAT. IT.HAS IT BEEN ROLLED OUT YET? WE ACTUALLY HAD A SESSION WITH ALL THE PRINCIPLES LAST WEEK ON OCTOBER 26TH. WE SHARED IT WITH OUR PRINCIPLES. GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO BRIDE EVEN MORE FEEDBACK, WHICH THEY DID, AND SO WE'RE GETTING THAT INTO THE PLAN NOW AND THEN WE'LL PUSH THAT OUT HERE IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS WHEN WE GET ALL THEIR FEEDBACK INTO THE DOCUMENT AS WELL, BUT WE WANTED TO BE RURAL TRANSPARENT WITH OUR CAMPUSES, AND WE WANTED THEM TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL FEEDBACK. AND THEY DID THAT. ON LAST THURSDAY, OCTOBER 26TH OKAY. SOUNDS GREAT.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH. MR SHENKMAN. DR HAMLIN. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT THIS PRESENTATION IS I WAS STUDYING IT. REMINDED ME IS JUST HOW HARSHLY WE WERE IMPACTED BY COVID. I IT'S KIND OF EASY TO FORGET THAT IN A WAY, BECAUSE THERE'S NOT MUCH OF IT RIGHT NOW. BUT WHEN YOU LOOK AT THIS, THE REALITY IS WE'RE DOWN. FIVE JUST 5.5. OVER THE TIME OF COVID. AND. SO I OBVIOUSLY ANYTHING WE CAN DO THAT WORKS. ON ACROSS ALL THE BOARD IS OF HELP TO ALL OF THIS, BUT YES, SIR. BIG DEAL AND THANK YOU FOR BRINGING US THE STATS. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. AND ONE THING I REALLY LOVE ABOUT THIS ALSO, JUST SAY THAT OUT LOUD IS YOU KNOW WE HAVE WE HAVE A REALLY, REALLY SPECIFIC FOCUS THEIR STUDENT SERVICES NOW OBVIOUSLY, DISCIPLINES ALWAYS BEEN THAT, BUT HAVING THIS FOCUS ON ENROLLMENT AND ATTENDANCE IS GOING TO BE HUGE FOR THIS DISTRICT BECAUSE BEING A PRINCIPAL IN THIS ISSUE FOR 20 YEARS WE REALLY NEVER HAD CONVERSATIONS ABOUT ATTENDANCE LIKE WE'RE HAVING TODAY.
ENROLLMENT LIKE WE'RE HAVING TODAY, ESPECIALLY MOBILITY LIKE WE'RE HAVING TODAY. SO WE'RE GONNA WE'RE GONNA DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO GET OUR KIDS KEEP OUR KIDS RETAIN OUR KIDS AND THEN BECOMING A DISTRICT. SO EVERYBODY JUST KEEPS COMING COMING COMING BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT WE WANT. DR HAMILL. YOU SET ME UP PERFECTLY FOR MY QUESTION. THAT'S WHAT I DID. THANK YOU.
CAN YOU DEFINE MOBILITY? HOW ARE WE DEFINING MOBILITY AS A DISTRICT? JUST STILL MISS HATFIELDS QUESTION AS WELL. WELL, IT ISN'T THE KIDS THAT CONTINUE TO MOVE AND YOU KNOW, AND IT COULD JUST BE ONCE. UH SO IT DOESN'T MEAN THEY HAVE TO MOVE TWO OR THREE TIMES LIKE I MENTIONED EARLIER. BUT WHEN KIDS MOVE FROM ONE CAMPUS TOGETHER, AND SOMETIMES WITH THE CAUSE OF THAT MOBILITY LIKE WHEN WE MOVED KIDS FROM SHEFFIELD TO FOR NO. BECAUSE OF THE CONSTRUCTION, SO THAT'S PART OF IT JUST SHOWS KIDS GOING FROM ONE CAMPUS TO THE NEXT CAMPUS OR ONE CAMPUS.
OUT OF THE DISTRICT. THAT WAS GONNA BE MY QUESTION, SO NOT NECESSARILY WITHIN DISTRICT CAMPUS TO CAMPUS, BUT THIS COULD BE CAMPUS TO OUTSIDE OF CFB OR MOVED AWAY. THAT'S ALSO COUNTED.
IMMOBILITY LEFT THE COUNTRY FOR MULTIPLE MONTHS BECAUSE OF FAMILY CHOICES THAT COUNTS UNDER MOBILITY AS WELL. OKAY SO I THINK THAT'S IMPORTANT JUST TO NOTE BECAUSE I THINK THAT WE DO HAVE A HIGH MOBILITY DISTRICT. THAT'S JUST A FACT. AND THAT ABSOLUTELY IMPACTS EVERYTHING THAT WE DO SO OKAY. THANK YOU FOR DEFINING THAT. OF YEARS. THANK YOU, MISS HATFIELD. UM AND CONGRATULATIONS ON THE 95.7. WHOOP WHOOP. THAT'S GOOD GETTING THERE. YES, WE ARE THINKING ABOUT. I UNDERSTAND THE NORTH. MOBILITY ISSUES AND, OF COURSE, OUR WEST SIDE. WHAT ABOUT DO IT, PERRY? I KNOW THERE'S A BIG DIFFERENCE THERE AND WITH THEIR SO CENTRALLY LOCATED. YEAH, WELL, WE'RE WE'RE LOOKING INTO THAT AND OBVIOUSLY WE HAD A REALLY TOUGH YEAR LAST YEAR, AND I'M NOT GONNA PUT ANYTHING ON THE TOUGH YEAR. WE HAD IT SEVERAL CAMPUSES LAST YEAR WITH THE EPIDEMIC THAT WE WERE FACING WITH VIETNAM AND THINGS LIKE THAT, BUT WE KNOW THAT ALL THOSE TYPE OF THINGS CAN PLAY INTO IT. BUT WE'RE LOOKING AT THOSE NUMBERS. I DON'T HAVE A GOOD
[01:50:05]
ANSWER FOR YOU TONIGHT JUST BECAUSE WE DIDN'T DIVE IN 100% IN THAT, BUT WE'RE REALLY FOCUSING ON THOSE CAMPS THAT HAD 20% OR MORE SO, BUT WE'LL HAVE. WE'LL HAVE INFORMATION FOR YOU.OKAY AND THEN I WANTED TO ASK, REMEMBER, WE DIDN'T GO TO SCHOOL. IT WAS TRUE AND SEE, WE GOT IN TROUBLE. BUT MOBILITY SEEMS TO BE YOU KNOW THE JUGGLING GAME TODAY THEY JUST TAKE THEIR KIDS OUT AND THEY'RE GONE AND COME BACK WITH THE KIDS THAT ARE MOVING. UH, YOU KNOW, WE'RE STILL HAVING A VERY ACTIVE APPROACH ON TRUANCY. UH THERE'S UNEXCUSED ABSENCES. UH SO YOU KNOW, WE'RE ACTUALLY JUST I JUST SENT OUT AN EMAIL TO ALL HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPALS TODAY WITH THE LIST OF STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN OUT FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME AND HELPING THEM MAKE SURE THAT WE FIND OUT WHERE THEY'RE AT. UH SO TRUANCY IS STILL A CONCERN, BUT THAT'S GOING TO BE TIED TO THOSE UNEXCUSED ABSENCES . MOBILITY IS ABOUT STUDENTS GOING BACK AND FORTH OR ARE LEAVING THE DISTRICT JUST MOVING, SO IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING TO DO WITH ATTENDANCE OR ENROLLMENT. THANK YOU. WELL, YOU'VE HEARD FROM EVERYBODY BUT ME. SO I GUESS I GOT TO ASK A QUESTION. I FIGURED YOU'RE COMING. UM I ACTUALLY WANTED TO SHARE A PART OF THE STORY. I HAVE SHARED THIS WITH DR ELDRIDGE. BUT I THINK IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT BECAUSE THE WORK THAT YOU'RE DOING ON ENROLLMENT DOES MATTER. UM AND WHILE YES, WE WANT IT FAST, AND WE WANT IT NOW, AT THE SAME TIME, THE INPUT THAT WE HAVE WITH OUR PRINCIPLES AND THE WORK THAT WE DO IN THE FIELD TO MAKE SURE THAT THE CHALLENGES THAT THEY SEE THAT WE'RE PUTTING INTO THE SYSTEM IS REALLY IMPORTANT. THE STORY IS ABOUT SOMEONE WHO CALLED ME AND SAID, CAN I COME OVER? I NEED TO TALK ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL AND THIS PARENT SAID I LEFT CFB AND I WANT TO COME BACK BECAUSE THERE'S NO PROGRAM LIKE WHAT CREEK VIEW OFFERS FOR MY CHILD, AND IT'S NOT IN ANOTHER SCHOOL DISTRICT. IT'S NOT AT THE CHARTER SCHOOL, THE STUDENT CURRENTLY GOES TO AND I WANT TO COME BACK. AND WHAT DO I DO? BECAUSE I'M FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY AND IN MY COUNTRY, YOU HAVE TO TAKE A TEST AND YOU TAKE THE TEST AND HOW YOU PERFORM MEANS WHAT SCHOOL YOU CAN GO TO. AND SO HER CONCEPTUALIZATION OF WHERE HER CHILD CAN GO, IS BASED ON HER EXPERIENCE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY, AND SHE'S LIVED HERE 20 YEARS. AND SO SHE IMMEDIATELY SAID. I WENT I SAW THE WEBSITE.
I KNOW THAT'S WHERE I WANT HIM TO GO. BUT WHAT DO I DO NOW? AND SHE WAS WHAT DO I DO NOW? AND SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. SHE'S LIKE, BUT I HAVE TO TELL THE CHARTER SCHOOL THAT MY CHILD GOES TO BY JANUARY 1ST. IF I'M STAYING, AND TO HER, THAT WAS A DEADLINE THAT SHE HAS TO MEET.
AND SO NOW SHE FEELS LIKE SHE'S IN LIMBO. SHE LIVES IN OUR DISTRICT AND LIKE IN OUR ATTENDANCE ZONE, AND SHE FEELS LIKE THE CHILD CAN'T COME TO OUR SCHOOL UNLESS HE TAKES THE TEST.
AND SO I JUST WANT TO SHARE THAT WITH YOU. I SHARED THIS DR ELDREDGE. EVEN MORE DETAILS OF THE STORIES THAT THOSE ARE THE TYPES OF FAMILIES THAT ARE NEEDING US BECAUSE THEY DO WANT TO COME TO OUR SCHOOLS, BUT THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND THE SYSTEM. AND SO I JUST WANT TO THANK YOU BECAUSE I KNOW IT'S AS MUCH AS WE HAVE PUT A FOCUS ON IT. WE'VE MADE IT VERY CLEAR AND YOUR SENSE OF URGENCY IN THIS DATA SHOWS THAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT IT AND YOUR TEAM IS LOOKING AT IT, AND THE ENTIRE DISTRICT IS REALLY RECOGNIZING IT. THAT IS A REAL CASE. OF SOMEONE WHO SAYS I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. AND HELP ME SO WE ARE GOING TO HELP THIS PERSON, BUT THAT'S JUST ONE OF MANY, AND LUCKILY SHE LIVES ACROSS THE STREET FROM ME, AND SHE WAS ABLE TO CALL ME AND SAY, CAN I COME OVER AND TALK TO YOU ABOUT THIS? SO I JUST WANT TO SHARE THAT STORY WITH YOU AND ENCOURAGE YOU TO KEEP HIM DOING THE WORK AND WORKING WITH PRINCIPLES AND WORKING WITH STAFF AND WORKING WITH THE DISTRICT BECAUSE THE CHANGES WE'RE MAKING ARE GOING TO MAKE AN INPUT FOR A PARENT LIKE THAT. THAT JUST SAYS I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW. SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR PRESENTATION. APPRECIATE THAT. OKAY. BOARD MEMBERS. DO WE NEED A SHORT RECESS OR DO YOU WANT TO KEEP GOING? BATHROOM. ALL RIGHT, WE'LL KEEP PLOWING THROUGH. HOLD YOUR HORSES. UM WE WILL PROCEED TO OUR NEXT AGENDA ITEM ITEM NUMBER FIVE. THE CONSENT AGENDA.
[5. Consent Agenda]
THAT CONSENT AGENDA IS A MECHANISM THAT THE BOARD USES TO APPROVE A NUMBER OF ROUTINE ITEMS TOGETHER WITH A SINGLE VOTE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE TEXAS OPEN MEETINGS ACT. THE PUBLIC NOTICE FOR THIS MEETING INCLUDES A LIST OF ALL CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS, AND THE BOARD HAS BEEN PROVIDED AMPLE INFORMATION ABOUT THESE ITEMS IN ADVANCE. PRIOR TO ANY ACTION TAKEN ON THE CONSENT AGENDA. BOARD MEMBERS MAY REQUEST WITHDRAWAL OF INDIVIDUAL ITEMS FOR CLARIFICATION OR DISCUSSION BOARD MEMBERS. ARE THERE ANY ITEMS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE CONSENT AGENDA AT THIS TIME? MISS BRADY. I'D LIKE TO REMOVE ON A AND B B. OKAY, ANY ADDITIONAL ITEMS TO BE REMOVED? IF THERE ARE NO ADDITIONAL ITEMS TO BE REMOVED. I HAVE A MOTION REGARDING THE CONSENT AGENDA AS AMENDED. HYSTERIC. I MOVE THAT WE APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA WITH THE REMOVAL OF A AND B B. I HAVE A MOTION FROM HYSTERIC TO HAVE A SECOND. MS GARZA ROJAS IS[01:55:02]
A SECOND. IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR. RAISE YOUR HAND. ALL THOSE OPPOSED. WITH A VOTE OF SEVEN IN FAVOR AND ZERO OPPOSED THE MOTION CARRIES. THE NEXT ITEM IS[6. Items for Discussion and/or Action]
ITEM NUMBER SIX ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION AND OUR ACTION. WE HAVE TWO ITEMS REMOVED FROM CONSENT, SO WE'LL PROCEED TO ITEM SIX A. THE TITLE OF THE ITEMS AND I'LL, UM SEE IF WE CAN PUT THEM TOGETHER. MS BRADY. WOULD YOU LIKE TO CLARIFY A AND B B A, A AND B B. I WAS NOT PRESENT FOR THAT MEETING AS I WAS ATTENDING SENIOR NIGHT FOR NEWMAN SMITH, OKAY? SO IT LOOKS LIKE WE CAN DO I HAVE A MOTION REGARDING ITEM A AND B B. MR ERIC. I MOVE THAT WE APPROVE ITEMS A AND B B AS PRESENTED. YOU HAVE A SECOND BENAVIDEZ IS A SECOND. IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR. RAISE YOUR HAND. ALL THOSE OPPOSED. WITH A VOTE OF SIX IN FAVOR. ZERO OPPOSED THE MOTION CARRIES. THE NEXT ITEM IS ITEM SIX. B. CONSIDER APPROVED PURCHASE OF PHONICS AND GRAMMAR PROGRAM WITH SUPPLEMENTAL READING PILOT AND DIGITAL ONLINE RESOURCES FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, MISS HOLCOMB .GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT HATFIELD , DR ALDRIDGE AND DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. I AM HERE TO PRESENT THIS EVENING. A SUPPLEMENTAL REQUEST FOR OUR CURRENT READING CURRICULUM.
MATERIALS THAT ARE SPECIFICALLY FOR UM, GRAMMAR. PHONICS. AND OUR CORE READING LITERATURE AND LEVELED LITERATURE. CLARIFY FOR BOARD MEMBERS THAT IF YOU HAVE A COPY OF THIS PRESENTATION AT YOUR SEAT THANK YOU. YES. SO I WOULD LIKE TO PREFACE THAT, UM, UM, PRESENTATION WITH THIS CAME TO US BY WAY OF ACTUALLY TEACHERS AS WELL AS PRINCIPALS. UM ASKING US TO PLEASE CONSIDER LOOKING AT ADDITIONAL RESOURCES TO HELP THEM WITH JUST SUSTAINING THE WORK THAT THEY HAD TO DO AND PREPARING AND DESIGNING A LITERATURE BLOCK. THE FIRST REQUEST CAME TO US BY WAY OF A BILINGUAL TEACHER WHO NEEDED ADDITIONAL RESOURCES IN THE WAY OF LITERATURE. UM, AS WELL AS PRINCIPALS WHO WERE TRYING TO SUPPORT THEIR TEACHERS, SPECIFICALLY OUR NEW TEACHERS THAT ARE COMING INTO THE FIELD THAT DON'T HAVE AS MUCH READING EXPERIENCE AND UTILIZING OUR CURRENT CURRICULUM HAS BEEN VERY LABOR CEM AND INTENSIVE FOR THEM, AND SO THIS IS COMING TO US BY MANY DIFFERENT WAYS OF FEEDBACK FROM THE FIELD. AND SO WE LOOKED INTO SOME OPTIONS TO CONSIDER. AND SO THIS EVENING, I'M GOING TO PRESENT TO YOU WHAT WE CURRENTLY HAVE, UM WHAT THE RECOMMENDATION IS FOR CONSIDERATION AND THEN KIND OF THE Y LIKE THE WHY BEHIND WHY WE'RE LOOKING AT DOING THIS NOW, SO CURRENTLY WE HAVE FOUR DIFFERENT AREAS OF STANDARDS THAT WE TEACH WITH READING LANGUAGE ARTS FOR ENGLISH AS WELL AS SPANISH. THE FIRST COLUMN IS OUR REGULAR READING TAKES AND THAT'S WHERE WE TEACH OUR CORE READING COMPREHENSION AND THAT IS WHAT WE ARE CURRENTLY USING IS OUR UNITS OF STUDY. THE SECOND AREA THAT WE HAVE STANDARDS TO COVER OUR UNDER THE AREAS OF PHONICS AND SPELLING. WE HAVE THAT FOR ENGLISH AS WELL AS SPANISH AND YOU CAN SEE WE HAVE A VARIETY OF RESOURCES THAT WE ARE UTILIZING TO COVER THOSE STANDARDS. WE HAVE UNITS OF STUDY FOR PHONICS AND K THROUGH TWO. WE HAVE A PROGRAM CALLED HAGERTY, WHICH IS FOR KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST GRADE. WE HAVE A PROGRAM CALLED BENCHMARK, WHICH IS ALSO CALLED CONNECTICUT FOR OUR SPANISH LANGUAGE ARTS. AND THEN WE HAVE A EXCUSE ME A PROGRAM CALLED WORDS THEIR WAY. FOR GRAMMAR. THERE'S ANOTHER SET OF STANDARDS THAT WE HAVE TO TEACH THAT DIRECTLY IMPACT OUR WRITING SCORES, AND WE ARE CURRENTLY USING A PROGRAM CALLED PATTERNS OF POWER. AND THEN THE FOURTH AREA IS OUR WRITING STANDARDS AND FOR WRITING. WE ARE USING OUR UNITS OF STUDY FOR WRITING, SO AS YOU CAN SEE, THERE ARE SEVEN DIFFERENT PROGRAMS THAT WRAP UP AND MAKE UP A LANGUAGE ARTS BLOCK. EACH OF THOSE RESOURCES THAT WE CURRENTLY HAVE PARTIALLY ALIGNED TO THE STANDARDS. MULTIPLE RESOURCES ARE NECESSARY FOR OUR TEACHERS TO BE ABLE TO COVER 100% OF THE STANDARDS WHEN THEY'RE BUILDING AND DESIGNING ILLITERACY BLOG. AND SO BY OUR CURRENT CURRICULUM , WHICH IS COVERING 100% OF THE STANDARDS, IT TAKES QUITE A FEW RESOURCES TO SUPPLEMENT TO GET THERE. THAT HAS CREATED A VERY COMPLEX AND A VERY DETAILED CURRICULUM, WHICH HAS MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR OUR NEW TEACHERS TO NAVIGATE WHEN THEY'RE ACTUALLY PLANNING A LANGUAGE ARTS BLOG. SO THE RECOMMENDATION IS FOR US TO LOOK AT SUPPLEMENTING OUR CURRENT PROGRAM WITH AN ADDITIONAL, UM, ACCESS TO RESOURCES FOR ALL FOUR OF THOSE ARE ALL FOR EXCUSE ME THREE OR THREE OUT OF THOSE FOUR
[02:00:03]
AREAS. THE FIRST WOULD BE OUR IT'S ALL THE SAME PROGRAM, WHICH IS HOOTON MIFFLIN HARCOURT, WHICH WE HAVE AS LISTED AS HMM. H SO WHEN YOU SEE THOSE THREE LETTERS, IT'S REFERENCING A PROGRAM THAT IS HOOTON MIFFLIN HARCOURT. THE PROGRAM IS CALLED INTO READING FOR ENGLISH, AND IT'S CALLED A REBA FOR SPANISH. SO FOR THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS TV T X. THE PROGRAM THAT IS DESIGNED FOR THE READING WOULD BE THE INTERBREEDING AND AREVA. WITHIN THE SAME PROGRAM. THEY HAVE PHONICS MATERIALS AND SPELLING MATERIALS FOR ENGLISH AND SPANISH AND THEN ALSO THE SAME FOR GRAMMAR. WE ARE NOT LOOKING AT ADDING ANYTHING ADDITIONAL TO OUR CURRENT WRITING PROGRAM. UM ARE WRITING DATA ACTUALLY HAS SHOWN THAT WE ARE OUTPERFORMING ACTUALLY THE STATE AND MANY OF THOSE AREAS SO OUR STUDENTS ABILITY TO BE ABLE TO WRITE AND COMPOSE COMPREHENSION. UM AND, UM, ESSAYS IS ACTUALLY VERY STRONG. BUT THE AREA THAT WE ARE FINDING THAT WE NEED TO STRENGTHEN IS IN THE AREA OF REVISING AND EDITING, WHICH IS WHERE WE LOST SOME OF OUR POINTS. AND WE DO BELIEVE THAT A GRAMMAR PROGRAM THAT IS HIGH QUALITY WILL HELP TO GET US THERE. SO THE PROGRAM THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT WITH H. M H IS 100% ALIGNED TO THE STANDARDS AND I WANTED TO SHOW YOU FOR FULL TRANSPARENCY STRAIGHT FROM T E A THAT THESE PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN VETTED AND APPROVED BY THE STATE. AS BEING 100% COMPLIANT WITH THE STANDARDS. SO FOR ENGLISH THAT'S A LITTLE SMALL TO READ THERE, BUT YOU CAN SEE IT'S KINDERGARTEN 1ST AND 2ND GRADE AND IT SHOWS 100% ALIGNMENT AND THEN FOR 3RD, 4TH AND 5TH GRADE THE SAME ON THE RIGHT SIDE. YOU'LL SEE SPANISH WHICH IS OUR A REBOOT, AND THAT IS K. 12 IS ALIGNED AT 100% AS WELL AS 3RD, 4TH AND 5TH GRADE. THE PROGRAM HAS BEEN DESIGNED AND WRITTEN BY , UM, BILINGUAL AUTHORS FOR A DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM AS WELL. IT IS MIRRORED SO THAT WHETHER YOU'RE IN AN ENGLISH CLASSROOM OR A SPANISH CLASSROOM, THE LITERATURE IS VERY SIMILAR, SO IT'S GOING TO HELP DEVELOP THE L ONE AS WELL AS SUPPORT THE L TWO, AND IT'S GOING TO PROVIDE A VARIETY OF LEVELED LITERATURE FOR OUR STUDENTS TO READ IN SMALL GROUPS WITH TEACHERS AND GUIDED READING. AS WELL AS INDEPENDENTLY. THEY'LL HAVE BOOKS IN THEIR HANDS TO BE ABLE TO READ THAT MIRROR WHAT THE TEACHER HAS SOMETHING THAT'S UNIQUE TO THIS PROGRAM. THAT IS DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WE CURRENTLY HAVE. IS IT WITH THE H M H PROGRAM? THE TEACHER HAS A TEACHING POWELL AND THE TEACHING PANEL IS VISIBLE ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE, AND THIS IS A CRITICAL COMPONENT FOR UNDERSTANDING WHY THE PILOT CAMPUSES REALLY WANT THIS FOR THEIR TEACHERS AS A NEW TEACHER COMING INTO THE FIELD WITHOUT AN EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND, YOU HAVE TO LEARN THE STANDARDS AND THERE'S A LOT OF THEM. YOU ALSO HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO PLAN AND DEVELOP A CORE CURRICULUM BLOCK TO TEACH READING. AND THEN YOU HAVE TO HAVE DEPTH OF KNOWLEDGE FOR APPROPRIATE QUESTIONING, AND THEN THE ABILITY TO DO DIFFERENTIATIONS FOR STUDENTS THAT HAVE LANGUAGE GAPS. THIS PARTICULAR BOOK THAT YOU'RE SEEING IS A HANDHELD WHAT THEY CALL A TEACHING POWELL AND THE STORIES ARE INSIDE OF THAT. AND WHEN YOU OPEN IT UP, IT LOOKS LIKE THEY'RE STICKY NOTES THAT ARE PRINTED ON THE INSIDE OF THE MATERIALS, BUT THEY'RE ACTUALLY PRINTED STICKY NOTES FOR THE TEACHERS TO GUIDE THEIR QUESTIONING. IT WILL TELL THEM IF THEY'RE AT A DEPTH OF KNOWLEDGE FOR IF THERE AT A DEPTH OF KNOWLEDGE TO IF THERE AT A DEPTH OF KNOWLEDGE ONE AND THAT IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE THE NUMBERS OF DEPTH OF KNOWLEDGE ALIGNED TO THE LEVEL OF RIGOR AND THE QUESTIONING FOR COMPREHENSION. THE OTHER PART OF THAT THEY DENOTE IN ANOTHER COLOR IS FOR LANGUAGE DIFFERENTIATION. SO IF YOU'RE A BRAND NEW TEACHER, AND YOU'RE NOT QUITE SURE WHAT TO ASK THE STUDENTS OR HOW TO GUIDE THEIR THINKING IT'S RIGHT ON THE PAGE FOR YOU TO BE ABLE TO ASK THE QUESTIONS. THE POWER BEHIND THAT ALSO IS THAT ON THE RIGHT SIDE, YOU SEE SOMETHING CALLED A MY BOOK. IT IS A CONSUMABLE BOOK THAT IS FOR THE STUDENTS, AND IT MIRRORS WHAT THE TEACHER HAS IN HER HAND. SO WHILE SHE'S IN THE POWER ZONE, READING THE LITERATURE AND QUESTIONING THE STUDENTS HAVE THE SAME BOOK IN FRONT OF THEM. THE CONSUMABLES ARE DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS TO TAKE HOME AND SO THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO HAVE IN COLOR EVERY STORY THAT THEY'VE READ IN CLASS WITH THEIR TEACHER TO TAKE HOME AND HAVE A STORY AT HOME TO READ WITH THEIR PARENTS AND SIBLINGS. THE TEACHING PAL NOT ONLY HAS THE DEPTH THE DEPTH OF KNOWLEDGE PIECES IN THAT, BUT IT ALSO HELPS THE TEACHER NOT TO BE BOUND BY WHAT I WOULD CALL ONE OF OUR OLD FASHIONED TO EASE BACK IN THE DAY. THEY WERE VERY THICK AND THEY WERE SPIRAL BOUND AND YOU HAD TO WALK AROUND WITH A BIG BOOK. THEY'RE DESIGNED TO LOOK LIKE YOU'RE WALKING AROUND WITH A BOOK IN YOUR HAND, AND THAT'S A REALLY IMPORTANT COMPONENT BECAUSE IT'S VERY DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WE HAVE CURRENTLY. ON THE MY BOOK SIDE.THE STUDENTS ACTUALLY DO ANNOTATIONS WITHIN THE STORIES AND THEY DO WRITING PRACTICE THROUGHOUT THE TIME THAT THEY'RE READING THE BASAL STORIES. SO THE WHY THE WHY KIND OF ALIGNS BACK TO WHAT HOPE MENTIONED EARLIER WITH THE EIGHT WITH THEIR HB THREE BOARD GOALS. ONE OF OUR FOCUSES AS SHE MENTIONED EARLIER WAS HAVING OUR STUDENTS BEING ABLE TO READ ON GRADE LEVEL BY THIRD GRADE. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT CAME OUT IN JUNE OF 2019. THAT'S A CRITICAL COMPONENT IS THAT HB THREE MANDATED THAT WE DO OUR READING ACADEMIES, WHICH ARE VERY FAMILIAR WITH BUT ALSO THAT WE HAVE A PHONICS CURRICULUM IN PLACE, AND IT'S BOLD ID THAT IT IS SYSTEMATIC DIRECT INSTRUCTION FOR KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS THROUGH THIRD GRADE. SO WE DO VET TO T E A EVERY YEAR, A PROGRAM THAT IS ALIGNED TO THIS ACTUAL T E C MANDATE. THIS
[02:05:05]
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
ARE ACTUALLY STILL WORKING ON MASTERING FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS. THE FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS ARE A BREAKDOWN OF AREAS WITHIN PHONOLOGICAL AWARENESS, AS WELL AS PHONICS WARD RECOGNITION.
THOSE TWO AREAS AS WE KNOW ARE CRITICAL TO STUDENTS BEING ABLE TO READ FLUENTLY AND AUTOMATICALLY. THE AREA THAT'S IN THE DARK BLUE IS A 16. AND THAT SHOWS THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS AT THE BEGINNING OF YEAR WHEN WE DID SCREENING THAT WERE PROFICIENT IN READING FLUENTLY AT THAT TIME, THE WAY IT WORKS IS THEY TAKE A FIRST KIND OF INITIAL TESTS OF READING SENTENCES FLUENTLY AND DEPENDING ON HOW FLUENTLY THEY ARE READING SPOOL SENTENCES, IT WILL LAUNCH THEM INTO READING PASSAGES, OR IT WILL DO SORT OF A BACKWARDS CHECK ON HOW ARE YOUR PHONICS SKILLS? SO, AS YOU CAN SEE, WITH THAT WE HAVE CURRENTLY 16% OF THE STUDENTS THAT WERE ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD AND DO ORAL READING FLUENCY. BUT WE STILL HAVE 84% OF OUR STUDENTS THAT ARE WORKING TO MASTER PHONICS. THE LEVELS ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE GIVE YOU A BREAKDOWN OF FROM A LEVEL ZERO TO LEVEL FIVE. WHAT PERCENTAGE OF THE STUDENTS ARE STILL WORKING TO MASTER AT DIFFERENT LEVELS OF ANEMIC AWARENESS? UM THE BLUE AND THE GREEN ARE ACTUALLY OKAY. THOSE ARE AREAS THAT YOU WANT TO KIND OF CONTINUE TO SEE MOVING FORWARD, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE AREAS OF BLUE OR WHERE YOU REALLY WANT TO HONE IN ON BECAUSE THOSE ARE THE STUDENTS THAT ARE AT THE FINAL LEVELS OF MASTERY. AND WE'LL BE LAUNCHING INTO MORE OF WHAT WE CALL THE ACTUAL FLUENT READING AND AUTOMATIC READING. THE AREAS THAT ARE IN THE YELLOW AND THE RED ARE THE PERSONAGES.
YOU REALLY WANT TO LOOK CLOSELY AT TO SEE ARE WE PROVIDING PROPER INTERVENTIONS IS CORE INSTRUCTION ADDRESSING THOSE NEEDS FROM AFFINITY, PHONETIC AWARENESS PERSPECTIVE, AND ARE WE PROVIDING THE RIGHT HIGH QUALITY RESOURCES FOR OUR STUDENTS TO MASTER THOSE FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS THAT WE KNOW ARE CRITICAL FOR READING COMPREHENSION? SO WHEN YOU CONTRAST THIS WITH OUR SPANISH DATA, THIS IS THE SAME TEST, BUT IT'S WITH OUR STUDENTS TAKING THE TEST IN SPANISH. AND SO YOU CAN SEE THAT WITH THIS. WE HAVE APPROXIMATELY 4% OF THE STUDENTS WERE READING FLUENTLY AND INTO THE PASSAGES AND THE OTHER PERCENTAGE OF THAT WAS ACTUALLY STILL WORKING ON MASTERY OF FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS. THE BREAKDOWN YOU CAN SEE OVER ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. IT'S ALSO A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WE SAW WITH THE ENGLISH. THERE'S A LITTLE MORE MASTERY ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE WITH OUR PHONICS AND WORD RECOGNITION, BUT THERE'S A LARGER AREA TO INTERVENE ON WITH PHONOLOGICAL AWARENESS. SO WE DO BELIEVE BY PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY RESOURCES AND SUPPLEMENTS FOR OUR TEACHERS TO UTILIZE THAT IT WILL ACTUALLY INCREASE OUR PROFICIENCY IS AND WHAT WE'RE SEEING IN OUR CURRENT LITERACY DATA. SO WHO WOULD THIS ACTUALLY BEFORE? WITH THE POTENTIAL PURCHASE OF THE PROGRAM. ALL CAMPUSES WE WOULD RECOMMEND HAVING ACCESS TO THE PHONICS AND SPELLING RESOURCES AS WELL AS THE GRAMMAR TO BE USED IN SUPPLEMENTED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, SO IT WOULD BE A CHOICE FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO UTILIZE AND EXTEND BEYOND WHAT WE CURRENTLY HAVE. WE STILL HAVE ACCESS TO THE CURRENT RESOURCES, BUT WE WILL HAVE HIGH QUALITY RESOURCES THAT WILL BE THERE FOR A SUPPLEMENT. ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE. THERE ARE 14 CAMPUSES THAT HAVE REACHED OUT AND SAID, WE WANT TO DO THE WHOLE THING. WE
[02:10:04]
WENT TO PILOT THE READING MATERIALS AS WELL AS THE PHONICS MATERIALS AND THE GRAMMAR. WE WANT TO GO ALL IN. SOME OF THOSE 14 CAMPUSES ARE FULL PILOTS, MEANING ALL KINDERGARTEN THROUGH FIFTH GRADE, AND SOME ARE PARTIAL. MAYBE 1ST AND 3RD GRADE OR FOURTH GRADE ONLY. I SPENT A GREAT DEAL OF TIME AND I WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO MS BRIANNA BRETT BROWSE. SHE'S AN AMAZING JOB WITH THIS. SHE'S HER FIRST YEAR AS A DIRECTOR IN THIS ROLE, AND SHE HAS JUST COME INTO THIS AND EMBRACED PROBABLY SOMETHING SHE PROBABLY WASN'T PREPARED FOR, AND A VERY BEAUTIFUL WAY AND HAS BEEN VERY RESPONSIVE TO THE CAMPUSES AND THEIR NEEDS. UM IT'S REALLY IT'S EXCITING TO SEE THE EXCITEMENT FROM THE TEACHERS THAT THERE IS A POSSIBILITY FOR THEM TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.UM I THINK THEY FEEL VERY VALUE THAT THEIR VOICES HEARD. AND WHEN YOU HEAR TEACHERS TALKING ABOUT THE TIME THAT THEY'RE SPENDING ON THE WEEKENDS TO PREPARE THEIR CURRICULUM RESOURCES INTO BE FULLY PREPARED FOR THEIR READING BLOG. IT REALLY HURTS YOUR HEART AND YOU WANT TO PROVIDE SOMETHING FOR THEM THAT IS GOING TO BE BENEFICIAL AND EFFECTIVE, BUT ALSO MEET OUR COMPLIANCE MANDATES. SO THE TIMELINE PENDING THE APPROVAL OF THE PURCHASE. WE WOULD IN NOVEMBER THIS STARTING THIS MONTH AND THROUGHOUT THE REMAINDER OF THE FALL, WE WOULD BEGIN THE INITIAL PURCHASE AND WE WILL BEGIN PREPARING FOR RECEIVING FREIGHT FOR THE CAMPUSES. THAT WILL BE THE FULL ALL IN PILOTS, CALLING THOSE THE GROUP ONE CAMPUSES, ALL CAMPUSES WOULD BEGIN SUPPLEMENTS STARTING IN NOVEMBER. PENDING THE PURCHASE APPROVAL THIS EVENING. THEN IN JANUARY, UM THE TIME BETWEEN NOVEMBER AND JANUARY IS CRITICAL FOR US TO RECEIVE THE FREIGHT. PROPERLY PREPARE IT PROPERLY, INVENTORY IT AND TO MAKE SURE THAT THE CAMPUSES ARE READY TO ROLL IT OUT TO THE CLASSROOM LEVEL. AND THEN COMES TRAINING.
PROPER TRAINING IS A NECESSITY FOR THIS TO ROLL OUT WITH, UM IT'S SMOOTHLY AND SO IN JANUARY, WE HAVE A STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAY THAT HAS ALREADY ON THE ACADEMIC CALENDAR AND CAMPUSES ARE FULLY PREPARED TO UTILIZE THAT TIME. UM, TO HAVE A TRAINING WITH THE VENDORS COMING INTO THE DISTRICT, AND THEY WOULD THEN BEGIN THE 14 CAMPUSES, THE FULL READING PILOT STARTING IN JANUARY. THE CURRICULUM DEPARTMENT HAS ALREADY BEGAN WORKING ON A SEPARATE SET OF SCOPE AND SEQUENCE DOCUMENTS TO MAKE SURE THAT WHAT WE'VE TAUGHT THUS FAR IN THE FALL ALSO ALIGNS TO WHAT WE WOULD THEN IMPLEMENT IN THE SPRING SO THAT THERE'S NO MISSING SKILLS AND THAT WE CONTINUE ON THE PATH THAT WE NEED. AND THEN FINALLY, IN AUGUST OF 2024. THERE ARE A GROUP TWO CAMPUSES QUITE A FEW OF THEM WHO HAVE SAID WE ARE READY FOR THIS, BUT WE WOULD LIKE TO WAIT AND ROLL IT OUT IN AUGUST. THEY WOULD LIKE TRAINING IN AUGUST, AND THEY WOULD LIKE TO THEN ROLL OUT THE FULL PILOT STARTING IN AUGUST OF 2024. AND SO WE CURRENTLY HAVE, UM, WHICH IS AN IMPORTANT COMPONENT TO NOTE WE HAVE ABOUT THIS YEAR AND THREE MORE ON OUR CURRENT ADOPTION. SO THE CURRENT ADOPTION WILL GO THROUGH 2027. THE PURCHASE TONIGHT WOULD INCLUDE US BEING ABLE TO COVER THESE MATERIALS THROUGH 2027. BUT PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE STATE HAS ALREADY SAID THAT THERE IS LIKELY GOING TO BE A TWO YEAR EXTENSION FOR US TO THEN. NOT ACTUALLY ADOPT MATERIALS ON THE ORIGINAL TIMELINE, SO WE WILL LIKELY BE LOOKING AT A LONGER DATE BEFORE WE WILL ACTUALLY GET NEW READING MATERIALS AND SO IT WOULDN'T JUST BE FOR THESE FOUR YEARS. WE WOULD HAVE TO THEN POTENTIALLY GO ANOTHER YEAR OR TWO. UNTIL T EA HAS DECIDED WHEN THAT PROCLAMATION WILL COME UP. AND THAT'S IMPORTANT BECAUSE WHEN THE PROCLAMATIONS COME UP, THAT IS WHEN WE GET FUNDED THROUGH T EA FOR OUR INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS ALLOTMENT, AND THAT IS A CRITICAL PART OF FUNDING OF BEING ABLE TO PURCHASE HIGH QUALITY INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES FOR THIS NUMBER OF YEARS. SO THE FINANCIAL PLANNING IS THE FINAL PIECE I WANTED TO SHARE WITH THIS. THIS IS A FINANCIAL INVESTMENT. UM THE FIRST PART. I WANT TO MAKE SURE THERE'S VERY CLEAR THERE'S ONE PURCHASE THAT WE'RE RECOMMENDING THAT AS A ONE TIME PURCHASE FOR WHAT'S CALLED PHONICS MATERIALS IN ORDER TO PROPERLY TEACH THE PHONICS. THE TEACHERS MUST HAVE PRINTED MATERIALS. THAT'S JUST A NECESSITY. SO WHILE THE INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS THAT ARE DIGITAL ARE VERY IMPORTANT, WE ALSO NEED TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE THE DECODE HERBAL READERS AS WELL AS THE INSTRUCTIONAL CARD KITS IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH. SO THERE WILL BE A ONE TIME PURCHASE THAT WE ALREADY HAVE, UM AND DOING SOME PROGRAM REVIEWS WE HAVE ALREADY SECURED ABOUT $300,000 THAT WE HAVE SAVED THIS YEAR AND NOT RENEWING SOME RESOURCES THAT WE JUST DIDN'T NEED. AND SO WE'VE GOT A GOOD ABOUT A GOOD AMOUNT OF THIS INVESTMENT READY TO PUT TOWARDS THIS, UM, THE DIGITAL ACCESS, WHICH WOULD BE FOR WHAT I CALL THE GROUP TWO CAMPUSES, THEY WILL BE THE ONES THAT WILL BE DOING ALL OF THE DIGITAL ACCESS.
FOR THE PHONICS AND GRAMMAR, BUT A LARGE NUMBER OF THE GROUP TWO CAMPUSES WILL COME ON BOARD IN AUGUST AND THAT FREIGHT WILL THEN BE UTILIZED FOR THEM AT THAT TIME, SO THAT WOULD JUST BE A YEARLY FEE FOR THEM TO HAVE DIGITAL ACCESS FOR THIS YEAR. THE AREA IN RED IS GOING TO BE THE MOST EXPENSIVE AREA BECAUSE IT'S A FOUR YEAR, UM, PURCHASE FOR ALL OF THE PILOT CAMPUSES AND THE ONES THAT WOULD COME ON BOARD IN AUGUST FOR THE FULL READING MATERIALS, AND AS YOU CAN SEE ON THE SCREEN, THERE IS A LOT OF THINGS THAT THE TEACHERS WILL BE RECEIVING TO TEACH A HIGH QUALITY LITERACY LITERACY BLOCK, NOT ONLY THE TEACHER AND STUDENT RESOURCES,
[02:15:04]
BUT THEY WILL EACH RECEIVE A SET OF RIGBY LEVELED LITERATURE LIBRARIES, WHICH ARE DESIGNED TO BE ON LEVEL BELOW LEVEL AND ABOVE LEVEL FOR THE STUDENTS, TEACHERS TO HAVE ACCESS. TO DO SOME SMALL GROUP GUIDED READING. THEY ALSO WILL HAVE, OF COURSE, THEIR TEACHER EDITIONS. THE STUDENT CONSUMABLES, WHICH ARE THEN RENEWED EVERY YEAR. VOCABULARY CARDS, SMALL GROUP MATERIALS, THE FAVORITE THING THAT THE PRINCIPAL SAW WHEN THEY WERE ABLE TO MEET WITH THE VENDOR IS THE EMERGENT BILINGUAL MATERIALS. THEY HAVE FLIP CHARTS THAT ARE DESIGNED TO GO ON THE TABLES SO THE TEACHER CAN BE IN A SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION WITH THEIR STUDENTS AND ON THE BACKSIDE OF WHAT THE TEACHER SEIZES THE SCRIPTED AND GUIDED PRACTICE. FOR THE TEACHER TO READ AND SCAFFOLD. THE INSTRUCTION AND THE STUDENT ON THE OTHER SIDE IS SEEING THE VISUALS AND THE THINGS THAT THEY NEED TO BE PROCESSING THROUGH THEIR ABILITY TO THINK ABOUT THE LITERATURE. THERE WILL ALSO BE BIG, BIG BOOKS FOR OUR KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS AND THEN READ ALOUD LITERATURE. SOMETHING'S CALLED BOOK STICKS, POSTER SETS AND THEN THE TABLETOP. MANY LESSONS SO THE PURCHASE FOR THIS WOULD BE FOR EQUAL PAYMENTS FOR THE REMAINING YEARS OF THE ADOPTION RATHER THAN A ONE TIME PURCHASE. IT WOULD BE BROKEN UP OVER THE FOUR YEARS. TAKEAWAYS FROM THE SUPPLEMENTAL RECOMMENDATION IS THAT BY THE PURCHASE OF THIS MATERIAL, IT WILL ALLOW US TO INCREASE FOUNDATIONAL LITERACY SKILLS, WHICH WE KNOW IS GOING TO BE CRITICAL TO INCREASING READING PROFICIENCY AND TO GETTING MORE OF OUR STUDENTS READING ON GRADE LEVEL, ESPECIALLY GOING INTO THAT THIRD GRADE YEAR. IN ADDITION, INCREASING ARE REVISING AND EDITING SKILLS THROUGH THE GRAMMAR MATERIALS WILL HELP US TO INCREASE THE WRITING PROFICIENCY AND WE DO BELIEVE IT IS GOING TO BE A REALLY IMPORTANT COMPONENT AND TURNING THOSE SCORES. HOW WE NEED THEM TO BE WINDSTAR IS ACTUALLY GRADING THEIR EXTENDED CONSTRUCTED RESPONSES. AND THE THIRD PART IS TO REALLY INCREASE CORE INSTRUCTION HAVING HIGH QUALITY RESOURCES WILL NEVER GO WRONG. UM AND THIS GETS US COMPLIANT WITH TA MANDATES, WHICH IS A CRITICAL COMPONENT AS WELL AS THE RECENT LEGISLATIVE REQUIREMENTS. THE LAST TWO BULLETS ARE VERY NEAR AND DEAR TO MY HEART BEING MANY YEARS IN THE CLASSROOM, ESPECIALLY AS AN EARLY LITERACY TEACHER, BUT REDUCING TIME NEEDED FOR LESSON PLANNING AND PREPARATION IS ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL. WE WANT TO RETAIN OUR TEACHERS. THEY ARE VALUABLE AND WE WANT THEM TO BE ABLE TO FEEL SUCCESSFUL IN WHAT THEY'RE DOING AND HOW THEY'RE TEACHING. SOMETIMES JUST LEARNING HOW TO DO CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT IS HARD ENOUGH. THEN YOU THROW ON HOW TO PLAN A GOOD CORE INSTRUCTIONAL BLOCK, AND THAT JUST MAKES IT EVEN MORE CHALLENGING. AND SO BY SUPPORTING OUR NEW TEACHERS AND JUST THEM LEARNING HOW TO TEACH, BUT THEN ALSO EFFECTIVELY DESIGNED LESSONS FOR THE STANDARDS IS ONLY GOING TO HELP US TO HAVE, UM INCREASE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT. AND THEN THE FINAL THING I WANTED TO SHARE WITH.THIS IS ALSO OUR VETERAN TEACHERS WHO PROBABLY COULD TEACH NO MATTER WHAT WE GAVE THEM. THIS ALLOWS THEM AUTONOMY AND FLEXIBILITY FOR THEM TO TAKE THEIR TEACHER ARTISTRY AND CRAFT AND TO DESIGN THE LESSONS THAT THEY FEEL THAT THEY NEED TO DESIGN TO BE ABLE TO REACH THEIR STUDENTS. I DO BELIEVE THAT OUR CAMPUSES ARE ALL VERY INDIVIDUAL AND THEIR UNIQUE NEEDS, AND WE NEED TO BE AWARE OF WHAT THOSE CAMPUSES ARE NEEDING. IN ORDER TO TRULY MOVE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT. AND SO WE ARE WE ARE EXCITED ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY WE ARE. VERY MUCH APPRECIATE THE BOARDS, SUPPORT AND HOPE THAT YOU WILL CONSIDER THE PURCHASE FOR THE SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIALS THIS EVENING. THANK YOU SO MUCH MISS WELCOME BOARD MEMBERS, COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS, MISS BRADY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRESENTATION. YES MA'AM. VERY WELL DONE, AND I'M VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR CRICKET THEN BECAUSE OUR SPANISH SPEAKING STUDENTS AND OUR ENGLISH SPEAKING STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE THE SAME CURRICULUM. THAT'S PRETTY AWESOME, BECAUSE I KNOW THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. THAT'S GREAT. HOWEVER I DO HAVE SOME QUESTIONS. SO IS THERE ANY DATA TO SUPPORT THE THIS PROGRAM? BEING SUCCESSFUL IN ANOTHER DISTRICT. I CAN SHARE FROM MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. I CAN ALWAYS GATHER OTHER DATA AS WELL. IN MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, UM, PRIOR DISTRICT OR HIGHEST PERFORMING CAMPUS WAS OUR DUAL LANGUAGE CAMPUS AND THIS WAS THE SOLE PROGRAM THAT THEY UTILIZED. THEIR DUAL LANGUAGE MODEL WAS STILL YOU KNOW THE WAY THAT WE DO OUR OUR LANGUAGE, OUR SERVICE DELIVERY FOR OUR MINUTES OF INSTRUCTION IN LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT. CAN BE UNIQUE TO DISTRICTS BUT THE RESOURCES THAT WE USE, UM ARE CRITICAL BECAUSE WHEN A STUDENTS IN THEIR CLASSROOM AND THEY'RE IN THEIR L ONE, I'LL JUST USE ENGLISH, FOR EXAMPLE, AND YOU'RE READING A STORY, UM, BAD CASE OF STRIPES. THAT STUDENT THAT'S IN AN ENGLISH AS THEIR BACKGROUND. NATIVE LANGUAGE WILL THRIVE IN UNDERSTANDING COMPREHENSION AND LEARNING HOW TO READ THAT STORY. BUT THE SECOND LANGUAGE LEARNERS MANY TIMES WILL STRUGGLE BECAUSE IT'S NOT WHAT THEY'RE USED TO READING IN THEIR LANGUAGE. SO WHEN THEY GO TO THE SECOND CLASSROOM, WHICH IS THEIR SPANISH CLASSROOM FOR THE STUDENTS THAT WERE IN THEIR L ONE. THEY'RE NOW IN THEIR L TWO AND THE STUDENTS THAT WERE IN THEIR L TWO ARE NOW IN THEIR L ONE. THEY'RE STILL READING BAD CASE OF STRIPES. BUT IN SPANISH, AND SO THE MIRRORED PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR BEING ABLE TO INCREASE PROFICIENCY IN BOTH OF THOSE LANGUAGES. WE ACTUALLY SAW THAT DATA COME TO LIFE FOR US BECAUSE IN PRAGUE, 19, WHICH WAS
[02:20:03]
WHEN THIS ACTUALLY CAME OUT WITH THE FIRST YEAR THAT WE ADOPTED IT. UM THAT WAS ALSO THE YEAR COVID HIT, SO WE WERE SIX MONTHS INTO A BRAND NEW ADOPTION, WHICH WAS NOT IDEAL FOR ANYONE, BUT WE WERE NOT ALONE IN THAT, UM, BUT BEING ABLE TO SUSTAIN INCREASED READING SCORES OVER TIME AND THROUGH COVID WAS CRITICAL. AND WE FOUND THAT THAT THE ONE STABILITY THING THAT WE HAD WAS OUR CURRICULUM RESOURCES WERE REMAINED THE SAME THE EXPECTATIONS ON USING THE CURRICULUM WERE ALSO AN IMPORTANT COMPONENT WITH BEING ABLE TO ROLL IT OUT EFFECTIVELY.AND SO FROM MY PRIOR EXPERIENCE, I HAVE SEEN GREAT DATA WITH WITH THIS PROGRAM. UM I WOULD BE HAPPY TO SEEK OUT MORE DATA FROM OTHER DISTRICTS THAT ARE UTILIZING IT AND TO GET MORE DATA IF THE BOARD WOULD LIKE THAT. I WOULD LIKE THAT. I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SEE MHM. THE PROGRESS. THIS IS THE SUCCESS THAT OTHER DISTRICTS ARE HAVING WITH THAT. SURE, MY SECOND QUESTION SORRY. I KNOW THAT ONE. BUT WHEN YOU DO THE TRAINING. LET'S PRETEND IT GETS A EVERY YEAR. WE APPROVE IT. OKAY. WHEN WE DO THE TRAINING WILL THE SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS BE INVOLVED IN THAT SPECIFIC TRAINING? YES MA'AM. IN FACT, MR OWEN AND I HAVE ALREADY BEEN WORKING ON THE IMPLEMENTATION PLAN FOR THAT. IT IS MOST DEFINITELY CRITICAL THAT WE CROSS TRAIN IN MANY DIFFERENT AREAS FROM OUR RESOURCE TEACHER'S INCLUSION TEACHERS ANY OF OUR SPECIAL PROGRAMS THAT WE OFFER THEY WILL HAVE NOT ONLY TEACHER RESOURCES AND THEIR CLASSROOM WITH THE PURCHASE BUT ACCESS TO EVERYTHING THAT THE GENET TEACHERS ARE ALSO DOING SO IT WILL DEFINITELY BE A CROSS CURRICULAR. CROSS DEPARTMENTAL, I SHOULD SAY, UM, VERY IMPORTANT THAT THEY ARE A PART OF THAT, AND IT WOULD BE ON THE SAME TRAINING DAY. ABSOLUTELY THANK YOU. YES, MA'AM. MR BRADY. HYSTERIC MY DAYS ARE RUNNING TOGETHER. MISS HOLCOMB COULD COME DOWN AND GIVE YOU A HUG. I AM SO EXCITED. LIKE SERIOUSLY. THIS IS GOING TO BRING TEARS TO MY EYES LIKE THIS IS GAME CHANGING FOR US IS THE DISTRICT WE ARE DATA HAS NOT BEEN GREAT.
OUR STUDENTS HAVE NOT BEEN LEARNING TO READ. AND THAT IMPACTS THEM FOR THEIR LIFE. FOR THEIR LIFE. AND YOU'VE ONLY BEEN HERE A SHORT TIME AND YOU WERE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE THAT TALK TO EVERYONE. YOU COULD FIND OUT WHAT YOU NEED TO FIND AND FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX IT. AND THANK YOU. I JUST WE HAVE SAT IN BOARD MEETINGS AND WE HAVE SAID HOUSTON. WE HAVE A PROBLEM AND WE'VE HAD THE SAME CONVERSATION OVER AND OVER AGAIN, AND THE DATA HAS LOOKED THE SAME OVER AND OVER AGAIN, AND I HAVE LOST SLEEP OVER. WHAT WE HAVE NOT DONE FOR KIDS, AND I'M SO EXCITED AND I DON'T GET UPSET A LOT LIKE I MAKING. YOU'RE MAKING ME RIGHT NOW. SO I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE POSSIBILITIES HERE AND THE DIFFERENCE THAT WE'RE GOING TO MAKE IN KIDS LIVES BECAUSE IF WE CAN TEACH THEM TO READ, I MEAN, THAT CHANGES THE TRAJECTORY FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. THANK YOU. YOU'RE VERY WELCOME. AND I HAVE TO SAY THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE WORK FROM BRIANA AND BRIANNA. DO YOU WANT TO COME UP FOR A MINUTE? SHE HAS SHE'S CRYING TO, UM.
BRIANNA WAS AN INCREDIBLE INSTRUCTIONAL COACH, AND SHE RECOGNIZED THINGS EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS ACTUALLY DOING A LOT OF WRITING FOR THE PRIOR CURRICULUM, SHE SAW THE NEED AND THE VALUE AS WELL AND HURT. WOW HER ABILITY TO SHOULDER THIS AND THREE MONTHS, FOUR MONTHS ON THE JOB. SHE WAS LIKE, WOW, I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I WAS SIGNING UP FOR, AND I SAID ONE. NEITHER DID I, BUT WE'RE DOING IT TOGETHER. NO, I'M KIDDING. BUT IT'S BEEN GREAT. I'M VERY THANKFUL. AND BROWN ALWAYS WANTS TO KNOW HOW THANKFUL I AM FOR YOU. WE WOULD NOT BE TOO. I'M COMING. NOT BE RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW WITH THIS, UM, AND HONESTLY WASN'T SURE WE WERE GONNA MAKE THE NOVEMBER BOARD MEETING. IT'S BEEN A LOT TO KIND OF GO BACK AND FORTH AND JUST KIND OF LOOK AT THE BEST WAYS TO PRESERVE MONEY AND TO BE FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE WITH TAXPAYER DOLLARS INTO STILL DO ITS BEST FOR KIDS AND OUR TEACHERS. AND SO THANK YOU. BOARD MEMBERS. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS. MR JACKMAN. UM. THANK YOU TO SUPPORT SALLY'S TEAR. GREAT STUFF. MY QUESTION IS ACTUALLY FOR MR GIRL RELATED TO YOU. WE'VE BEEN STRUGGLING A LITTLE BIT WITH BUDGET. HELP ME UNDERSTAND WHERE OKAY IF WE COMMIT OURSELVES TO FOUR ANNUAL PAYMENTS OF 3 TO $400,000. YEAH YES, SIR. ABSOLUTELY WE'VE BEEN TALKING A LOT ABOUT IT, GOING BACK AND FORTH WHERE WE CUT WHAT WE CAN DO, HOW WE AFFORD THIS KIND OF THING AND LIKE, MISS DEREK SAID, THIS IS THE KIND OF STUFF WE SHOULD BE SPENDING MONEY ON, SO IT'S ABSOLUTELY AGREE AND DOABLE. YOU WERE PREPARED. GOOD THANK YOU JUST LIKE TO REITERATE THAT, UM THAT WAS A REALLY IMPORTANT COMPONENT FOR ME, AND SO, UM, LIKE I MENTIONED EARLIER, THE 300,000 ACTUALLY THE FIRST P O THAT I HAD WHEN WE FIRST THE YEAR STARTED WAS WORDS THEIR WAY, AND THAT PROGRAM ALONE SAVED US OVER A QUARTER OF A MILLION DOLLARS AND SO BY HOLDING ON THAT SO THAT WE COULD HAVE TIME TO EXPLORE WHAT WOULD BE WOULD BE BEST OR MOST NEEDED ALLOWED US TO ALMOST DO A YEAR ONE JUST
[02:25:03]
ABOUT WE HAVE OTHER AREAS THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT. I DO BELIEVE WE CAN CONTINUE TO CUT INTO SAVE SOME OTHER DOLLARS. WE PROBABLY WILL HAVE TO BE CREATIVE ON SOME OF THOSE OTHER AREAS TO JUST CONTINUE TO SUSTAIN IT. BUT I DO BELIEVE WE HAVE SOME AREAS THAT WE MOST DEFINITELY CAN. CAN CAN SHIFT RIGHT TO GET THAT. BUT I ALSO WANTED TO MENTION I THINK I FORGOT TO SAY THIS. THAT H M H, WHICH IS RECENTLY PURCHASED HAS JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED MAP. UM AND SO NOW BECAUSE THEY OWN THE MAP IN W, A MAP PROGRAM, ALL OF THEIR THEIR PROGRAMS ARE GOING TO TALK TO MAP AND YOU HEARD ME MENTION THAT WITH PROGRESS LEARNING AND HOW IMPORTANT THAT WAS HAVING THOSE WRITS SCORES ALIGNED. WELL THEY JUST SO HAPPEN TO HAVE A KINDERGARTEN THROUGH SECOND GRADE PROGRAM CALLED WAGGLE, WHICH IS WAGGLE READING AND WAGGLE MATH, AND IT'S ALL DESIGNED FOR THE YOUNG STUDENTS. TO DEVELOP ITS SORT OF LIKE AN ADAPTIVE CURRICULUM PROGRAM. BUT IT'S A LINE TO THEIR WRIT SCORE. AND SO IT'S GOING TO BE A REALLY IT WILL HAVE THAT ACCESS TO IT. UM, WE'VE HAD CAMPUS IS ALREADY IN THE VENDOR DEMO. GET EXCITED ABOUT IT, BUT WE'VE ASKED THEM TO JUST HOLD ON. WE'VE GOT PROGRAMS THAT WE ARE UTILIZING THAT WE'RE SEEING GOOD RESULTS WITH AND SO WE WILL LOOK AT MAYBE ONBOARDING SOME OF THAT, AND WE DO BELIEVE THAT IF THOSE PROGRAMS WORK WELL, AND WE HAVE A FEW PILOTS GOING WITH THAT, THAT COULD ACTUALLY REPLACE SOME OF THE MONEY THAT WE'RE UTILIZING FOR OTHER ADAPTIVE CURRICULUM PROGRAMS, AND THAT ALONE COULD POSSIBLY MAKE THAT PAYMENT. UM, AND SO WE'RE REALLY LOOKING AT SOME CREATIVE OPTIONS. MR BRACKETT. UM. THANK YOU FOR THE WORK OF YOU, BUT, UM AND THESE ARE KIND OF CONTINUATIONS ON ALL OF THE COMMENTS TO MISS BRADY ABOUT WHERE THIS HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN THE PAST. WHAT TO FIND SUCCESS FOR US DO WE HAVE TO FIND TARGETS FROM A PERCENT INCREASE OR GROWTH ON SCORES THAT'S ATTRIBUTED SPECIFIC TO THIS PROGRAM. I MEAN, YEAH, THIS HAS COME UP A LOT AND SOME OF OUR NEW PROGRAMS OR CURRICULAR ANYTHING. WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT SUCCESS IS. YES MA'AM. UM I THINK THE FIRST THING I WOULD SAY TO THAT IS KNOWING THAT THIS IS ONE OF VERY FEW PROGRAMS THAT T E A HAS VETTED WE KNOW FOR SURE IS A HIGH QUALITY CURRICULUM RESOURCE. UM HIGH QUALITY CURRICULUM RESOURCES ONLY AS GOOD AS IT'S IMPLEMENTED , AND SO I THINK THAT IS THE FIRST THING WE HAVE TO DO IS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE TRAIN OUR TEACHERS APPROPRIATELY AND SUPPORT THEM APPROPRIATELY TO UTILIZE IT WITH EFFECTIVENESS.UM WE SHOULD SEE DATA FROM THAT IN MULTIPLE MEASURES. WE SHOULD SEE OUR MAP DATA BY MIDDLE OF YEAR AND END OF YEAR WITH THE DIAGNOSTIC DATA THAT WE LOOKED AT A FEW MINUTES AGO. WE SHOULD SEE THOSE NUMBERS CHANGE. VERY QUICKLY. SO THAT WOULD BE OUR FIRST MEASURE. THE SECOND MEASURE THAT SHOULD BACK THAT UP WOULD BE OUR MAP GROWTH DATA. MATT GROWTH MATT GROWTH READING IN SPANISH MAP GROWTH READING IN ENGLISH. WE SHOULD SEE THOSE TWO PIECES CORRELATE. SO WHEN THE DIAGNOSTIC DATA ON THE DIAGNOSTICS THAT WE LOOKED AT EARLIER WHEN THAT ALL KIND OF TURNS BLUE AND THEN THE DARKER BLUE FOR THE READING, PROFICIENCY EASE, WE SHOULD SEE ALL OF THAT MATT GROWTH DATA RISING. WHEN THAT HAPPENS, WE'RE GOING TO BE ABLE TO SEE MEATS AND MASTER SCORES. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, BECAUSE THAT'S GOING TO SHOW THE DEPTH AND COMPLEXITY OF THINKING, BUT THE K TWO GROUP IS CRITICAL RIGHT NOW BECAUSE WE HAVE TO GET THEM OUT OF THOSE LOWER GRADE LEVELS, READING AND MASTERING THOSE FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS. WE ALSO HAVE, UM WE'VE GOT LOTS OF LOTS OF DATA SOURCES . AND SO THAT'S A WONDERFUL, UM, THING IN THE DISTRICT IS THAT WE'VE GOT THE FOUND US EMPANEL READING KIDS AS WELL THAT ARE TEACHERS DO 1 TO 1 WITH THE WITH THE STUDENTS. SO WHILE A COMPUTER PROGRAM GIVES YOU ONE SOURCE OF DATA, YOU ALSO CAN GET A FACE TO FACE READING MEASURE WITH A TEACHER AND A STUDENT READING TOGETHER AND SO THAT WILL BE ANOTHER PIECE OF DATA WILL WANT TO SEE ALL OF THAT SORT OF LINING UP AND TELLING US THE SAME STORY. UM AND THEN, OF COURSE, IT WHATEVER POINT WE HAVE STAR OR IF STAR GOES AWAY, WE DON'T KNOW THAT'S ALSO ON THE TABLE. AND SO, UM, WE WILL HAVE LOTS OF MEASURES. BUT I DO UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE SAYING. AND I WILL PROMISE YOU THAT THAT WILL BE A PRIORITY FOR US TO WATCH AND TO LOOK AT. UM BUT MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN THE TRAINING AND THE SUPPORT THAT WE PROVIDE. THE CAMPUSES WILL BE THE LINCHPIN AND WHETHER OR NOT IT EXECUTES SUCCESSFULLY, AND THAT IS WHERE INSTRUCTIONAL COACHING STAFFS ARE GOING TO BE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. AS WELL AS WHAT WE'RE PROVIDING FOR ONGOING SUPPORT. I KNOW MISS BURRELL HAS ALREADY WORKED ON SOME AFTERNOON SESSIONS FOR TEACHERS TO COME AND LEARN AND EXPLORE THE MATERIALS. YOU'RE WELCOME TO COME UP ANYTIME, UM, ON MONDAY AFTERNOONS. WE HAVE L A MONDAYS AND THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING THIS INTO THOSE SESSIONS AS WELL AS THE INSTRUCTIONAL COACHES HAVE GONE OUT, AND WE HAVE DONE SMALL GROUP. FACE TO FACE TRAINING. I WAS ON A CAMPUS THE OTHER DAY, MCLAUGHLIN STRICKLAND, I JUST ABOUT DROPPED MY PHONE AND EVERYTHING THAT TURNED THE CORNER AND I SAW THE H M H MATERIALS ON THE SCREEN AND I WENT WELL, WHAT'S GOING ON? WELL IT WAS WHAT WE HAD TALKED ABOUT WAS MAKING SURE THAT WE PREPARED THE TEACHERS TO KNOW THERE IS SOMETHING GOING TO THE BOARD.
IT'S NOT APPROVED YET, BUT IN THE EVENT THAT IT IS, WE WANT YOU TO BE PREPARED ON WHAT COMES NEXT. THEY HAVE TO KNOW WHERE THAT FITS IN OUR CURRICULUM DOCUMENTS AND KNOW THAT THAT'S
[02:30:04]
GOING TO BE A SEAMLESS AND SMOOTH TRANSITION. WE DID NOT WIN INFORMATION GETTING OUT.AHEAD WHERE THEY WERE THEN WORRIED ABOUT WHAT THOSE NEXT STEPS WOULD LOOK LIKE. AND SO, UM, THAT AND I WILL SAY HAS BEEN VERY, VERY WELL RECEIVED FOR A TEACHER TO SIT IN A SMALL GROUP AND SOMEONE TO TRAIN THEM AND SAY, CLICK HERE, LOG IN HERE. GO HERE . IT'S BEEN VERY, VERY GOOD. AND SO I THINK THE MORE THAT WE DO WITH THAT. IT'S A PROCESS. IT WON'T BE A ONE DAY TRAINING FOR SURE. BUT I ALWAYS SAY THE BEST WAY TO ROLL OUT SOMETHING LARGE LIKE THIS, WHICH NORMALLY YOU WOULD NOT DO IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FALL. UM IS TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU'RE DOING IT IN A WAY THAT DOES NOT FEEL SUPER PRESSURED BECAUSE THE TEACHERS HAVE TO LEARN IT, AND THEY HAVE TO GIVE THEMSELVES SOME GRACE TO GO IN AND MAKE MISTAKES AND THEN TURN AROUND AND DO IT BETTER THE NEXT TIME, SO IF WE GIVE THEM THE BASIC FOUNDATIONAL PIECES, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO EXECUTE THIS WITH FIDELITY AND THEN JUST CONTINUE TO GET BETTER, SO WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE POSSIBILITIES. BUT I WILL MOST DEFINITELY, UM TAKE NOTE OF THE OF THE FEEDBACK AND WE WILL COME BACK AND FUTURE BOARD MEETINGS IF NEEDED TO UPDATE THAT DATA FOR YOU AND CAN DEFINITELY WORK IT INTO OUR PRESENTATIONS. WHEN WE DO OUR T I UPDATES IN MIDDLE OF YOUR UPDATES ON THE DATA AND THE SCORES ARE, YOU KNOW THEY'RE IMPORTANT. THEIR SECONDARY YOU KNOW TO SALLY'S OR SOME IS DEREK'S POINT. I MEAN, OUR KIDS KNOWING HOW TO READ IS PRIORITY, NO MATTER WHAT THE SCORES, YOU KNOW, SHOW BUT YOU KNOW, AGAIN, INVESTING IN THE TEACHERS AND THE TRAINING AND THAT, UH THAN YOU KNOW, I'LL BE BEHIND YOU SUPPORTING YOU SUPPORTING THEM FOR THAT, BUT THE ORIGINAL CURRICULUM IS THAT GONNA BE ARE THOSE RESOURCES GOING TO BE PHASED OUT? BECAUSE THIS IS THIS IS LISTED AS A SUPPLEMENT AND FINANCIAL INVESTMENT. BUT ARE THE OTHERS GOING TO STAY WHILE WE TRANSITION AND THEN THEY WILL BE COMPLETELY PHASED OUT, AND THIS WILL BE OUR SOUL ITEMS SINCE IT'S 100% ALIGNED WITH THE TEAK. IT'S A WONDERFUL QUESTION.
UM SO THE CAMPUSES THAT ARE GOING FULL PILOT SO THAT 14 CAMPUSES THE ONES THAT WERE EITHER FULL PILOT OR PARTIAL EITHER ONE. THEY WILL NOT UTILIZE THE CURRENT RESOURCES.
THEY'LL STILL HAVE ACCESS IF THEY WANT TO USE PATTERNS OF POWER OR WORDS THEIR WAY AND THEY LOVED A LESSON WITHIN THAT IT'LL STILL BE THERE. BUT THE HIGH QUALITY MATERIALS LIKE THERE'S NO TURNING BACK WHEN THEY SAW THE THINGS THAT WERE AVAILABLE IN THE NEW THEY WERE LIKE THIS IS GREAT. SO THE READING CURRICULUM IS THE CRITICAL COMPONENT BECAUSE YOU CAN'T DO THE OLD READING CURRICULUM AND THE NEW READING CURRICULUM. THOSE WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE CAMPUSES AND THEY WILL BE MOVED ALONG. WE'VE GOT SOME CAMPUSES THAT NEEDS SOME KIDS AND SOME THAT DON'T AND SO THE ONES THAT ARE NOT IN THE FULL PILOT RIGHT NOW. WE WILL RE UTILIZE THOSE MATERIALS AND THEY WILL THEN BE IN THE FULL PILOT, THE CAMPUSES THAT ARE NOT DOING THE FULL PILOT YET, BUT ARE DOING ALL THE PHONICS AND ALL OF THE GRAMMAR.
THEY WILL STILL HAVE THEIR REGULAR READING MATERIALS IN THEIR BUILDING. WHAT WE WILL DO IS WE WILL EVALUATE OUR DATA AT THE END OF THE YEAR WITH OUR PILOT SCHOOLS. WE'RE ALSO GONNA DO SOME WALKS WHERE THE CAMPUSES THAT ARE NOT IN THE FULL PILOT YET MAY WANT TO GO WATCH AND SEE IT IN ACTION, SO THEY WILL BE OUR NATURAL MODEL SCHOOLS. SO WE'VE ALREADY TOLD THE EARLY ADOPTERS GET READY. Y'ALL ARE GOING TO BE A MODEL SCHOOL, SO THEY ARE SUPER EXCITED. UM THIS.
THIS KIND OF TOOK HOLD, AND THIS WAS A REALLY NEAT STORY TO SHARE THAT WHEN THEY WERE PRESENTED WITH A POSSIBILITY OF THIS, THEY WERE GIVEN A DEMO LOGIN. THE DEMO LOGIN WENT LIKE WILDFIRE AND WAS SHARED ALL OVER THE DISTRICT AND THE TEACHERS STARTED CREATING THEIR OWN VIDEOS TRYING TO HELP EACH OTHER TO GET TO THESE RESOURCES. THEY COULDN'T GET TO THEM FAST ENOUGH . AND SO WE HAD TO REIN IT IN A LITTLE BIT JUST TO LET THEM KNOW. OKAY. HEY HERE'S A OKAY.
THIS IS A THIS IS A YOU MAY DO THIS. BUT YOU CAN'T DO THIS RIGHT. WE HAD TO GIVE THEM THE PARAMETERS OF WHAT TO STAY WITHIN, SO THAT WE WERE STAYING RIGHT WITH OUR SCOPE AND SEQUENCE CURRENTLY, SO WE WILL HAVE A BLEND A LITTLE BIT OF A HYBRID MODEL WHERE OUR PILOT CAMPUSES WILL HAVE ALL NEW AND THEN THE ONES THAT ARE DOING JUST THE PHONICS AND GRAMMAR SUPPLEMENTS RIGHT NOW WILL HAVE ACCESS TO WHAT THEY'VE ALWAYS HAD, PLUS THE NEW AND THEN AUGUST WHEN THEY GET THEIR MATERIALS AND THEY'RE READY TO IMPLEMENT. THEN IT WILL BE TAKING OUT THE OLD AND JUST USING THE NEW WE NUMBER ONE NEED TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE SPACE. BUT THEN ALSO WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE FOCUSED AND UTILIZING THE SAME CURRICULUM AND SUPPORTING IT DISTRICT WIDE AND THAT WERE CONSISTENT WITH THAT AND IMPLEMENTATION AND TRAINING. FOR THOSE FINANCIAL INVESTMENTS ON THOSE ORIGINALS IS GOING TO PHASE OUT CEASE THE GRAMMAR MATERIALS AND, WELL, THIS IS ACTUALLY KIND OF INTERESTING. SO THE PHONICS MATERIAL ONE OF THE THINGS YOU SAW ME UP ON THE BOARD WAS WORDS THEIR WAY WORDS THEIR WAY IS A REALLY IT'S A GOOD PROGRAM, BUT THE PROGRAM RESOURCES THAT WE CURRENTLY HAVE ARE NOT RICH AND HIGH QUALITY. IT'S MORE LIKE A TEACHER WORKBOOK. BUT WHAT THEY'RE GETTING IS PRE MADE LESSONS AND STUDENT MATERIALS AND DIFFERENT THINGS FOR STUDENTS TO BE INTERACTIVE WITH THE MATERIALS. AND SO THE PROGRAM WITH H M H ACTUALLY UTILIZED AUTHORS AND PEOPLE FROM WORDS THEIR WAY IT'S EMBEDDED IN SOME OF THE ACTUAL STRATEGIES AND LESSONS SO THEY'RE GOING TO
[02:35:03]
SEE FAMILIAR THINGS IN, HMM. H THAT MAY HAVE COME FROM THAT RESOURCE. WORDS THEIR WAY RESOURCES WILL STILL BE THERE, AND THEY'RE STILL GOOD. SO IF THEY HAD SOMETHING WITHIN THAT, THAT THEY LOVE AND THEY WANT TO GRAB THAT AND USE IT AS LONG AS IT'S ALIGNED TO THE STANDARDS AND THE CURRICULUM THAT WE'RE ACTUALLY DOING THAT IT WOULD BE OKAY. PATTERNS OF POWER IS SORT OF THE SAME WAY THE ONLY AREA THAT WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF LIKE A REAL DIFFERENCE IS GOING TO BE THE UNITS OF STUDY READING AND THEN THE H M H READING. YOU CAN'T DO BOTH OF THOSE THERE SET UP AND DESIGNED DIFFERENTLY IN THE WAY THAT THEY'RE WRITTEN. SO THE GRAMMAR IN PHONICS MATERIALS THAT WE CURRENTLY HAVE THOSE CAN REMAIN. I MEAN, AS FAR AS THOSE COULD JUST BE LIKE A CHOICE OF SOMETHING THAT YOU COULD USE LIKE A MENU BOARD. BUT WHEN THEY GET READY TO IMPLEMENT THE FULL READING, THEY WOULD NEED TO USE ONE OR THE OTHER. I DO BELIEVE, AND I DON'T KNOW THIS FOR SURE. BUT BY THE END OF THE YEAR WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO DETERMINE THERE ARE A FEW CAMPUSES, I WOULD SAY 810. MAYBE. UM THAT ARE NOT. THEY'RE NOT ON THE FULL PILOT YET AND THEY'RE NOT ON THE AUGUST PILOT. WE'RE STILL DETERMINING, AND THERE'S JUST A VARIETY OF REASONS FOR THAT. WE'RE ALSO GOING TO LOOK AT SOME OF THE DATA. UM AND SOME OF THE PRINCIPLES HAVE JUST RECENTLY COME BACK FROM LIKE MATERNITY LEAVE AND HAVEN'T HAD A CHANCE TO EVEN BE INVOLVED IN THIS AND SO WE'RE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT THOSE LAST GROUPS OF KIND OF SEE WHERE WHAT WE NEED TO DO TO SUPPORT THEM. UM AND SO THAT'S KIND OF A COMPLICATED ANSWER.BUT THE ANSWER TO THAT WOULD BE WE WILL STILL HAVE THE CURRENT MATERIALS THAT WE'VE PURCHASED.
BUT WE WILL HAVE A CLEAR FOCUS ON WHAT WE USE FOR READINGS SPECIFICALLY WITH H. M H INTO READING IN ARRIBA VERSUS THE ORIGINAL CURRICULUM WILL HAVE TO USE ONE OR THE OTHER. MR ERIC. I JUST WANT TO ASK A QUESTION OFF OF THAT. JUST TO BE CLEAR UNITS OF STUDY IS NOT ON THE T E A APPROVED LIST CORRECT. THE LIST THAT WE JUST LOOKED AT, WHICH WAS THE T E. A LIST OF PROGRAMS FOR PHONICS IS NOT LISTED ON THE TIAS LIST, SO THAT'S PROBABLY GOING TO ANSWER. YOUR QUESTION IS WHAT I'M YES, OKAY. YES OUR CURRENT CURRICULUM COVERS 100% OF THE STANDARDS. THE DEPARTMENT HAD TO WRITE AND SUPPLEMENTS. PROBABLY OVER 50. SO EVERY TIME YOU CLICK AND YOU GO TO ANOTHER AREA FOR THE SUPPLEMENT TO COVER ALL 100% OF THOSE STANDARDS BECAUSE OUR CURRICULUM IS ITS ITS IN DEPTH, AND IT'S COVERS IT , BUT YOU HAVE TO. YOU HAVE TO READ AND KNOW ALL OF THE PIECES WITHIN THAT AND FOLLOW THAT CURRICULUM TO THE T. SO WITH MANY SUPPLEMENTS, YOU KNOW WE GET THERE BUT TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION ON THE APPROVED PHONICS LIST, IT IS NOT ON THE ONE THAT TA HAS PUT OUT FOR RECOMMENDATION FOR COMPLIANCE WITH THE DIRECT, EXPLICIT PHONICS. WHEN IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE IN PLACE LIKE THE TA HAS GIVEN US THE LIST? WHEN DO WE HAVE? WHAT'S THE DEADLINE? WELL AS SOON AS THE APPROVAL OF DONE TONIGHT, IT WILL BE IN PLACE.
NEXT WEEK. I'M SAYING, BUT FOR THE OTHER FOR UNITS OF STUDY, THIS HAS THE STATE SAID YOU HAVE TO IT'S JUST FUNNY. YEAH THE T A MANDATE IN 2008 OR 19 WAS THE PHONICS PIECE AND THAT WAS THE PHONICS. THAT'S WHAT WE'RE IMPLEMENTING IMMEDIATELY. DISTRICT WIDE ALL CAMPUSES AS WELL AS THE GRAMMAR. THOSE WILL BE PRETTY MUCH NON NEGOTIABLES AS FAR AS SUPPLEMENTS ARE CONCERNED, UM, BUT THE UNITS OF STUDY READING, UM IT IS. IT DOES COVER THE STANDARD THE MAIN TO A CERTAIN POINT, BUT AS FAR AS 100% COVERAGE OF THE STANDARDS, IT DOESN'T COMPARE TO WHAT WHAT THE H M H PROGRAM WILL DO. AND THE DIFFERENCE WITH THAT IS IF YOU'RE A NEW TEACHER, RIGHT IN YOUR GOT YOUR MATERIALS IN YOUR HANDS. IF YOU'RE COVERING WHAT'S IN THERE, AND YOU LEARN WHAT YOU HAVE. IT'S MUCH EASIER TO USE. AND IN THE TIME THAT WE'RE IN RIGHT NOW IN EDUCATION WITH THE WAY THAT WE'RE HAVING TO STAFF AND RECRUIT AND RETAIN, IT IS CRITICAL THAT WE MEET THE NEEDS OF WHERE WE ARE. IT'S NOT THAT WHAT WE HAVE NOW WOULDN'T HAVE WORKED, BUT IT MAY HAVE WORKED BETTER AT SOME POINT IN TIME THAN IT DOES NOW. BUT WE KNOW THAT RIGHT NOW WE DO NEED TO LOOK AT IT AT A CHANGE THAT'S GOING TO HELP SUPPORT THE TEACHERS. OKAY MISS HOLCOMB.
THIS IS AN EXAMPLE. OF LISTENING. PLANNING RESEARCHING LISTENING. LISTENING AND CONTINUING TO ENGAGE OUR TEACHERS AND OUR ADMINISTRATORS IN THE DECISION MAKING AND I HAVE EVERY BIT OF CONFIDENCE. UH THAT'S WHEN WE ARE IF WE'RE ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD, UM, THAT THE FOLLOW UP AND THE FOLLOW THROUGH AND THE ENGAGEMENT IN THE FIELD IS GOING TO BE AMAZING. UM SO I JUST WANT TO THANK BOTH OF YOU FOR THE INVESTMENT. AND FOR THE COMMITMENT THAT IN SUCH A SHORT TIME, UM I COULD CRY TO TWO KIDS THAT STRUGGLE AND READING AND THEY'RE NOT THE ONLY ONES THIS DISTRICT AND I HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS SINCE 2018. AND IT IS NOT CHANGED. AND SO I JUST WANT TO THANK YOU BOTH FOR ANSWERING THE CALL THAT MANY PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD HAVE HAD, AND MANY
[02:40:03]
TEACHERS IN THIS DISTRICT HAVE HAD FOR MULTIPLE YEARS. UM AND SO I WOULD ASK, YOU KNOW BETTER WHEN IT'S GOOD TO BRING DATA BACK TO THE BOARD. HAVE THIS B O Y DATA THAT'S GOING TO BE THERE ARE SO MANY SOURCES. SO I WOULD JUST ASK THAT YOU WORK WITH DR ELDREDGE ON WHEN YOU GUYS THINK IS THE POINT WHERE WE WOULD BE READY AT AFTER THE END OF THE YEAR, PROBABLY FOR A FIRST UPDATE. UM BECAUSE I WANT YOU TO FEEL LIKE YOU CAN COME BACK AND SHARE SOMETHING IMPACTFUL, UM, ON HOW IT'S GOING. WE WILL MOST DEFINITELY DO THAT HAPPY TO DO IT, AND WE APPRECIATE THE SUPPORT OF THE BOARD. NONE OF THIS IS POSSIBLE WITHOUT ALL OF YOU AND THE WORK THAT YOU DO, AND SO WE'RE VERY THANKFUL FOR THE SUPPORT. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU FOR MEMBERS ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? ALRIGHT WITH THAT THIS MARTA ITEM AS MARKED FOR POSSIBLE ACTION DOES THE BOARD WISHED TO TAKE ACTION? MR ERIC. I MOVE THAT WE APPROVED THE PURCHASE OF PHONICS AND GRAMMAR PROGRAM WITH SUPPLEMENTAL READING PILOT IN DIGITAL ONLINE RESOURCES FOR THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS HAVE A SECOND MR SHACHTMAN HAVE A SEGMENT FROM MR SEXTON. IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR. RAISE YOUR HAND. ALL THOSE OPPOSED. BY ABOUT A SEVEN IN FAVOR AND ZERO OPPOSED. THE MOTION CARRIES. OKAY? OUR NEXT ITEM IS ITEM SUCCEED, CONSIDER AND APPROVE, EDITS AND UPDATES TO THE BOARD OPERATING PROCEDURES. WE HAD A BOARD OPERATING PROCEDURES SUBCOMMITTEE THAT WORKED HARD ON THIS, UM MISS HER. BOCEK MUST BENAVIDEZ MR. SHACHTMAN WITH ONE OF YOU LIKE TO SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE FINAL VERSION OF THE BOARD OPERATING PROCEDURES BEFORE WE MOVE FORWARD. UM WE TOOK, UM WHEN WE HAD REVIEWED IT THE LAST TIME WITH THE FULL BOARD TOOK COMMENTS, SUGGESTIONS WE WENT BACK. UM AND MADE SOME ADDITIONAL CHANGES. AND, UH, THIS WAS A LINE BY LINE REVIEW OF THIS DOCUMENT AND MISS CANADA . MR. MARSH CAN ATTEST TO THAT. WE'VE MET MULTIPLE TIMES, SO WE SHOULD BE GOOD FOR AWHILE UNLESS SOMETHING COMES UP SPECIFIC TO A SITUATION THAT WE MIGHT NEED TO REVIEW A SECTION. THERE WERE SOME ADDITIONAL TWEAKS AFTER THE PRESENTATION BY THE LAWYER. UM AS WELL AS WE HAD SIGNIFICANT WRITTEN COMMENTS FROM ONE BOARD MEMBER, WE REVIEWED THOSE. AND UM, WHAT YOU HAVE HERE IS THE COMMITTEE'S FINAL REVIEW. REVIEWED BY LEGAL, UM AND I THINK WE'RE 26. YES, 20. 26 PAGES, SO. SO AND FULL DISCLOSURE. I WENT BACK TO LOOK AT THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENT THAT I RECEIVED IN 2017. WE WERE AT 35 PAGES, SO I FEEL LIKE WE HAVE SUCCEEDED IN ELIMINATING SOME CONFUSION OR MAYBE DUPLICATION OF ITEMS. SO UH, YOU KNOW, ON BEHALF OF MS BENAVIDEZ AND MR SHACHTMAN, WE'RE EXCITED TO PRESENT THIS FOR Y'ALL'S APPROVAL. ALRIGHT. DO I HAVE EMOTION? MR STOCKMAN. I USED TO MAKE IT. PRIOR TO MAKING THE MOTION. LET ME ALSO REMIND US THIS IS NOT CAST IN STONE. SO IF WE WERE TO RUN UP AGAINST SOMETHING IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS OR MOUNTING A WE NEED TO CHANGE THIS. IT IS POSSIBLE TO DO THAT. WITH THAT IN MIND, I WOULD MAKE A MOTION THAT WE APPROVE. AS PRESENTED THE BOARD OPERATING PROCEDURES. ALRIGHT. HAVE EMOTIONS. MR SHACHTMAN. DO I HAVE A SECOND? THE SPIN OF VIDEOS IS A SECOND. IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU TO SUBCOMMITTEE FOR ALL THEIR HARD WORK. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR. RAISE YOUR HAND. ALL THOSE OPPOSED. BY A VOTE OF SEVEN IN FAVOR AND ZERO POSED THE MOTION CARRIES. ALL RIGHT, MOVING ON. TO THE NEXT AGENDA. ITEM ITEM NUMBER SEVEN COMMENTS[7. Comments from Board Members Regarding Posted Agenda Items]
