WELCOME TO THE FEBRUARY BOARD MEETING. IT'S GOOD TO SEE A PRETTY FULL ROOM TONIGHT. AND WE HAVE ALL SURVIVED THE FIRST TEXAS WINTER. AS YOU KNOW, TEXAS WINTER COMES RIGHT AT THE END EASTER, SO BE CAREFUL. DON'T PLANT YOUR PLANTS TOO EARLY AND BE READY BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT'S GOING TO HIT US NEXT. BUT WE ARE BACK HITTING THE GROUND RUNNING IN EDUCATION. EVEN THOUGH BECAUSE WE ALL SURVIVED TEXAS WINTER. SO AS A DISTRICT, WE DEDICATE ALL OF OUR EFFORTS AND RESOURCES TO OUR GOAL OF HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL. THE BOARD USES THIS GOAL TO GUIDE EVERY DELIBERATION, DECISION, AND ACTION AS ELECTED TRUSTEES, THE BOARD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING OVERSIGHT, SETTING THE STRATEGIC DIRECTION OF THE DISTRICT, AND ENSURING ACCOUNTABILITY ALL IN THE SERVICE OF STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT.

YOU WILL WITNESS THE BOARD CONDUCTING ITS WORK IN OPEN SESSION, EXCEPT FOR SPECIFIC ITEMS THAT MAY BE DISCUSSED IN CLOSED SESSION, AS PERMITTED UNDER THE TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 551, WHICH IS COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE TEXAS OPEN MEETINGS LAW. THESE ITEMS TYPICALLY INVOLVE PERSONAL MATTERS, CONSULTATION WITH OUR ATTORNEY, AND REAL ESTATE TRANSACTIONS. ESTEEMED BOARD MEMBERS AND DOCTOR ELDREDGE, THROUGH OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH CHICK FIL A TRINITY MILLS, WE HONOR THOSE WHO DEMONSTRATE EXCELLENCE WITH THE CFB CHAMPION AWARD. THIS MONTH, WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CELEBRATE OUR VERY OWN KRYSTAL PEREZ, ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR AT NEWMAN SMITH HIGH SCHOOL. COACH PEREZ WAS RECENTLY SURPRISED AT A SCHOOL GATHERING BY THE DALLAS COWBOYS AND RELIANT AS A RECIPIENT OF THE COWBOYS CLASS ACTS AWARD. THIS RECOGNITION NOT ONLY RECOGNIZED HER EXCEPTIONAL LEADERSHIP, DEDICATION AND POSITIVE IMPACT ON HER STUDENTS, BUT IT ALSO PROVIDED A $5,000 GRANT. THIS MARKS THE FIRST TIME. WELL, FOR OUR STUDENT RECOGNITION, NEWMAN SMITH ALSO HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO CELEBRATE ONE OF THEIR STUDENTS AS SENIOR KEVIN, I DIDN'T I DIDN'T FORGET, RECEIVED THE PRESTIGIOUS US NAVY SCHOLARSHIP. HE IS ONE OF JUST 14 STUDENTS IN NORTH TEXAS TO RECEIVE THIS $200,000 SCHOLARSHIP THIS YEAR. THIS AWARD WILL SUPPORT KEVIN AND HIS PURSUIT OF A MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEGREE AT MOREHOUSE COLLEGE IN ATLANTA. GREAT.

I KNOW I HAD TWO KIDS AT HOME, AND BY THE END I WAS A LITTLE WORRIED IF WE WERE GOING TO CALL FRIDAY. BUT THERE WAS A LOT OF PROBLEM SOLVING THAT HAPPENED, MAKING SURE WE COULD BRING OUR KIDS BACK AND SERVE OUR COMMUNITY IN THAT WAY. SO WE JUST WANT TO, ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD, THANK EVERYONE FOR ALL THE EFFORTS FOR THE HOLIDAY WEATHER OR HOLIDAY WEATHER. THE WINTER WEATHER. OKAY, SO NEXT UP IS OUR COMMITTEE REPORTS. THE DISTRICT LIAISON SERVES ON THESE COMMITTEES AND THEN PROVIDES INFORMATION TO THE BOARD SUPPORT AND COMMITTEE OPERATIONS. SO BOARD MEMBERS SERVING THIS CAPACITY ARE LISTED ON THE SCREEN. AND I KNOW THAT WE HAD A FEW OF THESE BOARD MEMBERS. DO WE HAVE ANY UPDATES WE NEED TO SHARE ABOUT THESE COMMITTEE MEETINGS? NO. AGENCY FOR OUR BLUE RIBBON CAMPUSES, WHICH IS NOW LONE STAR CAMPUSES. SO OUR PRINCIPAL, DEBBIE WILLIAMS FROM KENT ELEMENTARY AND DREAMA WERE AND KIM HOLCOMB, OUR ASSISTANT, WHO'S WORKED VERY HARD ON INSTRUCTION, AND FRANCISCO, WHO OVERSEES THOSE CAMPUSES.

MIRANDA, IT WAS SO NICE TO MEET THE COMMISSIONER OF EDUCATION AND TO SIT THERE THAT CFB IS HONORED AS TWO TOP SCHOOLS AMONG THE STATE IN THE ONLY SCHOOLS IN DALLAS COUNTY. SO THAT IS AN INCREDIBLE HONOR. AND EVEN EVEN BETTER WAS THERE WERE TWO PRINCIPAL AND A TEACHER, AND ONE OF THEM WENT TO SHEFFIELD AND THE OTHER ONE WENT TO KENT. AND SO WE TOOK A PICTURE, ONE BIG FAMILY. SO THEY HAD A BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL. AND I SAID, WELL, WE TRAINED YOU RIGHT AND CFB. SO, SO WHAT AN HONOR FOR THE PRINCIPALS THAT WORKED HARD AND THE STAFF.

AND AGAIN, THANKS TO OUR COMMUNICATION TEAM WHO GOT TO STREAM IT FOR ALL THE FAMILIES AND THE STAFF MEMBERS. SO IT WAS IT WAS SUCH AN HONOR TO TO BE THERE. AND OUR FINE ARTS, WE LOVE CRYSTAL IN ATHLETICS, BUT WE ALSO HAVE FINE ARTS, RIGHT. AND SO OUR FINE ARTS IN IN CFB IS AMAZING. SO FOR THE FIRST TIME IN EIGHT YEARS, 12 OF OUR STUDENTS EARNED THE PRESTIGIOUS TITLE OF TEXAS MUSIC EDUCATORS ALL-STATE MUSICIANS, PLACING THEM IN THE TOP 3% OF 70,000 COMPETITORS. AND IF YOU'VE EVER TRIED TO SING OR PLAY AN INSTRUMENT, IT IS NOT EASY. YOU KNOW, I DID ASK TRACY IF SHE WOULD BREAK OUT IN SONG TONIGHT, BUT SHE DID NOT. AND SHE HAS A BEAUTIFUL VOICE. TRACY RAINWATER BUT ANYWAY, WE WANT TO THANK OUR FINE ARTS DEPARTMENT, DON VALENTINE, AND OF COURSE, MARK ROHR, WHO DOES A GREAT JOB PROMOTING OUR FINE ARTS. WE FIRST ENGAGED WITH A BROAD STAKEHOLDER GROUP ACROSS ALL LEVELS OF INSTRUCTION, INCLUDING STUDENTS, STAFF, PARENTS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS FROM ACROSS THE DISTRICT. AND IN THE SECOND STEP WAS REFINING THE GUIDELINES AS WE WORK THROUGH SPECIFIC PROJECTS IN DEPTH. AND THE GOAL FOR ALL OF THAT WAS TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY, COMPETITIVE FACILITIES THAT ALLOW FOR FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE OPERATION. YES, WE DO ALLOW RELIGIOUS CLUBS. AS AS I MENTIONED EARLIER, WE HAVE THEM ALREADY ON OUR CAMPUSES. WE FOLLOW THE EQUAL ACCESS ACT, OUR FACILITIES, POLICIES AND NEUTRALITY, AND ALL STUDENTS CAN CAN PARTICIPATE. SO THIS EVENING I'M GOING TO PRESENT YOU WITH TWO OPTIONS. OPTION ONE.
